could I download this straight to the phone rename and reboot?

Too impaitent to wait till I get back home to a proper PC:)

That would be a no, unknown file type:(

oh wells:)

but from the replies I missed, it looks like I should be able to?

is there an browser setting (or different browser)? just using the stock one in r2 at the mo.

Yo Paul, the Android logo is a few pixels out from the first one, have you notice, it jumps to the eight a little bit? It's obviously very minor, but it would be nice if it was move over to align properly.

Sorry for my anal observation!

Just noticed an artifact of the graphics change, on the camera in photo mode the screen has black lines down it all along the picture, this doesn't appear on video mode. The lines don't appear on the photo so it's no big deal.

Also, paul any chance you can replace the camera noises with a slightly quieter sound on your rom?

either (untested)

rm /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg

rm /system/media/audio/ui/VideoRecord.ogg

or (tested)

cp /system/media/audio/ui/Effect_Tick.ogg /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg

cp /system/media/audio/ui/Effect_Tick.ogg /system/media/audio/ui/VideoRecord.ogg

I jump out of my skin every time I use it with the defaults!

Install 'ByteTornado Downloader' from the Android Market then you'll be able to download. :)

im struggling with this, i did r2 fine, do i just place the rar file r3 on my sd card and reboot my phone and it updates?

An observation.

I have Watchdog Lite installed. When I boot up with R3 (both) it now flags several apps as going over 60% CPU usage, then it tails off to normal again after 10 seconds. Didn't do this till now. Must be something to do with hardware acceleration.

swiftkey, gallery and rock player are the ones that did this one bootup this time.

I must say though, the Android system process seems to be much reduced now :)

I rebooted with the volume up key pressed and then it worked...

I'm not seeing that here.

Strange, it's there all the time on mine, even did a restore to defaults on the camera. Wonder if there are batches with slightly different hw?

What's your SN? mine is 322402370232

Thanks, updated to r3 superboot and r3 rom.

I may try launcherpro again now as using standard andrid launcher as launcherpro kept freezing the screen for 30 seconds.

I had the same problem. Solved in the end by doing the 'volume up' switch-on, connecting to PC and running 'fastboot-windows reboot' at the command prompt (like when installing/updating superboot). That finally kick-started the update process for me.

Very dumb question but did you rename the new ROM file to mcri-system.tar.gz before rebooting ?

Same here, working fine. Thanks a lot Paul great work.

Just to add I copied r3 (renamed mcri-system.tar.gz) to my sd card after removing the r2 file and re-booted, rom installed itself in less than two minutes. You'll know if its been successful when you see that cool Mocado boot logo.
