You have to turn it off, take out the battery, put the battery back in, hold down the +(volume up button) and turn it back on. Carry on holding down the volume up button for awhile then let go. Then plug the phone into the computer. You should close CMD for now until you have the drivers installed for the phone. Edited October 4, 2010 by thomas01155
Guest sid4 Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 I put its a brilliant device for £100 just because Im a Meamo fanboi and wouldnt consider spending a lot of money on an Android :) Actually now that I think about it more, It's a brilliant device regardless of the OS or price. I mean OLED high res display, GPS, compass, wifi, 3.5mm jack, expandable memory, compact and stylish, unbelievable! How can they fit so much hardware features at this price is beyond me. I understand Orange 'might' have sunbisidesed the price but surely not by much.
Guest feckineejit Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 (edited) No don't extract it, just rename the .tar.gz file Ok made it throught the first part and got superuser on the phone, now i've took out my micro sd and put it in a card reader to move the mcri-system.tar.gz file across to, so do i extract the files from the rar file to a folder, or do i put it in the micro sd as a rar file? hope you all understand Edited October 4, 2010 by feckineejit

Guest ezablade Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Hmmm.. If Orange see those votes, they'll not be happy... currently over 96% have already, or, plan to unlock the phone... still, provide crappy 100mb per month data limits and people will leave. Oh, and decent customer service wouldn't be a bad idea either, still waiting for a response from my query I sent to them a week before buying the phone... then I found this site and now I couldn't care less what they say... bought it, rooted it, unlocked it. Thanks to everyone who has provided the help for all us noobs to the Android world, t's amazing how helpful you all are and how easy Paul's instructions and videos have made the process.
Guest flatnote31 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) who's that $%$^$^$£ who voted "it plain sux" ;) ? show ur face p*nk :) Need to get a firewall for iPhudgers? don't wanna spread the plague in here! and let's be honest, those who check modaco are at least interested in the subject and ready to experiment with their handset....hence almost all the "unlocked, rooted and moded" answers :( with an enhanced battery life, this thing would be super duper Edited October 5, 2010 by flatnote31

Chances are they are Pulse / Pulse Mini / Hero users who haven't even got one
Guest flip360 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 u and that swede think u r so funny thrashin the pulse users like that. well, HA HA.
Guest clivec Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 I voted that it was a brilliant device regardless, i suppose thats true up to a point. I used to have a HTC desire, amongst other android phones i've had, but i feel the best comparison is against the desire. HTC sense aside (which i am not a fan of, spent most of my time trying to get the best vanilla android on it) Its quite similar. Yes the desire has a 1Ghz processor, er.... well, what else really? I was ultimately quite disappointed with my desire because, once you get past all the fun you can have modding the t*ts off it as an actual phone it was quite poor, it didn't do the basics very well. I.E. Speaker - so quiet and tinny it was painful to listen to, if you heard it in the first place. Also, although better than the blade i thought the camera on it was pants for a high end phone. So, the Blade has a slower processor, in time the gap will most likely get reduced due to overclocking, blade has a much better speaker in it so you can actually hear it when it rings, and when it does it sounds better quality than a desire. Everything else really is more or less the same, also as it's smaller it's a bit better in the hand for things like texting when walking. All this would be brilliant if it cost half the price, but wait, its more like a quarter the price. Actually i think you can get desires a bit cheaper now but when i bought it it was over £400. All in, it's bonkers for the Price. I love it, i do like to tinker so if i did ultimately brick it, well, ah get another one and start agn :)
Guest spartathisis Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Im still struggling to get the damn drivers working! Must say I downloaded a live fish tank wallpaer n it does look very good, almost 3d. Even without a custom rom on im pleased with it (though i did have a HTC tattoo n before that a HTC tytn ii).
Guest spartathisis Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 At last!!!!! Drivers suddenly installed after about 40 tries. Unlocked, rooted and custom rom yeah :) Paul, what plans for future roms?
Guest Stevieblueyez Posted October 7, 2010 Report Posted October 7, 2010 Guys can anyone help please? Getting quickly fed up with my ZTE as it won't play ball. I get this: ******* C:\ZTE>fastboot-windows boot boot.blade.superboot.mcri.r3.img downloading 'boot.img'... OKAY booting... OKAY C:\ZTE>fastboot-windows reboot rebooting... C:\ZTE ******* But the phone stays stuck at the black screen with the android on it. Stays like that until I remove the USB cable then it reboots, but doesn't give me the "Super User" option afterwards. Have tried the Clockwork method, but Android Market is either dreadful or I'm especially unlucky that I'm sat at "Starting Download" for ever. (according to google this is a common problem) Anyone been stuck at the green android screen after reboot? Have tried this on 2 completely seperate machines, both of which have the same result. Am I missing a trick here? Am I supposed to have that 80mb (ish) .tar.gz file on my phone somewhere?? Please help.
Guest prufrock Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) Voted it's brilliant at £100, but mine actually only cost me £70. Absolutely chuffed to bits for £70, I can tell you! I will cleanse my son's mind of the demon that possesses him - the name of which is Iphone. I'm loving Android, to be honest. I'm a previous WinMO user (still have my trusty tytn ii). My Galaxy S was my first android phone. I picked up a Galaxy Portal for free from T-Mobile, which is pretty crap compared to the Galaxy S (but was for my son anyway, so not to worry). The SF is a brilliant piece of kit for the money. No, it's not up there with the Desire and the Galaxy S, but it certainly does blow a lot of the lower end android phones completely out of the water. My son will be getting it to replace the crappy Galaxy Portal very soon, then I will play with the portal and see what I can do with it. Edited October 8, 2010 by prufrock
