Hi all, has anyone had an issue with the camera not focusing? I was using my i8000 for 4 days and wondered why my photos were blurry although a couple were in focus and yes I changed the settings from macro to normal/face. It has no problems in close ups or stuff within 1 metre. I have done a hard reset and all that. Any thoughts - ie hardware or is it software?

Did you press the button 1/2 way for it to focus first before pressing it down all the way?

Yes, when the focusing did work, you can actually see the focus on screen moving in and out, once the focus is right, the centre turns from red to green.

I normally use centre weighted, however I did try matrix and spot but it did not may make any difference, it just doesn't want to autofocus.

Why don,t you try install other rom (doing a backup of the original, of course)? .

I've been thinking about doing this, however I was hoping that I could isolate the issue (h/w or s/w) before sending it away for replacement. The rom reflash is probably the way to go but there is just no enough info out there to do a backup of the existing rom and installing another rom that may have additional bugs. Will keep you posted.

Update

Looks like it may have been a hardware fault at least thats what the supplier told me as they tried a software re install. In any case the replacement is working fine.
