hehe, err, i should have rephrased that shouldnt i, no MANUAL way of speeding up the autofire, so we did it through code instead :)

It does not work on my Mitac Mio 8390 (GAPI?)

What can I do to make it work in GDI mode?

Guest midnight

erm, i'm afraid not, hence the reason we did not list the Mitacs in the compatability list, we will look into it for future games, but without actually having mitac development devices its kinda hard to see where the problems lie.

Problem with Mitac is simple: GAPI does not work ;-) Make it run in GDI, Mitac is fast enough, I can test it. My Mitac plays DivX 5.1.1 1000kbps videos with 128kbps 44KHz stereo sound, and plays Wolfen3D smooth, I think it can take any game in GDI mode.

Again, I can test it, send anything you like, I will run it and report results to you.

which would be fine, but relies on Gapidraw, which i beleive only runs with GAPI, so to fix the game we'd have to change the whole underlying game engine

Guest schriss

Well, you could, because as far as I know, there is no GAPI in Windows Mobile 2003SE... Making it work in GDI would make it compatible with future OS and ALL devices at the same time.

Guest midnight

thats incorrect, GAPI is in windows mobile 2003 se :)

and we are not prepared to remake a huge chunk of the game, as i said, future games will be different, but Eclipse 1.2 should hopefully be our final version.

You sure about GAPI and WM2003SE? I have been reading there is no GAPI because of the screen switching functionality, direct writing to buffer would cause crash...

Regarding FirstWave, I thought it would be simple "instruction" switch, but in that case I understand

there definitely is GAPI in sm2k3se, but, you have to bypass it if you want access to the high resolution, so thats only required if you want 240 x 320

unfortunately, like i said, we'd have to swap the entire graphics engine (remove gapidraw) to get this to work, so it aint that easy really. But we'll definitely look into it for future games, including Kumite

Well i havent tryed Gapidraw but i think you have source code of it also....

simply instead of putting everything on gapi surface put them in other surface and then use gdi to put them in screen.....

i made both doom and wolf which both required gapi to act like this for mitac owners .... som slowness will acour but as mitac speed is higher i dont think that might couse a problem

also if you have only lib file i think with some hacking it is also possible to give it a false screen buffer memory and try in your own tics method swaping them.....

as i mentioned, 1.2 is the final version, we wont be making any more changes, sorry, but this is the way it has to be, we are currently hard at work devloping Kumite, we cant continue to develop more and more things for Eclipse when the game is effectively finished :)

as for gapidraw, it is a lib, you do not get source, so it isnt as simple as what you say (and by the way, i aint a coder, so muff will have to answer and questions about hacking libs etc)

at the end of the day I understand that all mitac owners would like all gapi apps to have a -nogapi type switch (or even auto switch internally)

but wouldn't it make more sense for Mitac to actual fix the problem in the first place? that way everything that is already out there will instantly be fixed - no recoding by everyone else

it's only a problem with their phones, everyone else has managed to stick to the right protocols - if I were a Mitac owner, I'd be kicking Mitac very hard to fix the problem, it's not like Eclipse is the only game affected - it affects everything out there (bar the special case coding that Roozbeh has done on Wolf + Doom)

so I'm sorry, but whilst I sympathise with you all, I'm not planning on rewriting the Eclipse engine to fix the problem that Mitac have created - there is a huge amount of code in Eclipse that is tied into the GapiDraw library, which in turn is internally connected to Gapi

it is something we are considering carefully for future releases, but again I'd suggest that all Mitac owners harass the people who broke the support in the first place - Mitac themselves.

No need for that :D

GAPI issue has been solved

GAPI2GDI wrapper is here:

http://modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=110450

2nd thing:

GAPI DOES work on Mio8390, exe just needs to be signed, that's it guys :D I'm writing a tutorial about self-signing exe files on the phones... I have ALL stuff working, including Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, First Wave, Wolfen3D WITHOUT no-gapi option... on all Mio8390 clocked at 300MHz :D

By the way: Eclipse: First Wave rulez

Can we expect "Second Wave"? :D

Or maybe something completely different? :D

alieninventions have made it public knowlage they are working on a Kumite fighting game. See www.alieninvention.com

and, if you read closely about Eclipse you will read that First Wave is indeed the first in a series :D

Just tried Kumite demo, looks great :D But too short :D Will there be slow-motion combos?

Eclipse: First Wave doesn't work under WindowsMobile 2003 Second Edition !

It doesn't even load and start anything.

Guest Pondrew

Uh oh, that's not good if it proves to be correct.

Here's hoping this is something that can be worked around...

Guest midnight

that's incorrect, check out the MPx220 video on this very site, that has the game running perfectly fine :P

i'm presuming you tried it in the emulator for the PC???? if so, as far as i'm aware they didnt ship the SDK with Gapi, this is the reason PocketTV Team posted ages ago that WM2K3SE doesnt have Gapi, this is incorrect, WM2K3SE does have Gapi. However, to use the higher res on WM2K3SE 240 x 320 devices you have to bypass it.

Nope, I didn't tried on EMU or MPx220.
