Guest anderneo Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Does anyone have the problem of "HTC Checkin service" using a lot of memory and CPU?
Guest vatvedt Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I have baked the RC5 with the Online Kitchen including A2SD+... but it seems, that it doesn't work... I only have 64 MB internal memory available after Installing my Apps. If i install new Apps the internal memory is reducing very quick. Can i ever check, if the A2SD+ is working? How's your SD partitioned? I had to repartition mine, because I had an ext4 partition. Repartitioned to ext3 using Amon-RA recovery, and it works great.
Guest Hendrik van Antwerpen Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) I flashed a newer radio (63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14 iso .11) and for now everything is working again on Dutch Hi/KPN network. Let's see if it holds. @vatvedt: Download a radio update.zip and put it in your SD-card root. Boot into recovery (home+power on) and choose 'flash from zip'. Choose the radio zip there. DON'T wipe, or you will wipe your whole ROM, just flash. It will only update the radio part. Edited July 13, 2010 by Hendrik van Antwerpen

Thanks, but I've already flashed the .14 radio and it seems to be working great :) The only issue I've got with 2.1 R5 now, is that my phone reboots randomly (not every time) when I use the camera. It's kinda annoying.. :D
Guest Swerner Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) How's your SD partitioned? I had to repartition mine, because I had an ext4 partition. Repartitioned to ext3 using Amon-RA recovery, and it works great. It's always a ext3 partition... I have checked the A2SD functionality as it is described here (Check A2SD). The shell script give this output: /data/app is a symlink ... ok /data/app-private is a symlink ... ok /data/dalvik-cache is a symlink ... ok App2SD is working with dalvik cache. Seems to be it work... mmh... how big is your free internal memory? Edited July 13, 2010 by Swerner
Guest zeflar Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 i get an FC when trying to access "connect to PC" via the settings anyone else I cant seem to mount my SD from Windows XP... cheers
Guest vatvedt Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Seems to be it work... mmh... how big is your free internal memory? I have 91MB free of internal memory after installing 86 apps.
Guest toxic-hero Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 i get an FC when trying to access "connect to PC" via the settings anyone else I cant seem to mount my SD from Windows XP... this happens in 2.1 if you choose not to install htc sync in modaco kitchen. in other words: you can't connect your phone to comp without htc sync.
Guest wabe Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Upgraded ny 2.1 r5 image to one including a2sd. Upgrade worked fine per se but all apk's are still in system folder.
Guest silentior Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 hi, is there a known bug with the backlight-sensor? the backlight of my display is always 100% and doesn't reduce itself automatically.

Guest Loxley Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Hello everybody! Regarding the app2s (not app2sd+) confusion:The system partition is left alone.Only APKs are moved to SD.Application data (databases preferences, etc.) remains on internal storage.Dalvik-cache remains on internal storage. That's why free space is dropping with every install, only about 50% of everything that make's up an app is put on SD. HTH Niki

Guest Musicmannetje Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I have been running the R5 prebacked now for about a week, and the only problem I have noticed is the terrible receiption of both GSM and data signal. I used to have full range at home, but with the new version most of the time I have none. This also goes for the data package: i have full HSDPA but I hardly get any byte through. I have the 'web&walk plus' package of the dutch t-mobile and often used to watch the tv channels which t-mob services. With R5, I haven't seen anything yet, other than the message that the server could not be reached. I have installed the latest radio (63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14) but no change. I am thinking about flashing the 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 radio to see if this makes any difference. Any ideas on this matter?
Guest arunshen Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 But I have App2SD+ included in my baked ROM... I had problem getting both A2SD and A2SD+ working. What seemed to fix it was to wipe the SD, repartition using AMON-RA and convert Ext2 to Ext3. I didn't go as far as Ext4 (as I had previously with MCR 3.2. I now routinely have around 140MB free. BTW: I'm using MCR4 r5 with A2SD+
Guest alt236 Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 hi, is there a known bug with the backlight-sensor? the backlight of my display is always 100% and doesn't reduce itself automatically. Its not a bug with the actual sensor, but it seems that the auto-adjust setting gets forgotten once in a while. Go to "Settings->Sound & Display->Brightness" and check the "Automatic Brightness box there.
Guest crashd Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I seem to having loads of trouble with reception on this r5 build too, I tried the "newest" Radio on Orange UK and it SIM blocked me so reverted. I've also had a real slugishness with Music App (play/pause seems to take forever in app or via widgets/lock screen). I've even had a few FCs on jbed
Guest Nel Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Quick question are the people that are having trouble with app2sd baking there own roms or downloading the r5 additions rom from the first post? Should a2sd be in the system/bin folder? I ask because its not in the first post r5 rom, just wondering if thats why its not working for people.

I have check the folders on the phone. The /data/app and dalvik-cache directory is link to the SD Card and the most Apps are on the SD Card too. But if you bake a ROM, the optionally apps (eg. the Voice Dialer, Voice Search, QuickOffice or FaceBook) are stored in the /system/app folder. Thats shrink the memory (e.g. the size of Voice Search is 6 MB).
Guest lasitha85 Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 A Quick question... Any idea on when will the Final MCR will be released? or at least if not final with a custom kernel ??

If you enable that, it should be working
