Guest exosyphen Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Then we have achieved another milestone here.
Guest rafiq_p Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Can anyone post the speed they get on a mpx 200 with sound and full screen.
Guest exosyphen Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I desperately feel the urge to make something awesome here. I am currently surfing the internet to find some quake mods that are "small" enough to deliver a good gameplay experience.I desperately feel the urge to make something awesome here. Guest ultimasnake Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Did anybody try the loadas8bit line in the cfg file yet? it gave me a minor fps upgrade :D to bad most mods are Multiplayer keep up the great work exo :)....
Guest exosyphen Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I will add in that option also and by the next release I will have 2 autoexec.cfg files. default full quality loweste quality / fastest gameplay.
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 ah ok.... hey when will you release the next version?...any improvements yet? :)

Guest exosyphen Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 I tested it on my site. It's usefull for GPRS surfing ... it saves tons of bandwidth. Great work!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Resorted to begging on handango now this thread has gone quiet  Handango Link how many people will pay before reading the page properly and realising that the game is actually free?
Guest exosyphen Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 What is your contribution to this community, except the fact that you accuse me for begging. Why don't you go ahead, grab my sourcecode and continue the work for free. It FREE and it's stated so with capitals. Also everybody can download it for free. And if someone wants to support this work and donate $5 voluntarely, why should he/she be allowed? The problem is that people are spending their money in the wrong way, instead of buying whatever you sell? To bad. I noticed you are a moderator ... so feel free to delete this post or whatever. As I DON'T CARE about people like you. It's not my fault I got all the fame for the spvQuake :D
Guest gravity Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Not my place to say who is right or wrong but I do sometimes get the feeling that Exo's ego might be running his mouth. I mean, spvQuake runs on my phone which is all good and all but at the end of the day, it's just a game and it's still not playable enough to be considered worthy of being put up on handago. And this is what really pissed me off: "This product requires a registration key to unlock the full version. After purchase, your registration key will be delivered by exoSyphen Studios (Mobile Ground) (the developer) within 2 business days. Email is the typical delivery method." Now how should I interpret it, you're asking people to donate(pay) you $5 so you will send them a registration key for something that should never have this kind of protection in the first place. And then you also promise them that the said key will unlock the full version, which might mean that you're required to give everyone who donates you money the full .pak file for quake.
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 What is your contribution to this community, except the fact that you accuse me for begging. Hate to burst your little ego-bubble - but awarner has been around for ages, and his contribution in the Help and Advice section of MoDaCo alone should give him enough credit for the rest of the decade! Enough said...
Guest exosyphen Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I guess it has become obvious why so few invest time into creating some quality freeware. They got fed up eventually ... I will pull it off, as to be honest I paid around 3 times more (and still do) for the hosting of the download and misc. jerks that just link directly to the images and download. Since I see that there is an obvious problem with me trying to recover parts of the money I pay to host the stupid game, it will be pulled off. And by reading the GNU GPL, since it won't longer be a release, any mirroring of existing copies and such, will be a direct infrigement of copyright on my work. As the GPL says : I have to make it free with sourcecode, BUT copyright remains on parts of my work. And to state it again, those that remember the early "days" of this adventure ... I just came around and done it ... and didn't bragged much about it.
Guest midnight Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 hold on a second, so one person complains and you pull it? as a professional software company, i'm surprised you get so upset by one comment, are you sure theres not more to this?
Guest midnight Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 oh, and cos you rleased the program under the GPL, you cannot actually stop anyone from copying and spreading this application so long as they obide by the terms in the GPL.... 6. Each time you redistribute the Program (or any work based on the Program), the recipient automatically receives a license from the original licensor to copy, distribute or modify the Program subject to these terms and conditions. You may not impose any further restrictions on the recipients' exercise of the rights granted herein. You are not responsible for enforcing compliance by third parties to this License.
Guest Richie M Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 and one of the main terms of the GPL is that you have to provide a copy with your distribution, which have/did not! As you obviously havent read the license properly, you can find it here http://www.fsf.org/copyleft/gpl.html
Guest zeta101 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 i think midnight is right, its strange to just give up a project after one comment. I mean its not as if other people here have said anything against you exo.
Guest exosyphen Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I just got fed up with it. It's not the first time it happens. And when I saw the guy beeing a moderator here ... what more can I say. If someone would come around my boards and offer something nice and free to the people there ... I wouldn't really call him what he called me. Also I noticed that he removed the thread I started where I stated that the project is pulled off. Nice one. I thought posts are deleted by moderators if they are found abusive or containing illegal content ... or off-topic. Richie-M : there was a quick and dirty release in the early days which wasn't 100% percent GPL compliant. Due to my enthusiasm and of others involved ... I just released it as it was. It was then properly packaged with everything inside ... but let's not go there again. I am sorry but my decision is final on this one. I can focus on developing comercial titles for the SPV. I will not take crap from an antisocial person with serious selfesteem problems who pretends to be a moderator here. The code is there, and it works .. feel free to do whatever you want with it.
Guest unclelimey Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 hey exo, you are coming across as a bit of an ass.. chill out dude :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 It was not myself that removed your post, and blaming one comment for removing quake is a bit like throwing your toys out of the cot :D The fact that no real improvement was ever made with Quake would be a more resonable reason for not continuing and using my comment is just an excuse. antisocial person with serious selfesteem problems who pretends to be a moderator here. interesting comment where is your basis for this :? I have never slated you for releasing quake for free (more freeware the better) but as I said begging on handango, which was all it was is another matter. Please donate etc would be fine when place in a post but on a site that specialises in selling software :?
Guest exosyphen Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Handango is loaded with freeware. Actually I got the ideea from a friend who was using a piece of freeware for his P800 from Handango. At one point while chatting with him, he told me : "I just donated $5 on Handango for this great freeware ... why don't you put your Quake there?" Then I saw the P800 software there and followed that guys ideea and posted Quake. I don't really want to pull a big deal of out this. I just cancelled the project like any other. awarner : if you would have read just a few pages on this thread, you might have noticed a .cfg file for Quake, posted here not so long ago, which be reducing graphics and sound quality ... delivered a somewhat better performance. It is not up to you to judge the speed of development on this project. I worked on it when my time allowed. So, no hard feelings. Anyone can pick the code and continue the work.
