Guest gusthy Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) The starkos rom doesn't have JIT enabled, I'm using it and can confirm that it's rock solid. There is maybe one reboot a day but I can live with that:D The speed is great but the linpack score you posted is not what you look for, see the MFLOPS result and you'll see it's around 2 (1.8 - 2.3 approx). If you use JIT it will be around 3.3 or so, but the rom would be unstable. Plus I can't imagine using anything else other than the ADW launcher and that is not compatible with JIT (there is a workaround but I'm happy as it is). And the theory about low battery more reboots seems to come up more and more often, though it just may be a coincidence. Cheers. it is not just JiT. starkos rom does not produce fc at boot with keyboard, no fc when adding new account etc. only issue is marked download performance but it is easy to fix from g1 rom. Guest gusthy Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 em...... i read all threads. about huawei logo or t-mobile logo, i think why you cant get t-mobile logo is because t-mobile doesnt pay huawei for the update files but China Unicomm does, so only update for U8220 in chinese market and the devices to south america. if you want to flash back to t-mobile logo, you can try the december update. no one can confirm whether it works or not. post your result for those who want that pink logo back. no, it doesnt work, confirmed. maybe you are right w tmob/china telecom, but we are not tmobile, so do not blame us for that. btw china telecom upgrade removed tethering feature.
Guest Andy Stormont Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Maybe if you could check why my bluetooth isnt working as well  Your config file is the same as mine :\ Is this definitely from a device with working vibration?
Guest flip360 Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 i am well into 18 hours of uptime with no reboots or fc`s  cheers
Guest speedme Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 I have installed the Starkos ROM now too and indeed it is very solid/stable. But I still don't have fibration working. Do I need to flash the UPDATA in order to get it working ? Or is there a "fix" which I can apply to my current ROM to get fibration working ? I'm not really a noob, but because of the many topics with a lot of information I got a little lost...

Guest kohaku Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 I've inspired by this thread and apply the latest update by huawei (2010-05-24 ) and sucessfully updated to 2.1 with vibration. phone: Hong Kong's PCCW U Android (U8220) update used: U8220 V100R001C104B275(HongKon g PCCW) Host Software 2010-05-24 2.1 ROM used: 2.1 Vanilla based on r6 posted by Sh4d0w940 Huawei has released a lot of update on 5/24, I think most of the non-Tmobile pulse owner would get a 1.5 update and there is a high probabily that could enable vibration with the 2.1 rom floating around
Guest gusthy Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 kohaku: did you realize any difference between older rom and this one except for vibration?
Guest kohaku Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 (edited) kohaku: did you realize any difference between older rom and this one except for vibration? well... I haven't did much test on it as it is still 1.5 and the upgrade to 2.1 is quite smooth. I would suggest you to try to locate the update for your phone model. I found huawei has an update for my PCCW Uandroid, so I did not use U8220V100R001C125B249SP01 (another chinese carrier's u82X0) original U Android rom: firmware 1.5 baseband version 6383 kernel version 2.6.27-perf huawei@product #1 fastboot V0.5 machine ID 1007000 v0 Build date Feb 2 2010 U8220 V100R001C104B275(HongKong PCCW) Host Software 2010-05-24 : firmware 1.5 baseband version 6383 kernel version 2.6.27-perf huawei@l-cluster02 #1 fastboot V0.5 machine ID 1007000 v0 Build date Apr 7 2010 19:07:16 Edited May 27, 2010 by kohaku

The question is that with 2.1 what about issues like vibration, reboot, touch screen etc. Edit: Yiiiip, another boot screen, it is an android one :( Edit 2: AAAAAAAAAAND this rom supports USB tether  Edit 3: AAAAAAAAAAND better touch screen! Edit 4: AAAAAAAAAAND vanilla dialer :D Edit 5: AAAAAAAAAAND newer RoadSync :( Therefore this one is a very good fallback if 2.1 fails. And - that is strange, but goooood - USB tether also works with 2.1. this one didnt work with dec update. Edited May 27, 2010 by gusthy
Guest Josh04 Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 I'm 120% sure the only thing that needed to be changed was the kernel. If someone with 2.1 and working vibrate could post their /proc/config.gz I can confirm this and we can come up with a simpler set of steps. How can this be? The kernel is in boot.img, and if you're still using the 2.1 boot.img you're still using the same kernel.

Sure. it is not the kernel, it is the firmware. the battery (vibration) fw in dec upd is simply incompatible w 2.1 kernel. china and korea firmwares ar newer, they are compatible.
Guest rimmer74 Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Okay, here is an interesting update. So, yesterday installed the chinese update, followed by Starkos rom and used ADW launcher. No FC's at all for over 24 hours. Switched to LauncherPro (which I had used before yesterday) for a while this evening (just to see which I preferred again really) and within 1 hour I had had two FC's both about Voice Search. Have switched back to ADW for over 1 hour again now and since then, no more FC's!!! How wierd is that? Definitely got my Pulse as stable as it has ever been on 2.1 now using the above (at least until Hungary T-Mobile sorts out their uploading of official firmware!!)
