T-Mobile Pulse -> Next Phone?

Not an Android, but a better deal for iPhone4 is Tesco - 16gb iPhone 4 for £19 with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, etc, etc over 24 months.

Yep, but that first contract is 45 quid per month, 15 quid more per month than Three, the only difference being 500 mins vs unlimited. I definitely wouldn't use over 500 mins per month.

Not too sure about that.

With Three it's £99 quid for the 16gb iphone 4 and that gets you 500 anytime, any network mins (with 2000 mins to other 3 users) with 2000 texts and 1gb of data.

I think you'd struggle to find a comparable deal on a comparable Android phone.

As I said i'm no apple fan (I have a Pulse and I've just bought a desire)

er... what about the HTC desire from 3. Its on the same website! so not really much of a struggle to find an equivalent phone on an equivalent tarrif!

Admittedly its not as good as the deal they were offering earlier in the year, but there you go.

With the Internet Texter 500 you get:

500 minutes (anytime, any network)

Unlimited texts*

Unlimited internet*

Unlimited Three-to-Three minutes (Fair Use Policy applies)

Voicemail

Picture Mails

2 months Free Spotify Premium

and the handset is free and not 'coming soon'

I made that point to counter Twe's argument that "the Apple IPhone 4 is over double the price of the other phones on contract."

For a comparable handset it's not .

Hi guys, kind of lost hope with the T-Mobile Pulse and I a due an upgrade on my contract too.

Was wondering what phones people have moved onto?

I know there is a price difference between these but what are your thoughts?

IPhone 4

HTC Desire

Google Nexus One

Samsung Galaxy S

Am hoping the Galaxy S will have a bigger following but its early days as its just come out....

HTC Desire

Google Nexus One

Samsung Galaxy S

I would chose from these 3.

My Choice Nexus 1, OTA updates always current.

I would like to see what the Devs could do with the Samsung, I like the features, hate the GUI, as yet no custom roms.

Desire very similar in specs with the Nexus 1, but with the added radio, just for me Not a Sense Lover

A friend has the iPhone 4, not customisable really, plus a few teething problems, reception and untested GUI

Great hardware and in principal the iPhone is nice, but with the experience I've had so far in person, just about OK for me, not the WOW factor I had with my nieces Desire

Personally I went for the desire over the samsung because the samsung doesn't have a flash.

Well if you work it out it equals to £189 for the 32GB one which is the one I would get + £30 a month and locked into contract for 24 months = £909 that means you are paying almost £38 a month

HTC Desire is currently on offer for free monthly cost of £25 a month [600 minutes talk time so 100 minutes more] on an 18 month contract, however as an existing customer I might be able to get it for £20 a month with free phone, so almost half the cost of the IPhone and a lower contract term.....

You forgot to add the cost of a 32gb micro sdhc for your Desire.

And if you're comparing like-for-like, you have to come at both scenarios as a new customer.

I have a 8GB card with my t-mobile pulse so that will do till its full up.

Can't really be like for like as the contract lengths are different.

Unfortunately Vodafone are more expensive than Three and Tesco Mobile, as an existing customer they will only give me the same offer as new customers - so can't get away with that one unless I choose another phone.

I'd hate to buy a phone with 32GB built-in. What if it corrupts itself? It's not like you can pull it out and put it in a card reader, or just replace it. You have to send the entire phone back (and either brick it or attempt to put the official non-Jailbroken OS back on).

Thats why I'm considering buying a bigger, faster MicroSD for my Pulse and then moving the entire data and cache directories over to it (I'll leave system as thats mounted RO anyway)

Never had any corrupt memory cards before so I wouldn't worry about that myself if it doesn't mess up under warranty.

Can't see any good Galaxy S, Nexus One or Desire offers at the moment? Any one else?

Looks like Huawei have been extra busy, preparing to release a FroYo phone in August.

What about HTC Legend? Seems to be a reasonable choice...

(Had it in my hands and its speed was pretty close to Desire's but felt much better to actually 'use' it...)

My next phone will be something much stronger, with more memory

Like the Desire or X10

I know that those are more expensive but these "cheap" phones are very slow sometimes, specially with factory fw

X10 = Bloat-ware

Luckily progress is being made and hopefully soon we will start seeing custom roms that removes most of it

But as it stands with the stock firmware you wouldn't have thought that it has a 1ghz snapdragon powerhouse

Just feel like getting something that is 1GHz or above to make it a bit more future proof.

I think the pulse would be good value on pay as you go but I am paying £20 a month on a 24 month contract, I think I will get a new handset before then though. Just annoying because at the time I only had Pulse or Hero to choose from and Hero was alot more expensive. Wish I had waited 3 months and I would have got a desire

Actually my girlfriend uses one and she likes it very

although it is only 1,6

Of course it is way faster than the pulse

Just check Hero - still an awesome phone even with a slower processor. I wouldn't think that processor speed is more important than (enough) memory

(Too bad I hate the design of it :D)

The Hero has a bigger chin on it than Jimmy Hill!

(I needed to google who he was but you definitely have a point here )

Lol yeah

And think future proof here.. The hero is an OLD phone now, most people have already had them on contract and upgrade since.

You would be in the same boat as the pulses after a year or so.. (Even through after a year the pulses may have sunk to the bottom of Davy Jones' locker)

I'd go for a Samsung Galaxy-S/T-Mobile Vibrant, from the specs, and what I've read so far it seems to be an awesome gadget. Too bad that it probably won't be available in my country for a loooong time :S

ok guys, cancelled my IPhone order yesterday as I got a better deal with Vodafone on the HTC Desire. Will cost approx. £430 less than getting an IPhone for the same 18 month period and well the phone will be well supported and I know my way round Android OS.... Although probably get the phone next week as it's out of stock with Vodafone directly.
