Guest Paul (MVP)
If it won't do ANYTHING (i.e. you can't get to the Omnia splash) then it's dead... P
Guest Binh Nguyen
I also bricked my Omnia. I used GrandPrix and flashed the PDA ROM into the Phone part... now it's no phone. You may read more details here: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=findpost&pid=909704 Recently I heard some suggestion from chaimd that "SD Download Mode" my help. But so far I couldn't find how to enable this mode. This mode is also known as the Bootloader mode using hardward buttons. Does anyone know how to turn on the Bootloader mode or SD Download Mode for this model Omnia i900?
Guest brunopais
Mine is on the MONAHANS state as well. Contacted Samsung Denmark, but no answer until now. I got an answer from Samsung Nordic, saying they can't help me. From what I read, some of the motherboards have been "fried" in the flash process. But because XP sees my device as a MONAHANS, it should mean a firmware and not an hardware fault. We need Samsung to provide a driver or the toolbox software or a Micro SD flashable rom. Meanwhile, I'm back to the N95
Guest ziko87
OK but when all the parts are not damaged, just the software, I can`t believe that it could not be reinstaled I just can`t believed. Like the Windows of the computer. You are telling me that there is no specialist that can fix this ?
Guest Paul (MVP)
The microSD method sounds promising - except nobody knows how to do it! P
Guest broughs
Paul quick question - trying to narrow down why some devices fry and others don't - Everything seems the same but I also know there were problems with Vista. What version XP are you using. I'm service pack 3 ( I was wondering about drivers?). Stu
Guest Paul (MVP)
Ditto... maybe it's a bad batch of serial numbers? P
Guest broughs
Its about all that is left. I am expecting a new Omnia tomorrow, (upgrade on Orange) other away to get fixed, but i am a bit reticent to upgrade immediately until "I think" I know what is going wrong Stu

Guest ziko87
I think the problem is that people like me who did not unchek the "phone bootloader" have killed their phones. Paul correct me if I`m wrong but does it have to be cheked ? ? ?

Guest ziko87
OK. I`ll send my Omnia to a phone service (not Samsung`s). So Paul do you think they can fix the dead phone by flashing an original ROM, which they have, with a thing called "BOX". And if they can`t do you think they can fix the "motherboard" or order a new one from Samsung ? Is this "motherboard" the proccesor of the phone ? or is it some kind of a chip ? In two words "Is there a way to fix a dead Samsung Omnia without exchange?" Ou and last thing - my phone does get a red light when put on the charger (Does this sound promising for me ?) :D
Guest Paul (MVP)
I have no idea what the recovery process is sadly. The only promising sign would be booting to the Omnia logo... P

Guest C J
Ok, as some of you might already know, I flashed both my Omnias on my XP recently to H1. 1st 1 went smoothly, 2nd 1 went dead(monahans). Sent it into Samsung Service Centre and still not back yet. Finally got comfirmation for a 1-2-1 exchange. Now i guess there's no coming back if you've reached the state of 'monahans'. And i do believe in the theory of the diff batch/burnt motherboard thingy. Both my omnias came from the same service provider/same shop/same guy. <_<

Guest citrix
hello somebody please help. ;) I bricked the phone when updating to HH1 rom. this should not be like this since it is official release. the phone has power on when running update, i can see the bars moving. after it complete, screen says job done. then next time, no power, i tried everything i can. some people said SD download mode will get it to work, but how can it work if power wont come on. anybody know the steps for SD download mode and/or how to force the phone turn on? I sent email to samsung but no answer. I am in USA, service center in US will only accept phones manufactured in US.
Guest Unisoldrew
Paul. Because i got the PORT CREATE FAILED error when going to HH1, do you think it might be best to NOT chance HH3? Despite the error my versions are PDA DXHH1 and PHONE HG5 I didn't hard reset but did install the modem driver. I wouldn't expect you to say "yeah go ahead" for obvious reasons, but if you think i would be taking a big risk, please say and i'll leave well alone. I'm very happy at HH1 for now so don't want to go spoiling things! Thanks. P.S. If i sound like a novice, that's cos i am ;) Edited September 12, 2008 by Unisoldrew
Guest stephanizer
Hi guys, Just downloaded the latest i900XKHH1 update (dutch version) from the Samsung site (20080912141209125_i900XKHH1_UserUpgrader_XP.exe) Installed the modem drivers (http://sg.samsungmobile.com/promotionevent...isitgbn=0000012) and executed the upgrade software. Upgrading seemed well, even a downloading bar that went till 100%. The upgrade package also showed a message that i could disconnect the cable. After turning the i900 back on it just keeps displaying the black screen with the white Samsung Omna logo. Hard reset isn't working at all. Next, called Samsung Netherlands helpdesk (0900-samsung) and they told me that I was nog the first with this problem. They told me that the firmware was a 'empty' firmware and he was wondering why Samsung didn't remove it from the Samsung site. ;) I had to go to a Samsung Service Centre for a repair.. They couln't tell me if upgrading (booting) from micro sd is working. Any suggestions to fix thix issue is very welcome.
