Guest jackep_82 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 did anybody manage to overclock the processor? Whatever software I use, it is always sticking to 800 MHz. i think thats because the programs that you need to overclock the processor needs your installation to be rooted for it to work.. but i might be wrong :P

Guest Sinistersky Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Quick update on the condition of my sleep of death... I had it running for a few hours on USB charger ( PC USB charger ), it never went to sleep of death...not even once...i woke it up and put it ot sleep about 100 times...for different times...and never went to sleep of death... I have unplugged it now from the charger, and it went sleep of death on my ass... -.- So basicly, as soon as i disconnect it from the charger and lock it, it goes to sleep of death every single time ( have to take out battery ) Please help. What is this caused by anyway?
Guest sdroid Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 HERE I cannot find any information. :P

Guest Yce Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Battery chargment is displayed correctly, but it's still draining fast. Also good news it doesn't heating up :P (installed on my storage)
Guest dadme Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Now that you mention it.... as far as i remember the alphaversion worked like this. Maybe someone here knows how to do such a rootfs.img yourself? http://www.miui-dev.com/forums/showthread....ild-for-the-HD2 it is a good example.
Guest ashburn Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I finally managed to get android working =D.. Yea, I actually pressed every single button at least once, and every single button combination..nothing wakes it up anymore :/ It's strange; on my last install, Android settled down at the third boot. At that time I didn't have any charger connected; Android was working well with no sleep of death (end-call button to wake, worked every time); but after about 24 hours working there was a freeze while I was typing a URL into the browser; I had to pull the battery out. Now if it's running on battery power (so it goes to 'proper' sleep), it will never wake up. ...But I'm enjoying it enough to reinstall every 24hrs or so at this stage of beta, so it's OK really I guess; but it is interesting/a little frustrating... Rob. EDIT: I don't notice any new warnings at shell, can I run fscheck locally (or perhaps via Ubuntu) to check the file system? I was sure I saw it mentioned on this thread but I can't spot it now (sorry!) Edited February 13, 2011 by FactionOne

I was sure I saw it mentioned on this thread but I can't spot it now (sorry!) I ran it once from within Ubuntu and after some errors corrected, the Android didn't boot up at all. For the moment I can't recognize what device is mounted the Android (when running). Seems to be /dev/root but when I do e2fsck /dev/root it gives me "no such device found". This is the script I found that is used for ext2 partition on Spica: #!/xbin/sh # echo "FSCK-DATA: Checking file system for DATA partition ..."; umount /dev/stl5; mount -t rfs -o rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,codepage=utf8,xattr,check=no /dev/stl5 /data; if [ ! $? = 0 ] then echo "FSCK-DATA: DATA is EXT ... starting filesystem check ..."; e2fsck -y /dev/stl5; mount -t ext2 -o rw,noatime, nodiratime, nodev, nosuid /dev/stl5 /data; if [ ! $? = 0 ] then mount -t ext4 -o rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,barrier=0,data=writeback /dev/stl5 /data; echo "FSCK-DATA: DATA EXT4 partition mounted as READ-WRITE ..." else echo "FSCK-DATA: DATA EXT2 partition mounted as READ-WRITE ..."; fi; else echo "FSCK-DATA: DATA is RFS ... skipping filesystem check ..."; fi; # remove debugger memory dumps; rm -rf /data/tombstones/*; echo "FSCK-DATA: DATA is RFS ... skipping filesystem check ..."; fi; # remove debugger memory dumps; rm -rf /data/tombstones/*; Obviously the /dev/stl5 is not existing on our device. The script is intended to be put in /system/etc/init.d/ Edited February 13, 2011 by surenz

I was sure I saw it mentioned on this thread but I can't spot it now (sorry!) i can also confirm that sleep of death returns after some time of using beta 2, i´m not sure if a reboot of the phone is to blame or something else, but it´s definitely there. And yes, my installation is basically unaltered (Call light being the only additional software) and i do know that only the 'hang up'-button should wake the phone, but it doesn´t anymore.

This is the script I found that is used for ext2 partition on Spica: Thanks for the reply - I might give it a try via Ubuntu because at the moment it seems I've nothing to lose - I haven't played with a terminal emulator on Android yet; maybe there's enough back-end stuff available to figure out which point we need to address with fsck locally. i can also confirm that sleep of death returns after some time of using beta 2, i´m not sure if a reboot of the phone is to blame or something else, but it´s definitely there. And yes, my installation is basically unaltered (Call light being the only additional software) and i do know that only the 'hang up'-button should wake the phone, but it doesn´t anymore. If doing fsck doesn't give me any miracle results; I'll be doing a reinstall. Once it's up-and-running well, and I can confirm free of sleep-of-death, I'll give it a shutdown (normal, with the button) and reboot to see if behaviour changes with a 'clean' reboot. Oh, and just a random question; is there any way for us to format YAFFS or some other flash optimised file system? I imagine support for other file systems hasn't been stripped-out of our kernel? Maybe some of the weird fs stuff people have seen is because we're using a desktop journalling system with very small block sizes? I dunno, just thinking aloud... Rob.
