No man, nothing personal, i see exactly what you mean tho. I imagine it wouldbe a lot easier if you had contacts within Samsung company. However contacting GsmArena "high rollers" - the ones that get inside info from samsung so they put specifications about the phones on, would make it substantialy easier to get the contact info of someone inside. I do agree it doesnt make sense developing a whole new interface just for omnia, as you said it's getting old faster than it should. But going step by step i think there's a chance. First you get the info wheather or not they are interested in idea of making new interface for samsung mobiles, not just for omnia. Or instead of them making Samsung today 1 and 2 they just make one - yours if they follow their tradition of interfaces that could be a good alternative skin. You make a video of how the interface looks now and then make a proposal and negotiate how things should look like from your point of view. If they are interested then you tell them you gonna make a pattern and sell them and hopefully you meet them with the price. If they decline and still bring your idea to life... it's not really a theft as that idea would never come to life otherwise anyway.

Another option is to give an offer to companies like SPB that make spb shell and tuff that it's sold rather well. I am rather confident about them taking an offwe if a good price is offered under good conditions for both sides. However you must understand that inovations arent always sold good ... imagine how much money would we have to pay for everyday stuff if inventors earned big bucks, the prices would go sky high. So unless you arent a greedy person but know how to make an offer i thinks it's worth the try at least with SPB company that makes such and similar interfaces and has requierd know-how.

Note, we are not talking about 100k $ or € or anything, but i donno up to say 700€ is a very big price for a good idea that needs some work to be done to bring it to life.

All true things, the only bug is that if i sell this idea, i will have not any chance to make it work like i would, partially because it is actually an incomplete design, and partially because once they purchase it, they will maka all the changes they want. At that point i would do that just for the money, because finally the interface will probably look different from the initial idea (I say that because i know that to make an easy-selling product they need to meet as many user targets as possible, making the design more flexible etc.)

Actually this is just a mockup: very difficult to sell the work that is already done, and doing more work to present an idea wich hardly meets the functionality standards of other ui seems a bit poitless to me. What I see right now is that the idea is reached a stall, i can't scrap it ( i'd prefer not) but theresn't enought to sell it to someone else.

All I can do is present the work done until now, but i seriously doubt it will move any interest. But in case someone picks it up it will become a commercial product, and I will not have any chance to design anymore.

Yes i see exactly what you mean, some interfaces do look rather shitty just because they need to bi suitable to such large number of costumers, that does make me change my mind about the samsung offer as they really wouldnt accept it, however an offer to companies like SPB does still make sense. They do make custom shells and stuff, but their appearence is the way it is but not just because it has to fit smaller but yet large enough "target" of ppl but also because they dont come up with that kind of imagination. If they had a chance i'm sure they might go for it.

Seems to me like you are trying to make a "dream house" but all you got right now is the blueprint or a draft picture of the idea but u dont have the resources. So if you get a sponsor he would implement his ideas and it wouldnt be ur dream house anymore. So basicaly you are inbetween a dream house or a dream thats never to see daylight. You do have the option to go there with the offer and condition the offer with "i want to have a big part in the making of this shell, i would like to be the coordinator. I will give the instructions you will make it happen" Sth like that, i imagine they would be glad if someone gave them ideas that only need to be done, instead of them wasting time designing and coming up with ideas how to make it similar to your design.

My only suggestion to you would be, either change the colors or at least make them optional to change, as i fancy the idea of interface, but i really dislike the colors that green and orange, nice colors but i dont know i just dont feel them in that interface. If that was a done UI i'd load/buy it just coz it's so diferent from others, but the colors ... i'd pay extra few bucks to have them changed :excl: my oppinion :excl:

It's really a shame that such advanced idea would just "be there" you know, i dont think you will ever finish it coz you wont find coders to help you make it happen (unless you made really big effort, but still doubt it) as i said it's better if you earn some bucks and cooperate with (i only know SPB company) companies like SPB than not doing anything at all. This idea will either get to life in a probably (a bit) modified version or it wont exist at all.

Unless you take it to some i donno school or college where they learn C++ and you have a chat with some professors and say:
Listen i have an idea, how about you give me couple of best students-coders and they work on a project of mine and if we complete the project successfully you give them a good grade or some bonus or something that is usualy given to good students on that school college. Maybe if you have a chance, you can give them a reward in some way that doesnt need to be financial, but just some benefit that they would have for the effort they would put into your project.

Any of that would you consider thinking?

Talking about colors: the interface was meant to be skinnable as many other interfaces are, so once it is released a skinning sdk (the source images and an xml theming structure) it's up to the community, I myself ,when I conceived the design, I had different looks in my mind.

As I said maybe I will contact spb. I can't think about another possible developer, TAT is far too advanced in this kind of works so they probably laught at me.
As far as I know there are a little more interfaces around but all revolve on the flexibility to the user and the same widget/app/icon grid philosofy (Yrgo, PointUI2..).

As you said probably I will never finish the work I initially proposed myself, i knew it was a lot of work to realize so i asked to have a single developer on every aspect of this interface. I found few to any, and some of them never came back to develop. I've also received many help proposal from people who then never replied again to my messages. Seems i found another persone interested but i know that we are only two.

We will see.

I kind of know how you feel, when you are anxious to to do something good something useful but everything is against you and you just cant make it happen. In times like this it's like "i wish i were rich and money would solve all the problems" but yet again we have limited resources :/ All I can do is wish you the best in making it real the way you wanted it, but if it wont work, go for the next best thing, go for the alternatives, accept the fact it wont be EXACTLY the way you planed it to be but at least it will be something but still try to make your best effort that even if modifications are a necesity you would still play an important role in the process of making it real.

Good luck man :excl:

I would love to see this come back to life.  However I would be of no help as a coder being that I don't know the first thing.  However I would be glad to donate anything I could if need be.

I too would love to see this project continue. The screens look so awesome!

If it were finished, I'm sure alot of Omnia (or other mobile) users would be willing to pay for it, as long as it was cheaper than SPB Mobile Shell

Would really like to see this interface completed as well. Don't know a thing about coding, which is sort of what the problem was, but I could donate. :-\ It's one of, if not the best interface for a phone I've seen.

Hellbender needed help getting coders to work on it and then had trouble just finding coders to attempt to work on it.  I guess the best thing for us to do, if we really wanted to get this done is to contact any WM developer and ask them to find hellbender....
Anyhow, I don't even know if Hellbender still checks this Thread.
