Menu -> settings -> applications -> manage applications => causes FC.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Nope, all good here.

I am going to make a theme for this ROM (official 2.1), not sure if i will make available as i havent got the time to monitor a thread anymore. Also, i wanna steal some stuff from other devs, and i dont think they will want me 'sharing' their work so openly.

All in all an excellent WIP release.

Couple of gripes:

Memory/system optimisation is no where near as good as MCR3.2.

Totally standard GUI - Not Pauls fault, i just hate standard looking stuff!

Recommend LauncherPro Beta (free in market), its awesome...new 3D app browser is coolio too. Rosie needs a makeover (which i am working on, thanks to stickman :) - he doesnt know it!)

MCR 4.0 will be very nice indeed. Hope we get an optimised kernel too, then this ROM will fly!

Thanks Paul

This happened to me the first time I flashed a 2.1 ROM. Some areas of the screen were completely unresponsive, and other times the screen just went haywire without even touching it! I nandroided back to a MCR 3.2 and found it was a little better but now and then the screen would just be unusable.

Read through a few forums and the general consensus was that I had developed a hardware fault! However, it seems to have settled down now and I don't have any issues anymore. Not really sure what the fix was :/

I have a similar problem with mine, and I have used several different ROMs (all 2.1) so I assume it is a hardware problem. It's annoying because the area that is unresponsive is near the bottom of the screen where you often get an "OK" box, and I can't press it!

I have flashed this ROM into my Hero for 2 days already and the only problem it have given me so far is some FC while viewing large images on the built-in "Photos" app.

Generally, Im very delighted with this ROM, eventhough its not even reached BETA stage yet. THanks!

Im using an Asia Released HTC Hero.

Singapore Carrier, Starhub Mobile.

So... this is great. LauncherPro makes it even greater, yay. Has anybody managed to push Friendstream or Gallery3D onto it? Actually, since I'm more or less set on LauncherPro I suppose just the Gallery3D question really.

Is there a conclusive answer regarding whether it's ok to use Orange (UK) branded handsets and the new radio together?

I'm on Orange UK and my phone was locked. It didn't work for me - I just got the "Network locked" error. You can always flash back to the older radio though, so best bet is to try it, as some people have reported success.

I've since unlocked my phone using an online service (though I had to temporarily flash back to an older generic HTC rom to get the code to work) and now the new radio works fine.

Thanks very much. :)

EDIT: Seems fine on my handset, not sure why it's ok for me and not you. :)

This is brilliant! Thank you very much! :)

Too bad I already became a member for 9.99... Should've gone for the 29.99 :)

In either case, I had to do a swipe to get rid of the endless loops and crashes of htc.bg and htc.launcher. Ra 1.6.2 as boot-manager.

I am very satisfied with this rom. :) Can't wait till the european version is comming out. :) I have one problem so far: Menu -> settings -> applications -> manage applications => causes FC "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Pleasy try again." Does anyone have the same problem?

Yep get excatly the same also google talk seems to be running all the time yet i have no account and cant stop it....things not looking too good and may need to revert back to 3.2 ....will probably wait till bugs ironed out and 4 is released....

There's an upgrade option which will just charge you the price difference, if you're that keen :)

Just retried flashing after updating my recovery rom to 1.6.2, wiping, flashing. Still no joy, unless i leave my SD ejected prior to boot, as i'm using App2SD this obviously isn;t going to work, so again back to 3.2 for now.

I understand that this ROM is de-ODEX'd so that themes can be applied, but isn't ODEX faster/more efficient?

My dilemna is that the original 2.1 release is ODEX'd while the newer builds are not. If I stick with the original (which works fine for me) because I prefer ODEX'd, then I will not be upgrading at all in the future when a better kernel, etc. are released.

i think theres a script to odex the files on the forum am sure i saw it the other day.

Yea. I've used it before. I guess I could always do that...

Hi, I think this 2.1 rom is the best for now, but I have one serious problem: I can't see google contacts in htc dialer.. only contacts from my sim..wtf?) Is there any solution to fix it? btw. I've done full wipe before flash it. PS: Great work!

Most likely you do not have contacts on your phone anymore, please check Phone -> Menu -> People -> Menu -> View

It should be noted that there is obviously a bug with the current dialer as SIM-entries are shown even if unchecked.

Any new infos about a release version?

Apparently T-mobile have been given the date of 18th June to release their version of 2.1 for Hero, after that date HTC will release the generic versions.

i suspect that all of you who are saying that the battery of new rom is better than before are comming from other (non official, old leaks) 2.1 roms. my experience is not so optimistic and also many others report 2.1 sucking energy really quick.

is there anything paul could do about it or we'll have to wait until HTC offers another rom?

ps - yes i know about juice defender and similar apps, but i didn't need that on 1.5.

Do you have Locale installed? Mine did that until I got rid of it.

Another "no go" here.

Using Recovery 1.6.2, wiped everything, including SD card, put zip on SD, flashed, and got reboot loop. The radio ROM flashed correctly, however. I've tried two kitchens: faa5dcde82e0e9ffcb3c6e4695898d47 and 5664ab1ca6f6e9cd9149216d46323d95. (I need the Chinese HTC IME.)

I had the same problem, and solved it by pull out my sd from phone, and re-format it on PC.

No I have this option checked in settings, and can't see them in dialer..this is definitely bug...
