Guest HMZX Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Hi folks, I just wanted to ask those of you that received their phones most recently are they with AMOLED or TFT screens? I intend to buy SF and the main reason is the AMOLED screen I am not so sure if it's gonna be with TFT screen... the newest ones are tft. if you live in a remote area, there might be still some amoleds in stock. ask the salesman to let you have a look at the phone and check it out

If the salesman agree to let me have a closer look. 10x in advance!
Guest gambieter Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Can you tell me how to distinguish them? If the salesman agree to let me have a closer look. Is already often discussed on the forum, use the search. Tip: dark screen and look in the dark, and look at the ROM-number. B05 = OLED, B08 is usually TFT. While TFT is not as good as OLED, it is still the best value for money phone.
Guest Alex Dimitri Song Billong Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 You need to call Orange CS 0800 0792000 and if you have a PAYG SIM they will give you the discount. Keep trying if the 1st sales rep doesn't give you the discount. I was lucky to get this price on 1st attempt. HTH Thanks so much for the information. I had an untouched orange sim lying around since I bought my girlfriend an unlocked Samsung, last September. I was turned down at first but they gave me the discount on the third attempt. I'm having mine delivered tomorrow for £79. Sweet! :D

HTH I called Orange CS (450 from my mobile) last night and the person I spoke to had no details of this discount on his system, sales didn't seem to know about it either, has this discount now closed or are they just playing dumb?
Guest nre Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) I called Orange CS (450 from my mobile) last night and the person I spoke to had no details of this discount on his system, sales didn't seem to know about it either, has this discount now closed or are they just playing dumb? I phoned the 0800 number at 5pm yesterday to try and order one for my Dad, mentioned the discount & quoted my Mum's orange number (she has a PAYG SIM, has topped up about £10 in the last 2 years...!) and after they phoned Mum to confirm she was happy for me to 'purchase on her behalf' they gave me the £30 discount with no questions asked. Being delivered tomorrow for me to unlock & flash :D Not quite as good a deal as my OLED from e2save, but still fine value! Edited January 13, 2011 by nre
Guest Palder Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 I got the £30 discount yesterday so paid £79 for a white one with £10 credit. I called Orange direct and simply quoted my Mum's Orange PAYG number and stated it was a new handset for her (even though it is to be delivered to me) I was the first call and had no fuss or problems whatsoever. :D
Guest Kurdt Kobain Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 When I bought mine at the weekend they said the £30 discount would be on until the end of the month.

Guest ty_hot Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 How much does an unbranded unlocked San Francisco cost in UK? I'm seeing you all buying t for 80 pounds or so (with contract, i know), and the guys in eBay sell it for 150! ;) I would easily pay 100 or so, not 150.

There are no unbranded unlocked OSF's in the UK, only the branded Orange ones on either a monthly contract, or as pay as you go (prepay). It costs £99 with £10 or £20 topup added. So without reduced price, it starts usually at £109 + delivery if taken. So £100 is lower than the actual cost. If you add time, postage, insurance etc it goes towards the £130-£140, without much profit. The phone is cheap, but you want to go below costprice. Then you won't get one, because your expectations are unrealistic.
Guest gambieter Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Had the faulty TFT/LCD handset that I received yesterday replaced, and it is a B05 ROM with OLED screen. Must be a refurbished phone, but tested it and it seems to work fine. So there are OLEDs around ;)

Guest gambieter Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 OLD ones, yes. As long as it works...
Guest Mellerle Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Which payment options are available when buying on the hotline? My girlfriend bought one sf last year for me and brought it to me (Germany) on her vacation. She makes an internship, thus she only has a german credit card and an englisch bank card, but no englisch credit card.

What may happen is that they block the order, until she has sent a fax of a bank statement with her address etc on it.

(dont have to put balance every month or things like that)?

Guest bosh2009 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Does anyone know if the Ready Deals promotion is still going? Been into a couple of shops and got blank looks when I have asked and just wondering if it's poor inbranch information and I have spoken to the wrong individuals or if the promotion has finished? Cheers.
