Guest Yce Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) I saw that the haret (or android) writing out status masseges in the background. Can it be disabled? or it has no impact on the performance and/or the battery life? ( in windows console programming a lot of printf/cout could use the cpu at 100% :D ) Edited February 14, 2011 by Yce

Guest Marusaia Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) Hello All. my experience: I'm working with The beta1 updated to Beta2, no fresh install... (automatic install on SD card of Beta1) Everything works fine. I have the sleep of death and i found a way to stop it (it run ok on my device): I've installed "CPUboost" lite and "autokiller memory optimizer". When boot Android, I launch these two softs even if they startup automatically. Set sleep cpu speed to min: 216*** and max: 284*** (approximately) Now, i experienced no sleep of death and my battery last 1.5 - 2 days. Hope this help you. Edited February 14, 2011 by Marusaia
Guest CalvinH Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Ok now i had 2 sleeps of death in 10 minutes. Thats my first 2 sleeps of death :D Whats rong? Hi! Sorry about the sleep of death. It seems that many people is having the same problem. It can apparently be solved by reinstalling, at least for a couple of days... Anyway, I was answering you because you have been asking about some kind of boot manager. Dual boot didn't work fine in my phone (it's in spanish, and I had to do some registry search / replace until it worked). Maybe you could check this other utility from a member of this forum. http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...oot-to-o2droid/ Regards.
Guest marisaleh Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Anyone experience auto reboot? My phone reboot after I plugged with Charger for some time. Yes the same thing happend with mine
Guest slmz Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) Who have sleeping problem, please pay attention in this post: I tried the "2G only" method, and it seems that the whole "time without a signal" problem went away. I think it has to do with the UMTS bands being used by the phone. I wonder whether or not the phone (since it's based on Chinese i5700 Android) is trying to use bands that aren't used in Canada. In Canada, the main carriers use 850/1900 whereas in Asia is 2100. So, it might be trying to connect to 2100 in Canada, and therefore half the time it's not getting signal (and affecting the sleep functionality since it keeps trying to connect to a different band). My battery life seems to have improved a bit, and am testing more right now. Cell Standby is now only taking up 37% of the battery, whereas before it would be at like 60%.... Exactly! I did "2G only" set and my phone got sleep again, 4% last 9 hs. However on reboot the set is lost and I've to do it again. So the radio part seems to be the guilt of behavior this issue. EDIT: OK! This is confirmed, in last two hours I left my phone in sleep just pressing hangup button, and the battery dont drain nothing, 0%. Simply setting "use only 2G network", I have not use GPRS, nor APN I have set. OBS: Here in my city carrier dont have umts only edge, what too confirm theory of permanent 3G scan avoiding sleep. I would like to know how set the system to dont lost 2g only configuration on reboot... Edited February 14, 2011 by slmz
Guest Links2004 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 hi, has anyone working gmail.apk / GmailProvider.apk for the beta2? The old files for beta1 on this Topic crash the beta2. Links

Links Just download an Eclair build for the Spica on http://www.samdroid.net/ (using the kitchen, you'll get an update.zip file) and extract the apks from there. Guest surenz Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I put the SetCPU program and configured it to change from 133 MHz to 800 MHz (so no deep sleep). Since 4h I hadn't any sleep of death or unexpected restart. The battery is draining as fast as before, for the heat - the same. The phone unlocks with no more than twice push on Power on/hang up button. For 3h hard use the battery felt down from 80% to 18%. WiFi enabled all the time. I think roughly all the the problems are coming from the deep sleep or most likely the incapability to do it.
