Add to your home screen and you can turn data connection on and off with a single tap. Rob.

Guest myo2wantandroid Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Ok now i had 2 sleeps of death in 10 minutes. Thats my first 2 sleeps of death :D Whats rong?
Guest FactionOne Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I checked my file system (via Ubuntu) and there were no errors found; so I decided to just reinstall.. i´m not sure if a reboot of the phone is to blame or something else...I'll be doing a reinstall. Once it's up-and-running well, and I can confirm free of sleep-of-death, I'll give it a shutdown (normal, with the button) and reboot to see if behaviour changes with a 'clean' reboot. OK, after formatting my Android partition and extracting the files again, here is my sequence of boot-ups and the results: 1st boot - (Charger Connected) Android did its initial setup stuff and got the GUI. It displayed the lock-screen but had frozen; I had to remove the battery. 2nd boot - (Charger Connected) Android started with no problem, I unlocked the screen, waited for a few seconds then did a normal shut-down. 3rd boot - (Charger NOT Connected) Android started normally, I changed some settings (applied different wallpaper, changed LauncherPro dock appearance, deleted some shortcuts from home screen); then let the device go to sleep. I left it for about a minute to ensure it had gone to sleep (and not just screen-blank). As before, the lock button did nothing, but one press of the end-call button woke the phone within a second or so. I performed a normal shutdown. 4th boot - (Charger NOT Connected) Android again started normally, I was able to unlock the screen; I waited for sleep and left it alone for ~1 minute. Again the device unlocked fine using the end-call button. It would appear that sleep-of-death is pretty much gone, but if something happens to your install later (crashes/'dirty' reboots), it could come back. I'm going to continue playing with it... Rob.

Guest greatwiseone Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I've installed nothing and have serious battery drain. Fresh install using the latest installer, boot up, let it sit...and it still never goes to sleep... I tried the "2G only" method, and it seems that the whole "time without a signal" problem went away. I think it has to do with the UMTS bands being used by the phone. I wonder whether or not the phone (since it's based on Chinese i5700 Android) is trying to use bands that aren't used in Canada. In Canada, the main carriers use 850/1900 whereas in Asia is 2100. So, it might be trying to connect to 2100 in Canada, and therefore half the time it's not getting signal (and affecting the sleep functionality since it keeps trying to connect to a different band). My battery life seems to have improved a bit, and am testing more right now. Cell Standby is now only taking up 37% of the battery, whereas before it would be at like 60%....

Guest Carlos_rpg Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 try doing that in "...\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\" folder. i don't think adb works from anywhere. just add <PATH>\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\ path to windows local variables and it will work anywhere. <PATH>=install path
Guest xson Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Anyone experience auto reboot? My phone reboot after I plugged with Charger for some time.

I'm with Bell on the "new" network, which from my understanding ONLY has 3G...obviously the phone _can_ last as shown in WinMo... Which carrier are you with?

Guest Pete B Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Does anyone with a fair amount of experience have any suggestions on EXACTLY how to reformat my storage and an sd card. The reason I am asking is even the automated install is coming up with a kernel error due to not finding the partition from my understanding. Should I leave unallocated space before or in between the partitions? I have tried formatting in Ubuntu, Minitool, an sd card formatter, windows, and win mo. I have created partitions in minitool and ubuntu with just a fat32 and ext2 partition present. So I have tried them all but just not sure of the fine details. When I have recently done the partitions on my storage in Ubuntu the fat32 partition is ......k0p1 and the ext2 partition is .....k0p2 in Android as far as I am aware. So i have made the default.txt have the k0p2 value. I am hoping to resort back to the exact original state of the partitions on both my storage and the storage card so I can do the automatic install from o2beta onto the sd card and not get kernel panic errors on install.
