Looks like somebody might have found the cause, and Paul replying.

Paul doesn't seem ENTIRELY convinced that this is the primary cause, although it IS good news that he is still working on it!

It seems to me that until we find out what is actually HAPPENING in the USB-Bricks then it's almost impossible to come up with a "safe" rooting method.....

pulled out the desire from the charger around 10AM, 1.30PM now, already lost 30%

It's really pissing me off

I even took my old Hero back. It's also pissing me off that the Hero is SOOOOO slow, but at least I can use the phone for at least 1 day with wifi and/or 3G on

Since a fix was found, I'll proceed to delete the entire database. Thank you for your support.
