I've trying to following all the steps and make these work. The first step always says to me UPDATE FAILED. My phone is an U8220-6. It puts a log file in the dload folder. It's attached. Anyone else with these issue?

Can I use that file to flash it from the recovery menu?

Can anyone make a 2.1 Flash ROM that includes all the changes??

Thanks in advance.

Let me just add that I have installed Bobo's 2.1 ROM right now. Do I have to go back to 1.5 to make these work or can I apply the Update.app directly from BoBo's ROM??

in modaco some guy say he updated a Chile ROM then he update the 2.1 , the vibration works well~!

then some Chinese guys update the 2.1,also vibration works well.

so we asked him how it worked then we know ..

He wasn't trusted as he was a brand new member with one post, not because he was Chinese. But people made a mistake and people apologised.

If that's the same rom we are using, it's from Sweden.

Just another one to say vibration is indeed working on mine (though I just did a nand backup, updata.app, fastboot recovery, nand restore).

Got my Pulse today so I followed the guide and used the Huawei update first to 1.5. Vanilla is so much nicer than the T-Mobile crap. Everything worked. Then I followed the guide to install the custom recovery and super-boot, rebooted back into 1.5 just to see if it still works... and the touchscreen didn't work!

Rebooted back into recovery, installed 2.1 and touchscreen works.

Why did it stop working after custom recovery and super-boot?

Update: It's Super-Boot that stops the touchpad working in 1.5

Superboot does not work with Huawei update.

If you want a rooted 1.5, then install only amon-ra recovery (and NOT superboot), then install one of the MCR ROMs, they are rooted.

BTW if you want to use it as a modem, this is necessary, since chinese version seems not to support this.

Thanks. I worked out in the end it was Superboot, but thanks for your post.

But handy to know otherwise - I was slightly worried when it stopped working on mine just before I left for work - at least I know I can go back to 1.5 should 2.1 not work any more reliably

I'm 120% sure the only thing that needed to be changed was the kernel.

If someone with 2.1 and working vibrate could post their /proc/config.gz I can confirm this and we can come up with a simpler set of steps.

Are you using 2.1 with JIT or without JIT?

I have an april update, it's newer than this one, and r7 of vanilla 2.1 works alright. Just FC's and slowdowns as usual.

Marcus, (or anyone) can you confirm if this ROM has got Chinese traditional character handwriting input system?

Did you fix it... I had the same problem..

You have to use another rooted boot.img file instead of Pauls superboot (one specifically for the new rom)

I found one somewhere on here called superboot_boot.img_rizzly which worked fine...

The weird thing is the 2.1 update itself didn't screw up the touchscreen and that contains a boot.img (i guess this isn't something to complain about though)..

i dunno  where can i check this?

i have flashed with the starkos rom at the end of the sequence needed for vibrations to work and i didnt mess with the build.prop.

anyway it seems rock solid sofar, 7 hours from the reboot, vibrations seem normal, i made dosen of calls, checked wifi, download from the market, neocore says 26.7fps (w/o audio), linpack is norm res 3.36 with time of 2.64s, everything seems to be working fine, hope it stays that way, weeell lets say untill FroYo :D

cheers

The starkos rom doesn't have JIT enabled, I'm using it and can confirm that it's rock solid. There is maybe one reboot a day but I can live with that:D The speed is great but the linpack score you posted is not what you look for, see the MFLOPS result and you'll see it's around 2 (1.8 - 2.3 approx). If you use JIT it will be around 3.3 or so, but the rom would be unstable. Plus I can't imagine using anything else other than the ADW launcher and that is not compatible with JIT (there is a workaround but I'm happy as it is). And the theory about low battery more reboots seems to come up more and more often, though it just may be a coincidence. Cheers.

em...... i read all threads.

about huawei logo or t-mobile logo, i think why you cant get t-mobile logo is because t-mobile doesnt pay huawei for the update files but China Unicomm does, so only update for U8220 in chinese market and the devices to south america.

if you want to flash back to t-mobile logo, you can try the december update.

no one can confirm whether it works or not.

post your result for those who want that pink logo back.
