i guess the capabilities of the front camera only allows for a small picture to be taken? :)

you need a registry editor, such as SKTools. Then add a new entry as per the instruction :)

do you have to download something first

no you don't mate, just edit the registry as per instructions in Post#1 (but you need a registry editor e.g. SKTools, Resco Registry Editor)

done and working very nicelly. The option e beneath the photo/video button, where you have the option of how to shoot, front camera is the last one, named "auto".

As a 920 owner, I obviously can't use this (bummer).

However, this thread raised, again, a question I constantly have for these numbnuts that make these devices: Why was this disabled to begin with? WTF is the reasoning?

The only think I can think of is there is a QA issue (i.e. some serious bug they couldn't work out before release). I can think of no good reason otherwise to disable functionality that time was spent engineering, and as far as we can tell, works.
