Been testing the beta since Day 1...big thanks to the Dev's for this great work. Amazed at how much smoother and better the Beta2 is. Keep up the good work! still have issue with the battery life (I also have the strange issue with Cell standby taking up a good chunk of the battery and time without a signal being at 50%). I wonder if it's a matter of the UMTS bands being used by the phone...(I see that some ppl from Canada also have the same issue).

I'm also from Canada, and noticed it's on UMTS constantly, although I did see it show (for a split second) the other mode...but never again. I wonder if whatever is tracking "connected" doesn't consider UMTS to be connected and therefore keeps the phone awake. I'd love an update to address this. Us poor Canadians always get the short end :P

OK, quick update here... Tested the "beta 2 installation" package... And everything works like it should except the freaking sleep...I reset the phone 35 times... It went to sleep of death 32/35 times after about 3 seconds when i pressed the lock button...Reinstalled, and same thing happened...This is really a buggy thing... :P

Fun fact: If cable is inserted, it always works... :D

how about using ult_nrg fix and rapid81 fix..in this guide.not working for you? http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...o/#entry1600038

To the dev team,

I tried b2 and it is an improvement on battery saving.

Power saving is done by:

1- The screen switches off

2- followed by the phone switches off a bit like hibernation in laptops.

if you are in a call and the phone hibernates ie switches off then

it will end the call.

we need to stop the phone from hibernating during a call

the screen may switch off that's fine. It saves battery.

I tried Call Light Application, Unfortunately it is not totally compatible.

when you reboot the phone with it active the phone freezes. you have

to take the cover off and reset.

Other issues; some apps like calculator, switcher are not starting,

I think :

The links to the apps are broken in beta2

Or the apps have been deleted altogether in beta2.

installed the beta 2 using my storage method with ubuntu. beta 2 is working ok for me except for the occasional sleep of death and the fast battery drain which happens on occasion for me too. bt if i connect my o2 to the usb or charge it i seem to never get the wake problem or any freezing. big thanks to the devs who are working on this project.

quick question to the guys who did a mystorage installation.. do we need to root the installation like what emptyara mentioned a few posts up?

very weird problem with wifi. no release worked ,the main problem is that the wifi networks are detected for a few seconds (this can or cannot happen) it detects some networks (not all) at random times, but i cant connect to them, and they dissapear quick enough. i use latest build with 3d drivers + in WM WLAN is working fine.

after you see the networks, press on the netwtork you want to connect, select connect.

If in 2 seconds is not aquiring IP then press connect again...then in 2 seconds again...until it says "aquiring network adress".

That's it!

Hi guys....I ave the same problem, with he battery drain, 3G-UMTS, etc etc.

So this is what I did:

1. install extended controls, from market I guess...don't remember exactly;

2. when adding extended control widget, I select 3G to G option and APN Data On/Off;

3. whenever you want to switch to 2G mode, just press the Data Button (two arrows, one up, one down) to disconnect the APN, then just press the 3G - G button to go to network settings. There check the "use only 2G networks". Now you are on 2G. The ckeck mark should remain on.

4. You can can switch the APN Button On again...and you will have only 2G data.

It saves lot of battery but you will have a slower data connection. For weather update and stuff it is ok.

Whenever I need fast connection, I just turn data off again, 3G ON and then Data On again.

Hope that helps!

P.S. regarding the Cell Standby...now I have over 70%...I don't realy know what is going on here :P)

OK, I'm unofficially confirming here that, for me at least, the sleep problem is caused by the "beta2" installation package... Please check the files if there is something missing... If I install the beta2 by upgrading from beta 1, everything works perfectly, everything... If I install "beta2" from the combined package on the o2droid site, I get sleep problems ( aka sleep of death ) everytime...

Or you can do this in settings..select 2G only. and disable GPS in location settings.

Just wanted to mention that I don't get root access with beta 2.

"MyBackupRoot" was working fine with beta 1, but now it keeps telling me that my phone doesn't have root access.

Also, the battery of my phone drained from 100% to 0% last night - and I didn't sleep THAT long (maybe 7-8 hours)

from my experience after 8 hours of sleep...i lost 3% of battery... you have some serious problem here -.-

I've never had the sleep of death, but my battery life is horrible. I've done a fresh install using the latest installer, and it's completely stable...the phone just never goes to sleep...

I don't think so. I'm using the 10/2/11 pack and i never got the sleep of death. Have been testing for 24+ hrs now. I hope by sleep of death you mean complete device hang, that cannot be revived without pulling out the battery. Still have the unlock delay of 3-4 seconds though.

Also, theres still a lot of room for improvement regarding battery life. As pointed out by others, cell standby still accounts for about 50% on our i8000, whereas on other andoids, its in single digits.

Even then, i'm able to get through a complete day without having to recharge.
