Hi.

I am the new owner of a Omnia 2 and have a maybe dumb question but what really kills me. I live on mainland china so ihope there is some people here what knows how the telefon system works etc..

My question. I find it difficult to get a connection to internet or China Mobile wap service. I need someone to help me with settings in my special chenario.

OK here we go.

In my home i use Internet wifi connection, but i need to use a VPN connection so this is my first question, how setup that if i need any program or any connection at home to use this connection.

On the go, i need to use China Mobile wap connection but that seams not to work for me now, it worked on my last phone the N97 so how do i setupthat if i am not at home the connection will try to use the wap. It looks for GPRS all the time but cant connect, not sure if China Mobile has this.

OK, now in my office i need normal wifi connection but not including the VPN because that dosent work.

Seams confusing :) i need some help please.

Forgot to say, i use the G7 Rom Chinese/english version and i saw every time i want to connect with Opera or Mikado it try to connect to GPRS CHT network what is Taiwanese, figure out why. I cant figure out how to delete that connection

@Fetterbr,

(I Don't Know what it is written in chinese juste over (and i'm too lizy to use translator).

For China Mobile Wap (internet):

1. On the handset, tap Start and select Settings.

2. Tap the Connections tab.

3. Tap the Connections icon.

4. Tap the Advanced tab.

5. Tap Select Networks.

6. Under the first drop down box, tap New…

7. In the Enter a name for these settings: field, enter China Mobile (or whatever you want)

8. Tap the Modem tab.

9. Tap New…

10. In the Enter a name for the connection: field, enter whatever you want (i.e. China Mobile net)

11. Tap the Select a modem drop-down list and select Cellular Line (GPRS).

12. Tap Next.

13. In the Access point name: field, enter cmnet

14. Tap Next.

15. Tap Next. (all field empty)

16. Tap Finish.

17. select China Mobile to programs that automatically connect to internet ...

Now for wap (mms) :

Same previous explanations, create connexion name "China Mobile MMS"

with modem Cellular Line (GPRS)

access point : cmwap

other field empty.

Do not select this connection as programs that automatically connect to internet ...

In mms setting :

GPRS APN : cmwap

Wap Home : http://wap.monternet.com

Gateway IP : 10.0.0.172

Port: 9201

Looks complicate but it is more easy to do than to explain !

EDIT : about your connection already set to Taiwan, you can forget it or change origine of your phone :

dialpad : *#1546792*# then preconfiguration with password : *#81230*#

(unfortunatly, even you select china/china mobile there is no pre-settings in the ROMs I've tried)

Remember, that make a hard reset !

Hi.

Have done what you said and done it several time now to make sure it is right but i get the error box when ever it tryes to connect. I have only the small white box in the top with a E inside for EDGE but not sure if connect or need this. The error is saying i cant connect with the current settings. Also when i make a wifi connection to my router in home i cant connect any where. Really frustrating.

Thanks

Maybe i've not explained so good !

For China Mobile internet, the only thing you need to know is "cmnet".

And cmwap for MMS.

... I remember ! there is a Cab in XDA ....I try to find it !

I have just yesterday upgraded using cecany's ROM of Win 6.5. I have got an issue when trying to add the connections as you said. After i setup the setting for GPRS connection and safe i do the same for MMS but than the GPRS connection is deleted, i seams like i can only have 1 man made setup at a time. Do you have any advice on this.?

thanks. Finn

i may not be hat knowledgable but the china version of omnia 2 had some hardware removed to prevent wifi or something or so i heard . You may want to check unless you got your phone from elsewhere?

@DaOffspring : ??????

I've bought my phone in China and I don't think anything is missing ?

If I used in Thailand with AIS simcard, I can connect full internet.

However, there are too many internet restricitions in China (GRRR ) , this is not from any hardware issus !

@Fetterbr :

I've just installed the last J1 ROM from SECANY (with CSC XEFIJ1, 'cause I'm French!) and setup connections form ChinaMobile as usual, w/o any trouble !

Goto Samsung parameters/advanced parameters/connections/connections .... and you will find the same setup prog than with any WM6.1 !
