is there a way to fix the mute-bug during a call? I haven´t had it so far, but since beta 2 I´m having it all the time after about 1-2 minutes?

So, when I did a fresh install of beta2, GPRS did not work. Doing the GPRS caused Android to no longer boot. I then installed beta1 fresh, and did the update to beta2. Data worked immediately. Installing the GPRS update after that still had everything working as expected. Seems like there's some problems with the fresh beta2 install...

Install Call Light app from the market and start it as a service.

ok..so...i have just run the update to the old beta...that is..i downloaded beta: o2bupdate.zip (just unzip to My Storage)...is this beta 2 or what? what is the difference beetween beta 2 full install..and beta 2 upgrade? how do i install beta 2 with this new filesystem thing? o2b2filesys.zip (contains the filesystem as tar.gz and the kernel, must unpack and copy manually - no automatic install)

I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS - I EXPECT IT WILL WORK, AND DON'T SEE ANY POSSIBLE PROBLEM, BUT AS ALWAYS, TEST AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION

For folks who can't or don't want to do an Ubuntu install...

To do an 'easy' install to SD using the NEW BETA2 files...

1) Open a BETA1 package.

2) Put the o2beta folder, haret.exe and default.txt in the root of your 'My Storage'

3) Open the BETA2 package.

4) Put the zImage and o2b2filesys.tar.gz in the root of your 'My Storage'

5) Rename o2b2filesys.tar.gz to ext2.tar.gz (this is so the 'old' installer will be able to extract the file for you)

[EDIT: Thanks to ult_nrg for testing/feedback, here are confirmed steps for 2D/3D Library install]

6) Download a 2D/3D Library package (these are linked in the thread, I'm using a package by nOObody, recommended by Rapid81) [i will add a link when I go back through the thread]

7) Rename the o2update.tar.gz file to o2b2update.tar.gz (for new auto-update routine) and put it in the root of your 'My Storage'

8) (Where necessary) Clear (on PC), and Format your SD card in the WinMo Samsung Settings

9) Run \My Storage\o2beta\haret.exe

9a) -= haret.exe will boot a linux shell on your device and set-up the partitions on the SD card, wait for device to reboot=-

10) Run \MyStorage\haret.exe

10a) -= haret.exe will boot Android from your SD card and set-up routine will run, wait for Android to start=-

My advice once you've booted for the first time is let the device 'settle down' for maybe a minute (try to keep the screen awake (tap occassionally) just in case), then shut it down and boot again before changing settings/installing apps etc. In theory it shouldn't make a difference, but I (and some others) have found it seems to help.

Good luck!

Rob.

in this guide there is a error: the updates must be named o2bupdate!

I have installed on SD card until a final version is ready and it's hard for me to follow this topic. Maybe there are others like me. It's just an opinion.

Agreed.

The official thread is for the SD card installation.

It is fair to say posts are split 50/50 between the two medium SD card and "Internal Storage", although "internal storage is making headway, this makes it much harder to follow one or the other.

SUBSCRIBE !!

It's getting far to heavy to find appropriate posts (of course excepting the double or useless ones)!!

Let's hear the best,

Brian.

So! Installed in MyStorage and everything seems to be OK.

What I did. Formated the two FAT32 and ext3 partitions, Plug USB on windows put into DISK0: ext2.tar.gz (from o2beta1024), o2b2filesys.tar.gz (from o2b2filesys.zip), o2bupdate.tar.gz (with 2D/3D libs), new zimage(from o2b2filesys.zip), Haret and default.txt (from o2beta1024).

Unplug USB- Start ubuntu in VMwarePlayer - Plug USB - Connect to Ubuntu - Open Terminal and comands:

sudo cp /media/DISK0/ext2.tar.gz /media/disk/

cd /media/disk/

sudo tar xzvf ext2.tar.gz -C /media/disk

cd

sudo cp /media/DISK0/o2b2filesys.tar.gz /media/disk/

cd /media/disk/

sudo tar xzvf o2b2filesys.tar.gz -C /media/disk

cd

sudo cp /media/DISK0/o2bupdate.tar.gz /media/disk/

cd /media/disk/

sudo tar xzvf o2bupdate.tar.gz -C /media/disk

Unplug USB - Plug USB connect to windows DISK0 - change line for "rootdelay=2 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 init=/init" in default.txt

Unplug USB - go to phone and run Haret, in some minutes Android is on and everything work like a dream :P

I didnt test all things but untill now I have just one freeze-self-reboot because I forced making lots of things at same time, wifi is fast like beta1, time and charge seems OK, Im going to test battery drain tonigth, I felt some better stability, I'll back report more soon...

IPC Transer Start...

then restart.. no android logo appear yet.. time for TRIAL n ERROR ;p
