Guest vagus Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) download fix from: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JAE0XH0D Please make a back-up of your original windows\\gpsidril.dll install my fix in "automatic install" folder if an error happens, you must manually copy gpsidril.dll in "manual install folder" to windows folder of your device Until Microsoft finds the bug in gpsid.dll and Samsung makes a good gpsidril.dll this is the temporary fix. It is their duty to make a good driver that doesn't need GPSModDriver or reducing cache. We are the customers, and paid for those devices instead of iPhOnE Update: I am using wm6.5.3 JH2 ROM with JF1 phone (radio) ROM without any patch. I think, Samsung fixed gps with radio rom, and changing gpsidril.dll is obsolote.gpsfix.rar Edited June 27, 2011 by vagus

Guest Ender Psp Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 What is this supposed to fix? Yeah, I second that. What is this thing for, what does it do and why? And please no "useful" advices for searching (1 people posting will help 100 not to search).

This fix is a real improvment for those like me who recieved the phone with WM6.5 so we were dissapointed with Gps signal streith. Question: What is the sreen shot that you posted? Its an app for Gps? Thanks
Guest jacobgong Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Why does everyone seem to know how to replace stuffs in the Windows directory except me? first I can't see it on my PC second it won't allow me to replace anything.
Guest kkimber Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 What is this supposed to fix? Is it trojan or WHAT?
Guest ToToS79 Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Hi, I have just installed JB1 and the date of the GPSDRIL.dll is 20/01/2010. Should I install this fix?
Guest ipaq3870 Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Quoting the "what is this.txt" inside the archive: created by Vagus from Amiga Another ppcwarez support for an unresolved official problem I did again, as I did for Dell Axim x51v WM6 WPA fix n Sep 29, 2007 this archive contains a gpsidril.dll file from wm6.1 ii2 omnia rom, and 3 reduced cache settings of HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver below: \Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\InputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512 \Drivers\Samsung GPS Hardware\OutputBufferSize: set from 4096 to 512 \Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize: set from 16384 to 1024 Besides, I suggest you: (1) Use COM4: for software port (2) Do not forget to insert your simcard, and do not use use your phone as a standalone GPS device. weird gps driver needs simcard (I don't mean internet connection, or Xtra). (3) Use JB1 Radio ROM. It is possibly contain best wm6.5 code for gps fixes now (March 1 2010). background: You have i8000 omnia II gpgs fix was fast and reliable in wm6.1 but poor when you upgraded to wm6.5 Why? Did Samsung messed things up? Or is it Microsoft again? Microsoft gives source code of gpsid.dll to manufacturers. And they makes their own drivers. For example Omnia uses gpsidril.dll and htc uses GPSID_QCT.dll in their devices Microsoft manages gps for better fixes, he makes drivers for it(gpsid.dll), right? http://blogs.msdn.com/cenet/archive/2006/1...hould-care.aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/croman/archive/2008/...st-friends.aspx but sometimes bugs happen. They made mistakes in the past. http://blogs.msdn.com/cenet/archive/2006/0...ion-issues.aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/cenet/archive/2007/1...m6-release.aspx http://nativemobile.blogspot.com/2007/12/w...workaround.html I think they did again! Some Omnia and htc owners get better fix after reducing cache How could it be possible? Weird. Both HTC and Omnia owners suffers gps reception and are satisfied by a translating driver, GPS Mod Driver. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=571266 So the idea is: use wm6.1 gps driver on wm6.5 i8000's. How to install? Please make a back-up of your original \windows\gpsidril.dll install my fix in auotomatic installation folder if an error happens, you must manually copy gpsidril.dll in manual instal folder to \windows folder of your device I extracted wm6.1 ii2's gpsidril.dll for you. Just copy it to your \windows folder with force by using Resco explorer or something similar. Don't forget to backup your original gpsidril.dll before doing this. Until Microsoft finds the bug in gpsid.dll and Samsung makes a good gpsidril.dll this is the temporary fix. It is your duty to make a good driver that doesn't need GPSModDriver or reducing cache. We all paid for that devices.
Guest mattandy Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 no work for me :( installed with no problems but fixing time is still so long p.s. i followed all the instructions written by Amiga (registry values) but no way to make gps work
Guest vagus Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 it is igo8 fixed to 6 satellites Question: What is the sreen shot that you posted? Its an app for Gps?
Guest vagus Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 installing cabinet file must enough. it both copies the dll and changes the registry. You may need a soft reset to reload the gps driver by the system, if cabinet did not do it for you. no work for me :( installed with no problems but fixing time is still so long p.s. i followed all the instructions written by Amiga (registry values) but no way to make gps work

Guest achugar Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) Vagus, thanks a lot for your work. I have a problem that i think its not realted with your gpsfix: I use Garmin Xt (becouse im from Uruguay and for this latin america region is the best software) The problem is that when i run Gramin there is a gap of time in witch garmin seems to be frozen in terms of satellite searching (i notice taht when i start the soft, the phone try to connect to the internet but fails on that becouse i dont have a data plan in the phone) after a few seconds (like 30 seconds) garmin start to really search satellites. Have you any ideas what could be the problem here? last: In Nogarder GPS, Gps settings have to be in "Ms base" mode, not in "Satndalone". Is this correct? Thanks a lot. Edited March 2, 2010 by achugar
Guest vagus Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 I'm not a gps expert. I'm a reverse engineer. Vagus, thanks a lot for your work. I have a problem that i think its not realted with your gpsfix:

Guest inllh Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 installed and found the sensitivity of receiving GPS signal became higher even in door where close to the window... thanks a lot.

I suppose, there is nothing wrong with i8000 gps hardware. If people having problems, it must be software related. JB1 Radio ROM, COM4: software port, reduced size buffers and ii2 version gpsidril.dll gave best fixes for me, so for the other i8000 wm6.5 users. Edited March 3, 2010 by vagus
Guest Vostradamus Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Just curious.... do you think it's possible that on some operator-branded rom the issue has been solved? I ask 'cause on the very first gps cold fix on my O2 (WM 6.5 rom branded by the italian operator "Wind") I was indoor (close to a window, but indoor nonetheless), cloud covered sky, and it got 7 satellites in 2 minutes max, while on my Omnia 1 (no brand wm 6.1 rom) the first cold fix took me about 15 minutes in the open under a 100% clear sky :(

My O2 takes over 4 mins to get a fix from cold start without XTRA, and that's about what others have confirmed too. You're right, it can be. I don't remember if that time with the Omnia 1 I was using xtra (it was over 1 year ago) but that could actually be the reason. When I'll have the chance I'll try without xtra, just to test it :(

Guest Igor Alpha Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 No work for me too... Installed with softreset and see no differences. GPS still slow, laggy and lost connections with sat's. Only salvation is GPSgate. I don't like to use such proxy as GPSGate, but theres no choice.
