Guest fuzzmo Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) Current device: Nokia N95 and my bro-in-laws old Vario2 (for testing purposes) Next device: 1 of Xperia X1 or HTC Touch HD (would have been Omnia i900 but Orange don't want me to have it) Mp3 player is the Sony Walkman NWZ-A818 coupled with the Denon AH-C700 headphones - the best combo for music (for me anyways)... Laptop is the Dell XPS 1710 carried in a Akara Pakuma rucksack - not exactly mobile friendly but it does strengthen my shoulders whilst breaking my back! Edited October 19, 2008 by fuzzmo
Guest FlangeArtist Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Current Mobile: HTC Touch Diamond - Found that I wasn't using the keyboard on the Kaizer! Future Mobile: HTC Touch HD - REALLY want to converge my 160gb iPOD with a mobile phone and just carry 1 device! I'm a M$FT developer, so will stick with WM Mobile devices! Other devices: 160gb iPOD, Dell 2330 Ultra portable, more laptops and old phones than you can shake a dozen sticks at!!! Want: Mobile device with 3.8" @ 800x600 (when not using the built in projector!), with at least 100Gb storage, GPS, 11Gb+ HSPDA/HSUPA, 3.5mm Headphone jack, built in lazer keyboard projector.
Guest 1Mack Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) Current Mobile: Omnia Future Mobile:What to play with the SEX1 so I will order it when available (the 128mb dedicated graphics has me drooling) edit:AFTER READING LOTS OF REVEIWS AND SEEING ALL THE ROM DEVELOPMENT IN PROGRESS ON XDA I HAVE A TOUCH PRO ON THE WAY :D  Other devices: Ipaq 2795, Acer Aspire, Creative Zen W, Cowon D2, Sony DSC T200 and many other things Edited October 26, 2008 by 1Mack
Guest paholman Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) Current Mobiles: iPhone 3G (8GB Black) and O2 XDA Orbit What I like about it: Does nearly everything I want, Phone, Email (corporate and personal), Camera, Internet, VPN, VNC, SSH, MP3, MP4 , Games and other Apps (Shazam - Brilliant!) . UI is lovely, fits nicely in pocket, and easy to remove from pocket. What I don't like about it: Slippery little sucker, like a wet soap. It has built-in GPS that can't be used yet as a Sat Nav. Why???. Still having to use Orbit for CoPilot and CamerAware. Previous devices: iPhone (8GB), Nokia N95 8GB, Toshiba Portege G500, QTEK 8500 StrTrk, Motorola MPX 220, Orange SPV E650 (HTC S710), Orange SPV C500, Motorola MPX200.... and there's a lot more but not worth the mention... Future Mobile : My ultimate device would be something that does everything I need, and can work around the world without paying high roaming charges, or the need to swap sim cards or carriers. That must mean a Satellite phone with decent camera, video camera and flash, that does everything Omnia, Experia or iphone 3G does, but stores a lot more, runs much faster, a lot smoother, lasts longer and costs less  Edited October 20, 2008 by paholman
Guest tepss Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Current: MDA Compact 4: dutty's v2.6 Next: touch HD probably althought still thinking about X1 or touch pro, but probably touch hd gonna win over everybody and will be coming in november.
Guest DarkWanderer Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) I'm quite shocked to see how many of you have a couple of phones at a time. How DO you afford it?!? I'd quite like to have an iPhone and a camera phone for going out, but can't afford it  Simple really, I don't buy them new, buy an older model an upgrade the ROM(at your own risk). I bought both my devices on eBay. I got my QTek 8500 (StrTrk) for £50 (just after the Expansys clear out a few months ago) it was boxed in mint condition. My XDA Mini S (Wizard) is rather battered and came with no accessories just box, but since everything uses miniUSB these days that wasn't a problem, I bought it for £26. And those people listing the newest kit as current will probably be on 18-month contracts to get them. Edited October 22, 2008 by DarkWanderer
Guest S710demon Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) Current Device: HTC TyTN with the original Rom since it is going back for repairs under warranty. And a Nokia E51 from work. Next Device: Either the SE xperia of Touch HD Kinda hoping the Touch HD Pro will come because I really like my keyboard. Edited October 22, 2008 by S710demon
Guest WILBUR Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 should have made this topic a poll! current handset / next handset: touch hd / touch pro / g1 / xperia / iphone 3G / other - i'd love to see the results!
Guest acbanks Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 (edited) Current Device: T-Mobile G1 Next Device: Not really looking at the moment... because I'm quite happy with the G1. Other Kit: Dell M1210 12" laptop, 80gb Zune Edited October 24, 2008 by acbanks
Guest timking Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Currently got a Sony Ericsson K810i, after getting annoyed with SPV's a year or so ago. Never had a better phone, does everything I need and never had any faults. Decided that that xperia is a bit tasty, so getting that imminently, always nice to have a WM device to play around with!
Guest wkmmx500 Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Previous: Eten X500 : fallen twice - 1st time camera glass broken but still okay / 2nd time GPS broken - time for an upgrade Now : Omnia 16Gb - will stay for a while Next : Touch HD (I just love big screens - or am getting older and my eyes need a big screen (-; ) Ultimate : Something like Omnia or Touch HD but with Blackberry Connect (and no - not a rim device - I want WM) - the boss has given me a bberry (which I don't like) so at the moment I have no pushmail (is actually not so bad to be honest (-; ) Note: I'm open to G1 but would need: - lots of free applications - GPS (with navi software) - big screen Only then I would consider it.
Guest Hydroxpert Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 had a n70...then n73...then k800i...now omnia! will probably change in one year or so...so there's no real point saying what i want next with so many prospective devices on the horizon haha
Guest Jemma Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Hey, Current devices are:- Qtek 8500 in pink (main phone and MP3 player) upgraded to 6.0 and overclocked to 240mhz Nokia E70 - The Jesusphone in my opinion but tooo bulky for svelte pocket-age HTC S710/E650 - not bad but not great - good keyboard. Nokia 9300 in Gold - Spare phone - still good but sans WiFi All use Opera browser and the WiFi computers also have Widsets on there too. In all honesty I probably wouldnt call any of these phones as such - they're a whole level of functionality higher Replacement/upgrade will be - Samsung Omnia - I dont know if I will like it, but there is no chance I would touch an iDIOTphone Jemma xx
Guest Confucious Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 All these people with lots of devices have never tried an iPhone. It is the canines gonads.
Guest markvader Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 (edited) Having never committed to getting tied into a long contract (currently on a sim only monthly contract with a £5mth web add-on from vodafone) I've never had the latest and greatest MS phones, usually pick them up cheap of ebay after they've been out a while. Current Devices: XDA II (Himalaya) & C600 (Tornado). Cant quite decide which one I want to use on a regular basis. Use the XDAII for its large screen, primarily for TomTom, seems to have an appauling battery life so I need to keep it close to the charger. Really love browsing web with Opera on the touchscreen. Use the old faithful C600 (Platinum Edition Rom by NiTroGen) for regular email, phone and google maps. Would be better if I could get my 4gb card to work in the C600. Past Devices: C500 (Typhoon), C600 (Tornado), Qtek 9100 (Wizard) - Missed not having the wifi of the 9100 and bought a wifi sd card for the xdaII Future Devices. Really liking the features of the X1 and the Palm Treo Pro. Want my next device to have built in GPS, Wifi and probably a qwerty keyboard. I also use the 2nd phone to save switching between sim cards when travelling. Have a maxroam sim for travelling. Cuts down the cost in nearly every country of the world and saves you having to buy a local sim in each country. Edited October 27, 2008 by markvader
Guest Boinng Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 All these people with lots of devices have never tried an iPhone. It is the canines gonads. Absolutely! Until a week or so ago, I was using the Tytn II. I feel like I gave it (and WinMo) a more than fair go over the year it was my constant companion, but it was always a slight disapointment. Too big and bulky for what it offered really, and it excelled at nothing - the keyboard, camera, GPS, multimedia, all compromised in some way or another. I ummed and ahhed over newer WM devices like the Diamond, Touch Pro, Omnia, X1, but for all the in depth discussion that goes on here and elsewhere, really and truthfully... they're all pretty much of a muchness, aren't they? None of them are all that different to the Tytn II, which I was pretty sick of by the end. So like a few others here, I ended up defecting to something that genuinely improves on things. The Iphone 3G has its shortcomings, but still manages to be a far better device than any other smartphone I've used. The Exchange support gives it much of the business functionality I always appreciated with WM (with a few bearable exceptions) and the multimedia is completely peerless. The screen is brilliant, the battery life is great compared to the Tytn II, the keyboard is far better despite being only virtual, the GPS is quicker (though limited for the moment to Googlemaps), and as for the UI - well - enough said. Everything just works, simply and easily and with no surprises, right down to the switch on the side for silent. I don't walk into 18mth contracts lightly, I'm a one phone, one contract kind of guy, but I'm more than satisfied with the iPhone till April after next...
Guest penguin Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Current Device: my trusty old Vario 2 although i do switch to the even older more trusy SPV C600 when im going out on the town & want a nice slim device for the pockets. Next Device: more than likely the X1 although it may be the touch pro, im waiting to get my hands on both in a store to see which i prefer  went for the XPERIA in the end, arrived sim free from handtec saturday morning :D
Guest Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 @Paul what about an "official s740...ask Paul thread"?? I'll second that, current device is S620 (tried touch and Kaiser but just touch screen ends up wrecking me head!) Really looking fwd to the S740, would love to see a Modaco review <_<
Guest MikeWard1701 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Current Device: T-Mobile Vario II New Device: HTC Touch HD or SonyEricsson Xperia X1 Also on the shopping list; SanDisk 16gb MicroSD and Plantronics Voyager 855 Whens the best time to buy; Now, the Christmas madness, or wait 'til the New Year?
Guest Terminal Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Current device: Orange SPV M700 aka HTC Trinity running WM 6.1 with TouchFLO. 8GB micro SD with mini SD adapter To tell the truth my M700 has been with me now for 2 years and it still holds it own with most other touch screen devices, especially now I've installed the latest TouchFLO ROM on to it. I cannot believe the iPhone doesnt work with any sat nav programs! Whats the point of GPS? My M700 has been running tomtom 6 for the past couple of years, I couldnt live without it. Next device: Touch HD. What can I say, its out on Orange, I'm due an upgrade, I could use the additional processing and the bigger screen will be nice. MP3: Zune 80 (I'm not a big apple fan)
