Guest attn1 Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Anxious to see if this will work on the Legend's AT&T brother - the Aria.
Guest Claudius Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) Hi Paul ! Thanks for the rooting tutorial ! I didn't try it yet cause I'm on a 2.03. Will you share technical details of your method to see if it can be easily adapted to 2.03 ? Kind regards Claudius Edited June 18, 2010 by Claudius
Guest boibo Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) im stuck at "writing zip..." after the "sending zip" whats wrong? Any idea? Only have the HTC logon on the phone. edit: after editing step1.windows and removing the duplicate entry, it stil stucks at writing zip. Pulling battery works (phone still boots normal), version is 1.31.405. --- i got it to work! I think the problem is the generation of the goldcard. First, i didnt run the editor in admin (i have uac off, but perhaps thats not the same thing) and 2nd, i used ctrl+v, ie paste insert and NOT paste write. But now it worked, it wrote and flashed. ;) Edited June 19, 2010 by boibo

Guest oba1 Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 hey paul, we are waiting patiently for a root procedure to 1.32. probably not much interest in the legend here and elsewhere - but some of us bought this nice phone. keep up the great work!

If you root your phone, you cannot install OTA updates? They will fail to install? If this is so… Why don’t I see more people complaining on this issue?
Guest ariaxu Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 The Legend launched in Canada on the Bell network last week. Unfortunately, no one I've talked to about it has managed to root the Bell edition. I've personally tried with 6 different MicroSD cards of various sizes, under Linux and Windows, and three of my friends have also tried with no success. I've made goldcards for several different devices before, so I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right. Without exception, the process fails during Step 1 of the guide, with the message "FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)". Continuing to Step 2 results in the usual "device not found" message. The bootloader says: LEGEND PVT SHIP S-ON HBOOT-0.43.0003 MICROP-0816 TOUCH PANEL-SYN07_0103 RADIO-7.08.35.05 Apr 30 2010,23:52:18 Settings->Hardware->Software Information: Firmware: 2.1-update1 Baseband: 47.37.35.09U_7.08.35.05 Am I stuck in unprivileged mode, or can anyone offer any insight?

If this is so… Why don’t I see more people complaining on this issue? I think because they know it before rooting and prefere a rooted device above an OTA update as i do i do not know exactly what are the updates or better said what does the update consists of. but to be honest i am perfectly happy with my rooted MoDaCo rom on my device and i am sure: as soon as a froyo rom is released for the legend it will bee rooted and put on the net sucsess met updating je telefoon Groetjes
Guest CRNeo Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I'm slightly confused... I've just got a vodafone branded legend... HBOOT is 43.00001 Will this guide work for me? I assume once I complete this I can then install MCR on it? Thanks

The important number is 1.xx, if it's 1.32 (or 2.03) it won't work, if the number is lower it will.

Well if I go into Settings --> About Phone --> Software Information Firmware version 2.1 Baseband version 47.26.35.04U_7.05.35.26L Kernel version 2.6.29-9a3026a7 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1 The Build Number is 1.23.161.1 CL139791 release-keys The Software Number is 1.23.161.1 When I go to the Recovery menu I have HBOOT-0.43.0001 I've already created a Goldcard (had to use mms0 on mine) so was going to go ahead with the rest of the guide... should I be ok? Don't want to brick my phone before I've even used it! Cheers

Guest pugi Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) Help! I hope I didn't distroy my Legend. So I got a brand new Legend this last Friday. It's 0.43.0001, and 1.31.7xx or something like that. Followed all the instructions, created a Goldcard, d/l the zip file, unziped it, started the step1-windows.bat and then it got stuck at a line ending with "system,100...." (sorry I'm at work and can't remember exactly). after an hour, nothing moved, so I stupedly disconnected the phone, and stopped the command prompt, and now my Legend only shows the HTC symbol and on every corner, there's a warning symbol or something... Have I fried my phone completly? PLEASE HELP! p.s. This is where it got stuck... Legend Root Step 1 Erasing cache and rebooting in RUU mode... erasing 'cache'... OKAY ... Guest magnum375 Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 My HTC Legend is open SIM and therefor I assume I don't need a goldcard, should I skip 'step1-windows.bat' and go directly to 'step2-windows.bat'?
