from my experience after 8 hours of sleep...i lost 3% of battery... you have some serious problem here -.-

LOL...8 hours...3%! hahahaha. Dear god, tell me how you installed it?? I'm not kidding, without touching my phone I went from 61% to 42% in 1 hour, 25 minutes. I mean, I'd probably get your life if I turned on airplane mode...but I can't even get 8 hours out of mine... Did you do an upgrade, a fresh install, or?

fresh install...

Using the automatic installer posted on the 11th, or by extracting the o2b2filesys.tar.gz posted on the 10th manually?

I don't think so. I'm using the 10/2/11 pack and i never got the sleep of death. Have been testing for 24+ hrs now. I hope by sleep of death you mean complete device hang, that cannot be revived without pulling out the battery. Still have the unlock delay of 3-4 seconds though.

Also, theres still a lot of room for improvement regarding battery life. As pointed out by others, cell standby still accounts for about 50% on our i8000, whereas on other andoids, its in single digits.

Even then, i'm able to get through a complete day without having to recharge.

Yes, I mean the "device hang, and battery taking out" thing...It started to occur today in the morning...I have no idea why...it worked great since i did a fresh install from the beta 2 package for a few days now...did a few fresh installs and still, always the same annoying thing! :P

OK, I guess I need to reinstall again. I was using the latest beta2 installer last time.

I guess one of the apps I've installed must be causing this...

I've installed nothing and have serious battery drain. Fresh install using the latest installer, boot up, let it sit...and it still never goes to sleep...

voyteckst suggedted method

cd /media/disk/system/bin

sudo rm -rf su

sudo ln -s /media/disk/system/xbin/su su

what i did wrong..? i tried both but still failed to root..

This is wrong, sudo ln -s /media/disk/system/xbin/su su

Android wont be able to find this softlink, there is no such folder /media/disk....

So the third command should be, sudo ln -s ../xbin/su su

it is safer with relative path.

Beta2 seems way more stable, running for 24hours now with one crash ( wouldn't wake up )

only thing is, sometimes after sleep WIFI wont get back online.

Also when useing android manager WIFI, works perfectly

but ! after a couple of min phone goes into sleepmode, wifi transfer doesn't continue than

Thank you dev team ! beta2 feels way more stable please continue =D looking forward to beta3

* battery useage is still too much, recharged it all night now 50% left, ( 3 hours )

Only drama is i get sleep of death so it appears the main reason I upgraded to this beta has not been fixed.

To try and prevent the sleep of death: Start android while the phone is plugged into the charger (computer/mains/whatever). As long as it is plugged in and charging while you boot android through haret, you should not get the sleep of death (well, for at least say 24hrs). To unlock the phone you need to hold the power button for a few seconds and then let go and press it again quickly, however it should unlock like this without problems.

Obviously this method works for me so it may not work for you, but I think it should work for most people.

Is it just me, or is the battery levels reported in Android VASTLY different than the levels shown in WinMobile?

this is what iv been doin to so far no sleep of death for the past 8 hours.. battery drain seems a little slower than before. from 100% to 72% in eight hours with a few mins of calls.. 20 or more text messages and a few mins of browsing and doing market.. as the battery use displays that cell standby consumes the most power like i guess what everyone is experiencing at the moment. my cell stand by says 50%

Go to topic "Android for omnia 2" and search your APN, then find your country (operator) and fill what u need for internet and mms. settings>wireless & networks> A... Point Names (APN).

I did a fresh install on my storage, using ubuntu (FAT32, ext2) and b2 package, just add a drivers from Rapids package. I disabled GPS, use only 2G network (no needs for 3G, because I use only wi-fi), installed 6-7 app, surfing...make a lot of phonecalls, seems stable for now. Just 1 sleep of death (using almost 3 days). Charged phone twice...downloaded some live wallpapers from market (little bit a laggy, but works). Without GPS and 3G battery life is good (had to charge it once at day). So for me Android becoming a normal for daily usage. Even in this stage (BETA) its much better than winmo!! :P Cant imagine how it will look like with new drivers and Camera! omg...thanks devs and all testers! testing, testing... :D

Why developers can't package all ext2.tar.gz in one rootfs.img like on HD2 and other windows phone?.

It can be easy updated with a root folder containing all updates, and are some good kitchens for making roms.

Now that you mention it.... as far as i remember the alphaversion worked like this.

Maybe someone here knows how to do such a rootfs.img yourself?

did anybody manage to overclock the processor?

Whatever software I use, it is always sticking to 800 MHz.

Hi, is this the only method to unlock the phone, its a bit annoying, I've tried to map the unlock key to other button but it didn't work, I hope someone can help and let the unlock key wake up every time instead of using the power key. thanks.
