Guest Zeemon Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 This Android is getting better really fast, many thanks to the devs :D what I am wondering is: WiFi location is not working, i guess this is due to incompatibility with the drivers, is there a way to get this working? Also, will this eventually be a ROM? Because I think this will boost the performance, since Android will run of it's own storage device and apps can then install on my storage... Does anyone know anything about this? :P
Guest alexovy Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Do you have GPRS data enabled during those 9h30m?? I don`t realy get it how you guys get so much life out of your battery. With 3G ON I can only get 24h.
Guest furik Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I really don't see why the calibration settings would be hardcoded anywhere. Just get the ts_calibration app from the alpha, copy it to /system/app, and try. It should be working without any problem. Also, to everyone else experiencing "sleeps of death" : remember that using beta2, the only button that can wake up your phone is the power/hang up button ! I was unable to wake up my phone yesterday before I figured that up. I also deleted /system/lib/egl/libGLES_android.so after installing the 2D/3D libs, as this library wasn't there in beta1. As libGLES is included in the 2D/3D update package, I thought it was maybe causing a conflict (a window in Spotify wasn't showing, and I experienced a system freeze once). Since then, my phone didn't freeze or die while sleeping, and that very same Spotify window is drawn well :P It is strange, I did it and since then, I am experiencing sleep of death every time phone goes to sleep.

With 3G ON I can only get 24h. with beta2 my battery consumption only 7 hours.. But, I turn on 3g, auto facebook update 30 min @pro launcher, auto twitter update 1 hour @pro launcher, 1 hour auto whether auto update, 2 hours emails auto update.. my total call time is around 30 mins for that 7 hours.. browse net less than 30 min.. look around market around 20 mins.. angry birds 15mins.. i think it is pretty good result rite? am sure if i turn off all auto update n as well as 3g, it can last for one whole day...
Guest wizard83 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I still have problems with "SD card removed", also with beta2 fresh install on my storage. At android startup I see the message "SD card removed", but SD is still there! If I remove it and then reinsert it into the slot, then I can see it in android. But when I power off android, 1 second before power off, I see the message "SD card removed". How can I fix this?
Guest barryhamsy Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Beta2 SD card installer already out.no 2D/3D driver included and 1024mb only - download from Beta website http://87.229.73.80/beta2_1024.zip

Guest vivek raja7 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) hi guys could you post a guide to help me install android on my device using ubuntu or windows 1024 beta2 i have a i have a 8gb micro sd class 2 or you could also post a link Edited February 12, 2011 by vivek raja7
Guest FactionOne Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) i think its better to stop post the same thing over n over again.. some more beta2 is already uploaded to 1st page. so there is no need to use o2b2sysfile.tar.gz anymore.. I tried to keep the method description accurate but brief (I omitted commands etc.); but it was kinda crucial to the post's main point - which was to illustrate that it's possible to be very careful with your install sequence, but you might still get wildly different results if you do exactly the same procedure more than once. You're right that my sequence doesn't use the 'latest' possible package; but the latest is still only a repack of things I used, and if I'm describing how I got it working, it's better to record the steps I took rather than the steps I might've taken? All the best, Rob. Edited February 12, 2011 by FactionOne

Guest Goodge Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 So, I reinstalled using the latest self-installing beta2. I didn't setup data or anything, got to the home screen, unplugged, and left it an hour. It went from 100% battery to 74%. I don't get it. Why isn't my phone going to sleep?? I don't even have data turned on!

Guest Ngage Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I have batery 13% and connect to changer, but after cc 15 minut phone was very, very hot. I know when is change batery have a higher temperature, but not very hot. I thing the Android have not optimal control for change batery. I switched back to WM, this change with warm batery only.
Guest Goodge Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 i don´t get the battery life of some people here either, can it be caused by the SD card installation? Will it last longer on My storage? I don't think so...it's like half the phone knows it has signal, and the other half is keeping the phone awake searching for signal it already has. If you're having as bad battery life as me, go to Settings, About Phone, Battery Use, Cell Standby. Mine says it has 50% time without a signal (which is definately not the case).

Guest Goodge Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 If You think that Your battery is draining when sleeping, then the phone is not sleeping. Mine is definately not sleeping. From what I can tell, Dialer is keeping my phone awake 100% of the time...
Guest Yce Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) According to Android System Info the android.process.acore is running at 100% cpu. On my brother's phone (lg optimus gt540) this process is at 0%. It could be the couse of the fast drain? Edited February 12, 2011 by Yce
