Guest martin Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Yep T-mobile is GSM 1900 and Cingular GSM 850 but I suspect GSM 900 must be getting rolled out too. Does this mean you will be raiding your piggy bank encece
Guest kevlar Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I think the ' QUAD ' refers to the speaker, meaning it is a very expensive electrostatic speaker made by QUAD, who make very expensive HI FI speakers for the very well off. Motorola decided not to go the same route as HTC who fitted the silver foil cup from a MR Kipling Bakewell Tart to the E200 as a speaker. Either that it it transforms into a quad bike. Kevlar

Kevlar Interesting :) So we should expect good sound quality from the MPx220 then? (and no buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz )
Guest kyrkesmith Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I concur. The above image is found on Quad's website.
Guest zeta101 Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 very nice indeed...the outer screen looks interesting, did u notice when the guy closed the flip while the phone was still on and it had so funny cartoon characters on it...im guessing you can change that..hoping we can have photo caller id on it too. Are moto still doing a black version? i can decided which one id have, guess id have to see them in RL. Thanks to the mysterious guy who made the video btw :)
Guest nickcornaglia Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Does this mean you will be raiding your piggy bank encece  I don't know yet. It is always tempting to get a new phone. And this one looks NICE. But the funds are low lately due to getting ripped off on ebay. Plus it really isn't all that much more of a phone to be something that I can't live without (for the time being, that is!) :)
Guest Lordpercy Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Had to drop by and say that i can't help but feel quite dirty while watching the clip there is something very seedy about it.....maybe i've just been corrupted by porn at some stage. Anyhow great job! LP Lordpercy.com
Guest pierre Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Worked for me after a few attempt (in second window) Looks good; must be faster and less buggy than SPVs, but can it be called a revolution??
Guest Brody Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Revoluton? No. In the words of Tony Hayres, Evolution not Revolution :) (One for all you Partridge fans!)
Guest tiger33 Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 excellent clip thanks alot hope this phone comes out next month :-) so is it confirmed that this as a 1.3mp camera is it the same camera as the mpx100 and is the only difference between the mpx100 and mpx220 the form factor
Guest Vector Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I think the MPx100 may be a 1mp camera where as the MPx220 is 1.3mp...not sure tho?
Guest beersoft Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 from the random framegrabs i did, when the camera app loads the res of the camera is 1024x960 later Owen
Guest phonesmarts Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Great Vid...nice and long demo of the mpx Pros: Nice design, WM2k3, BT, Camera (or "calendar"), pic for outer LCD Cons: MiniSD, no USB5mini, not jet black otherwise, a very nice phone. Of course, im hoping for more offerings on the table...:)
Guest martin Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 is it the same camera as the mpx100 and is the only difference between the mpx100 and mpx220 the form factor The MPX100 and MPx both have 1.2 Megapixel cameras according to the spec sheets on the Motorola site http://www.motorola.com/mot/doc/1/1055_MotDoc.pdf http://www.motorola.com/mot/doc/1/1052_MotDoc.pdf No spec sheet on the MPX220 though :) Maybe it's not been finalised with the networks yet.
Guest prelude Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 I see a problem with the navigation pad, how do you do diagonals?
Guest refnulf Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Download and drag the file into an open IE window, if it's not associated already. Nice vid. very cool looking phone. Mini SD is sad but not the end of the world. Nor is the 4 way pad. But you would think Moto would have learned from other's mistakes. Thanks man, I tried playing it through IE by browsing for the file but it refused to even load. I almost installed flash MX. Haha, lucky for windows media player. I really can't decide atm, about the phones. They're all good and I was never a motorola fan. But they have just outdone themselves this time. Mpx100, mpx220, mpx, they're all good. I'd like to own all three phones. But since Im always broke, I might just have to settle for one :) I don't have any smartphones atm, just a normal standard cellphone. So any of these phones would be great.
Guest [email protected] Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Am I the only one bummed that it isn't QVGA?
Guest schriss Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Not a big step ahead if it does not have any advanced graphics chip, like nVidia GoForce3D (supports OpenGL ES and Direct3D Mobile APIs) http://developer.nvidia.com/object/hhsdk_h..._home.html#Docs I'm going to hold on, my Mio 8390 is still OK (broken GAPI sucks), I will wait for GoForce3D powered Smartphone....
Guest pierre Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Ya, me too my SPV E 100 works quite fine, and I got an old SPV in case other one collapses. Let's wait for a real change (or a very good deal for this MPX 220;)
Guest schriss Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Another thing: this phone has only 19MB of program memory, 11.7MB is used just after boot up, so there is only 7.5MB free. It's almost like on my previous smartphone: E100. My Mio 8390 has 27MB of program memory, 7MB used, 20MB free... And don't tell me that 7.5MB is enough :) So, why hardware specs are going down?? I need 500MHz CPU, lots of RAM and GoForce3D in my future Smartphone
Guest refnulf Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 you need a high end desktop computer, not a smartphone.
Guest peekie Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 one thing that lets the phone down is the cheap plastic look one drop on the floor and its probably on the way for a repair plus it can be scratched easy as well , will stick with the M1000 and the E200 and wait for the next version to come out which probably will be this time next year or sooner
Guest schriss Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 I will definitely skip MPx220, it has less memory than my current Smartphone :) refnulf: no, I need something that will compete with Tablet PCs  Actually, it's just a matter of time... GoForce3D (nVidia 3D chipset for cell phones) already has Picel Shader, super-sample antialiasing, multi-texturing... can you believe it? It's happening so fast
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Smartphones competing with Tablet PC? They're not really the same type of device are they... P
