Guest zerosignull Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 It is all over the NET that installing JiT in 2.1 cause some applications not running as they should and produce instability...... I'm just saying what I read....don't kill the masanger :( Completely agree with you. Needs to come with "mileage may vary" clause :(
Guest mnonmo Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 (edited) Easy JIT for MCR Attached. its an update.zip style file that you install via recovery. Install it like you would install a ROM update but do NOT wipe your phone. Just clear the dalvik cache. Also nandroid before you do this. As I do not run MCR I cannot guarantee this will work (though it works fine for my ROM) I flash this, found no reboot and FC. Just clear the dalvik cache is OK. Thank you! Guest Epic-Emodude Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 I did that but im not noticing any speed ups of any kind, guess ill wait a couple of days to see for sure 1.Download this http://sholes.id.au/download.php?id=4 2.goto the system folder and edit the build.prop, add dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit to the end and save it 3. copy the bin folder in the system folder 4. copy libdvm.so and libnativehelper.so to lib and create and sign the rom Hi Just to check: For step 2 I literally copy and paste that into the bottom of the build prop For step 3 i take the file from the bin folder and use it to replace the one already in the ROM? For step 4 they also take the place of 2 existing files?

Guest goce.nakov Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 JiT on MDC r7 with ADW and Beautiful Widgets = baaaadddd thingy :( I think my OLD Chinese iPhone bad copy was more quicker then that :(
Guest gusthy Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 JiT on MDC r7 with ADW and Beautiful Widgets = baaaadddd thingy :( I think my OLD Chinese iPhone bad copy was more quicker then that :( Yes, usually the problem is with custom home screens and large widgets. You may try to uninstall them, clear dalvik cache then reinstall.

I'm just saying what I read....don't kill the masanger B) Look what taranfx has to say about this: I remember the time when Android 2.1 was getting ready for release, JIT was all in there ready for the showtime. But for some unknown reasons, it was disabled, just a switch away from 2x – 4x times performance boost. But question is why wasn’t it unveiled at that moment. I could be wrong, though was in good-enough shape, it seemed like more of a marketing strategy. Oh, wow, completely wrong thread  Although, the context is right B) Edited September 29, 2010 by ambrozija

You may try to uninstall them, clear dalvik cache then reinstall. I'm on FLB 1.6a and have just enabled JIT, made a backup of build.prop, added the dalvik line, reboot into clockwork, made a nandroid backup just in case, flashed the jit zip file in here, cleared dalvik cache and rebooted. Everything is fine ADW, Fancy Widget, Battery Widget, all apps I've tried so far are fine and no reboots yet. Also using swapper2, 32mb swap, swappiness 15. Next a little overclocking, currently I get 3.6 on linpack  Edited September 30, 2010 by the1c3man
Guest wheresmyhead Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Running FLB 1.6b with the swap+overclock kernel @ 691Mhz / 32Mb swap on ext partition. Enabled JIT with 'a2sd jit' rather than using the build.prop method. Linpack score 4.6, up from 2.9 before enabling JIT. Phone feels much more responsive and seems stable so far

How can I detect if JIT is working? Anyway, phone is still much more responsive than ever before

Guest MaToNeo Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Have you installed mcr_jit.zip? (post#24) No I have not. I activated (hopefully )built-in JIT in Darktremor A2SD 2.7.5.1
Guest MaToNeo Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 FLB1.7oc, mcr_jit, 64MB swap with swappiness=20 I envy
Guest Daz555 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Running 1.6b, 64MB swap, a2sd, and now running a2sd jit as well - getting 4.6 on Linpack and all stable so far.

Guest HyDeNoW Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Running flbmod_v1.7oc with 128mb swap,a2sd and a2sd jit enabled and i'm getting 4.599 on Linpack  . Although it took and bit for the jit to start having an effect, the first Linpack score after installing jit and rebooting was 2.5, an hour later i was getting scores of over 4. I don't know if it makes a difference but I am using an 8Gb class 6 memory card.
Guest komloz Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Apparently JIT is not working in my Pulse but I have no idea why. My Linpack score is 2.859 :) Just like in my case. I had FLB-Mod v1.7oc. but jit didn't worked with a2sd jit. Then I installed mcr_jit.zip, and voila! my LINPACK score was 4.6 MFLOPS. (As a bonus, I lost root :( ) After all, I went with a fresh official 2.1 UK install -> CW recovery -> FLB-Mod v1.7oc. The score was still ~2.9 MFLOPS... Then I compared the 3 files in mcr_jit.zip with the ones on the phone & saw that /system/bin/dalvikvm are exactly the same, but /system/lib/libdvm.so & /system/lib/libnativehelper.so doesn't match! As a test I copied the 2 non-matching files from mcr_jit.zip to the phone, & after a reboot I got: 4.808 MFLOPS (@691 MHz) ;)
