dear all,

would like to gather some interest of what kind of casing do you use?

i was searching online and i saw these two.

would like to hear you opinion too.

http://www.ADVERTISING SPAM.com/catalog/product_info....oducts_id=23123

this have a transparent plastic protection.

http://www.ADVERTISING SPAM.com/catalog/product_info....oducts_id=22574

this does not have the protection.

what is your choice and why...

i am "torn" between these two.

with protection, make the usage of the touchscreen very troublesome.

without the protection, make the touch screen open to "press" scratches etc.

thus i would like to hear you opinion and what are u using?

thanks!

I have no problems with touchscreen protector. This is the first thing you should put on your phone when you get it! Mine is a mirror protector, so I can see if I have any bugers in my nose before I enter a meeting and no one can see my phone screen. The only drawback is the daylight is horrible but I rarely do heavy work in the sun, unless I'm taking pictures. Here's a thread that was already discussed about cases:

Hi mate

I'll use the "Open" case as I like to use my screen protector and changing it whenever I like...

I use now a plastic like the closed but w/o the screen.

I couldn't see the second page if was giving more details for the quality of the screen protection...

I'm using phantomskinz. I've dropped my phone a couple of times on concrete, and the phone suffered no scuffs. Obviously there's not much g-shock protection, but it still works fine. I really like the look of the phone and being able to slip it in my pocket easily. A bullky case would get on my nerves I think.

As thebass said, this has been previously discussed, and not only in that thread. A search for screen protector should give you some results.

And there are 2 different things:

Screen protector is applied to the screen, and is usually a transparent film.

Casing is referred to something that goes all over the phone/encapsulates the phone but usually leaves the touchscreen unprotected (for obviously touch experience). Case is also referred to as in storage (eg a pouch).

I for one use a screen protector and a silicone gel case. It's light and feels nice in the hand. I also think it protects better if dropped, as the shock is partly absorbed. Unfortunately, even so I still have the issue with dust (but a lot less).

I didn't go for the metal case because it's usually bulky and feels cold.

But I definitely recommend a screen protector with any casing.

Casings are also rubber, plastic, and evidently metal.

The silicone case you can find on the ebay easily, eg by searching is "Silicone Gel Cover Skin for Samsung Omnia 2 II I8000". In case someone's interested :P

i have used those cases and the biggest issue is the plastic case comes right up ot the edge of the screen and makes it very hard to press the edges of the screen (including the x).

I modified one with a dremel but the other issue is if it ever crashes you have to rip the case apart to reset it.

Yeah, attempting hitting the 'p' would drive me nuts with a case that came up to the edge like that.

Re-reading, it seems you are asking about both a case, and a screen protector. I think everyone knows to at least have a screen protector on a resistive screen. They scratch/tear too easily to not have one. The phantomskinz slides very, very well. I have practically zero friction with my finger, and using a finger nail is stupid-smooth. So there shouldn't be any concern with a screen protector making the phone less useable. Even if it was a minor hinderance, you should still get one regardless.

As far as cases. The best thing is to try some if a local store will let you. There's no substitute for actually seeing what the device will be like once it's covered up. Other than that, try to read reviews. Think about how you use the phone, where you tend to store it, etc. Protection is really a pretty personal preference, and will vary a good deal from one person to the next, especially over a small sample.

I agree. A picture speaks a thousand words, so here's 6 photos :P

This is how my phone looks like on a silicone gel case:

Anyone else if willing to share photos of their cases is more than welcome.

I Don't have actual pictures at hand, but am happily using a Noreve casing for my Omnia:

ah.... thanks you Ender Psp and Jaguar645 for the pictures.

haha pic speaks a thousand word!

thanks you all for the feedback too!

i like the ADVERTISING SPAM aluminum case but as some suggest it may be abit of problem to press on the edge...

maybe the silicon case is a good alternative too.

getting "sick" of some of the leather case that have a plastics enclosure that crack.
