Guest LSmith4285 Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 I have to agree with what mwright has said, I thought Yahoo Go 1.0 was a very useful application and it integrated nicely with the OS. I was constantly checking to see when 2.0 would be released as I thought it would have some good improvements. Unfortunately I uninstalled it within 24 hours, I install everything to the SD card that I can to minimize whats installed on the internal memory which probably caused it to be slow. I found the e-mails never seemed to sync unless I forced it, even then it wasn't as up to date as the webpage, and neither did the calendar, in fact not sure what/why it did it but it caused a lot of business appointments to disappear. Needless to say I haven't gone back to it, all I wanted was a simple e-mail and calendar sync which version 1.0 handled very well, this offers features I have other specific applications for which are generally better designed for that purpose.
Guest DSF Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 That's the marketing speak and my thoughts? It's a very cool application. Really! very cool? huh? have you ever used Yahoo Go version 1? Sorry, but all I think it's that you overhypen this software is because you earn a lot from yahoo by advertising their product. I personally use only their mail & messenger servics, don't care about the rest (flikr, etc). Version 1 was the best release ever. It's integration with Outlook Mobile was very cool. You could attach file via file managers.. download attachaments easy, reply via outlook, etc. Now, you have to use their heavy application for reading and composing(without attach). Eye candy/carousel interface?! I prefer the WM interface, more suitable for me and more effective. Plus on V1 , all your mail were downloaded (that fits your filter rules) and you don't have to wait for each mail that you open yahoo go 2 also is slowly. and it seems that it's a java application. (java file + java emulator , all in one). earlier version (yahoo go 2 gamma) had a .jar file separatly, now i guess it's masked somewhere the program files. My note for this software: 2. I REALLY miss the Outlook integration.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 I never used version 1. I think version 2 is written in .net actually? P
