I deleted that attachment on my original post on the old thread as it messed up market app installs and the only fix was to reflash the whole rom! If people have used the above I would check if market apps install and if u haven't wait for confirmation on whether I'm right or wrong

Kind of confused but I installed that framework ^[two posts up] and that worked. I could read notifications and the clock too.

BUT I'm having problems: the data connection won't stay selected after I choose it. Related? I restored stuff with titanium backup with THAT framework installed and it seems fine because I had to download titanium in the first place.

SO, i am pretty confused because I had no problems downloading titanium backup from the market after installing 2.1 plus that ^ framework but now I cannot connect to the internet because the darn data service or enable always-on mobile data options wont stay TICKED!

Soooo any ideas guys?

Weird. I had no problems whatsoever with the framework but the creator, starkos says that he did:S I still think that it's unrelated, maybe a widget bug, maybe a reboot will fix it?

Okay it's fine now. Took about 5 reboots before it worked again. Another complaint I have is that the android home process sometimes FC's and also this Voice Search process will sometimes FC on startup.

Sorry if it has been mentioned before. Any ideas? P.s I wiped before flashing...can I reset settings or something?

oh great just now I've had a reboot... Is there ANY explanation to why some people aren't getting FC's and reboots and some are?

I have a strange problem, been trying this myself however after applying this update, i am able to successfully install the custom recovery (using the WITH December update) however why i try to install superboot (using the with DECEMBER update) it seems to kill the touchscreen...

Anyone else having this problem?

The only way i seem to be able to fix it is reapply the chinese rom update...

I don't think root is required for this so going to try without but even still its annoying..

No...there is no explanation for that...at some phones the ROM's are working stable and at some there is some reboots or FC

I had some reboots now too :D

But still got no FCs at all

[*]Installing an updata.app - reprograms the whole phone, not just the Android part. There isn't any way to undo it. It's a proprietary update system developed
Is anyone working on finding out how this works? Or should I look into it?

I want to get my hands dirty

Find the split_updata.pl script, see how that works, go from there.

I thinks it's safe for me to say now that it's reboots that is the problem. I don't understand why there are varied results between u8220 users: some with no FC's and reboots but some with. Boo Hoo :(

I just really want Froyo now (rofl) :( [Ah damn it another reboot LOL] My Pulse is on the table and I'm just hearing the occasional buzz of a reboot. Tempted to nanrdoid back to MCR 1.7 if that's poss.

If you look into it, please try to solve the checksum part.

However, if you don't have alot of patience and so i would choose something more easy to start with.

As I wrote already. "Boot.img" includes the Kernel-file and the ramdisk. The Kernel ("boot.img-kernel") includes a folder called "firmware". With flashing the update you are flashing of cause the Kernel too. And with flashing the Kernel you are changing the firmware. The problem: You can't open the "boot.img-kernel" and thats why you can't access the "firmware"-folder.

That't the hole story.

If you find a way to open the "boot.img-kernel" I'll take off my hat to you :D

OK, updated my T-Mobile UK Pulse to this tonight.

Vibration is working - whoohoo!

Still getting reboots, just had one when the party I called hung up.

May try switching off 3G to see if it helps.

I'm getting FC's three or four now and all linked to Voice Search... (any way to uninstall it?)

Had no reboots yet.

Weird that it is different experience for all really but I guess that just because the ROM is not quite stable...It is from a BETA after all...

yes just go to applications and uninstall voice search...

really weird though

How can I check is apps2sd is working?

Ah it's OK, worked it out. Checked current free phone space, installed a large app, and I lost less than the app size. Seems ok.

Managed to sort this, i wasn't able to use paul's superboot, in lieu of this i had to use another rooted boot.img specifically for the chinese rom..

Didn't anyone else have the same problem?

2.1 is now installed and working reasonably well... its a little slow and i am getting a few FC's and had a couple of crashes at the beginning.

I really really think this is battery issue I've never had a reboot when using phone whilst plugged in anyone else noticed that?

Yes. I was stable on power but unstable on battery. Power Management issue?

Me 3 on that. Seems to be unstable with between different processes and power management. I could be wrong of course, I have barely any technical knowledge of how rom's work. This is quite frustrating for me because I cannot go back to MCR 1.7 because the touchscreen doesn't work. I tried it via restoring nandroid which x didn't work so then with a fresh new MCR with same results. I'd prefer to go back because this isn't stable enough. So if someone could help me in the mean time overcome the touchscreen problem, I'd be happy enough...no thanks to Huawei's annoyingness xD

You can go back to MCR. You just need to enter bootloader mode then flash superboot modified for U8230 (I think).

Anyway I downloaded the image that was linked in another thread and packaged it up with the superboot files. Just extract and run the batch file. Reboot and touch screen will work.

Are people still using autokiller and if so which settings are you using please? If not, which task manager works best for people?

And would this help with these possible power management issues, mine has only restarted during looking at Market whilst on battery power...

This isn't accurate at all, you seem to have gotten the kernel mixed up with updata.app. boot.img-kernel is just executable code, there's no 'folders' in it. The firmware is only flashed when an updata.app is used.
