Hello, I'm running the current build of the U8230 Vanilla Cupcake Style ROM (v1.1). All is well with the install and my phone is running better than ever.

My problem is, I'm trying to buy/install Copilot Live (the UK+IRE version which is about £25) but I cannot find it in the market. When I do a search for it, all I can find is the US ($19.99), European (£50.43) and Australian (£44.99) versions but not the UK+IRE specific version.

I've tried just about everything google recommends from restarting, reinstalling to wiping, etc. but nothing seems to work.

Before trying this ROM (original T-mobile ROM) the UK+IRE version of Copilot was available as I almost bought it then.

Is anyone else having the same problem? Any idea's how to fix this?

thats strange, i'm using this rom and i can see the UK+IRE version, its £23.47

2 questions:

1) Where do I get the "December update" from?

2) What is MCK?

The update is on first page in the instructions mate and MCK i think stands for MoDaCo Custom Kernel ;)

I've updated and all seems well, still recognising all my apps on the ext4 partition, although I did need to update most of them, probably because I cleared the dalvik-cache from the custom recovery. Speaking of custom recovery it needs to be reflashed after the December update, finally got to see the standard recovery image though, not really all that exciting. I did manage to remember to pull the ball breaker game out of the /system/app folder before I wiped the t-mobileness from the phone this time.

Great ROM thanks. have just flashed my phone and all seems fine.

I did have to wipe and then flash to get rid of the "Reboot Required" message on the kernel version though.

Ciao Paul! I just brought a shiny new Pulse to an Italian friend. The lack of a simple "sudo" gave us entertainment for the last for hours... But now we are over it. .-) Thing is, now that Amon recovery is in place we want to install the rom... and the link is down!!! Paul, please help us: it's snowing out here and we have nothing to do but wait for your link to come to life again .

ciao, V. and M.

Thanks for the update.

You mention doing a "wipe" can this be done from the recovery menu?

Posted

I did the following:

-Nandroid Backup

-December update as described

-Installed recovery image (newest version).

-Booted into recovery with the key combo Menu+End Call

-Did a ext partition wipe followed by a factory wipe

-Installed the newest version of the u8230 ROM

-Rebooted and setup the phone

Do I still need to install Superboot? Or is it obsolete now I have installed the newest version of both the recovery and the u8230 rom?

Also, it seems the version displayed in the About screen still reads version 1.1 instead of 1.2, not really important, but might be a bit confusing in the future when you want to be sure which version you have.

hey guys u all seem to have no problem...and we wonder why...when clicking on the link we are being redirected to the main page of modaco. Can somebody please mirror it somewhere....please? Thanks a million guys...

It has referrer checking, disable adblock, referrer block or whatever in your browser, try another browser, try doing file save as.

It's to stop people deep linking and stealing bandwidth, which is a problem.

You have to hexedit the RIL file. I'll do it for the next release.

Well one really good reason is if your phone messes up when you are away from your computer and you can restore a backup to fix it even if it won't boot far enough to let you run quickboot.

What was causing it? Adblock?

to be honest, we do not know. but it wouldn't work from PC1... so we tried PC2 and it worked like charm :-)

Guys,

I've currently got the u8230 1.1 rom installed on a pre-december update phone. In order to install the new 1.2 rom can i simply apply the december update (in post 1) followed by the usual flash of the 1.2 rom from the recovery tool? Or do i need to do a nandroid restore back to the original pulse rom, followed by the official dec update, then the 1.2 rom?

Also, with each new rom, if there is a corresponding update to AmonRa's recovery, does this need to be applied before flashing the rom or can we use any version of the recovery to flash a rom?

Thanks for your patience with these 'noobie' questions!

P.S. Just wanted to say how much i'm loving 'Android' after years of symbian and windows mobile....

Posted

That's exactly how to apply - december update then new ROM, no need to go to stock first. :)

Recovery updates are completely independent - it's worth flashing them, but they don't correspond to updates in the main ROMs.

Help...

Just upgrading to the new 1.2 firmware. I've installed the December update, but now I cannot get back into Recovery mode. I do not have ROOT access anymore, so cannot "adb shell reboot recovery". I tried the "Menu + End" keyboard shortcut but only got a basic Recovery mode with only three options (Reboot System Now, Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition).

Do I have to "re-root" my phone? Not sure what to do next.

Ignore me, just reapplied the new Recovery image using Bootloader mode, and now I am back into Recovery and am flashing 1.2 now.

Cheers!
