No new email alert?

Since installing the Samsung official 6.5.3 ROM from here things have generally been fine and I am more than happy with the fixes implemented especially the Media Player ones as it now actually works and works well. One problem I have is that since the update I get no notification of new mail. I have set up a 30 minute sync with hotmail, between 9am and 11pm and this works correctly and the number of new mails are shown in the indicators. However there is no sound or vibration at all. Now text and call alerts are fine it's just mail, I have checked the setting and tried different tones with no success.

Anyone got any ideas why this doesn't work?
