Guest silviaccio1 Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Hey Guys, hoping in the porting of android on OMNIA II i'm looking forward for the WEBOS smartphone, nobody of you has considered that possibility. Please, could you tell me why?
Guest dwallersv Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 A bit off topic but if you guys go Android which device would you choose. I highly doubt I'll go with WP7 for my next purchase. Been a WM devotee going all the way back to my TREO 700, right after it was released. I've heavily hacked, customized, written apps, and on and on. The flexibility of the open platform, leading to the very active user community, and the wide spectrum of 3rd party apps kept me snickering at iPhone lunkheads for years. I abandoned WM last week for a Sprint Galaxy Epic 4G (a.k.a. the Galaxy S Pro). Should have done it months ago. Android on Linux is the future of the Smartphone market. WP7 is MS's attempt to duke it out with Apple for the iPhone-type user, and will probably fail, iPhone has such a big headstart. Yet, one is reminded of Macintosh, eventually overwhelmed by Windows. So who knows. Regardless, for the folks that frequent these forums, Android is the way to go. WM will not get any more meaningful dev from MS, app developers are switching their efforts to Android, so waiting if you don't have to is just masochistic.
Guest jktorrent Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 does Win Phone7 support multi-touch function ? if not, not sure how they going to compete with iphone ??
Guest jeffrey2000 Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) I saw the graphics of Windows Phone and got disappointed aswell, MS just lost me with this version. I'm going the Android direction aswell so ordered the Dell Streak tablet with a 2 yr contract and see how it will be. At least Android and IOS4 still look like an OS. I couldn't say this bout WP7 it just not my cup of coffee. The only plus I see is the 3D handling (opengl/directx?), game hub and above 16bit pictures resolution so from now on you can really enjoy the colorfull screens on WP (but then again it's black with just a few plain colors?!). I got tired of 6.5.x colour gradients (this should have been fixed a long time ago!) so it's gonna be android for me. I thought at least multitasking/copy paste will be a fix for somewhere next year (about januari) so that's another plus comparing to what's there now. Edited October 31, 2010 by jeffrey2000
