I could never get beta2 to work properly, calculator, screen grab and a few other apps refuse to run.

I can now got those apps to work with the following 2d/3d driver update

I grabbed the driver package somewhere in this thread and removed some of the stuff that I think does not belong with the driver to make this update. I have also making receiving a few calls with no dropping out after 30s, but this could be just lucky.

It is early stage yet, so will see how i go and report back.

If anyone is having problems with calculator app, please try this update and let me know if it actually helps or it was just lucky that it got things working after 10 fresh installs :D I recommend you do a fresh install with beta2_1024, and if it does not work well you can always fresh install the original o2bfilesys package with this update.

Cheers.

since calculator still isn't working with this update i was wondering with apps you also got working thanks to the update

No more kernel panic, no more slow downloads on wlan, overall speed is much better as well!

Totally recommend it :D

Have you tried fresh install with the original o2bfilesys package? this works really well for me.

Other apps that I got working with this update are shootme, gtuner (gstrings), angry bird (patched version), they all crashed with other 2d/3d packages on beta2. But as I said this could be just coincidence, I will do more testing.

So far the only app that does not work is the integrated Home switcher, but this could be widespread.

Use "sudo" on this one as well.

EDIT: the guide is NOT correct. Use "sudo ln -s /system/xbin/su ." instead of the third line.

Hi, I wonder anyone solve the issue of not using power/end call button to wake up the phone, only use screen off/unlock button to wake up the phone(side). I don't like using the power button to wake up the phone, and I alway have to press two three times hard, very annoying. I've used Rapid button and Menu fix but no help. Thanks.

On my phone android performance is so sluggish on "My Storage", it runs much smoother on SD card, I must have a very fast SD card.

I follow your guide to perform rooting...

After it, my android cannot boot, it keep on rebooting, and didn't see boot screen

I have a brand new class 10 card which is the highest class I have seen in micro sd and find "my storage" to be faster all round. But the main thing that changed me was the kernel errors that suddenly appeared after a crash when I ran it from storage card. And this wasn't from a fault with the card itself because my storage card has 10GB of data/music/video's on it and none of it is corrupted. Happened 3 times to me so got sick of reinstalling again. Never had it on my storage.

I know the read and wrote speeds are meant to be faster on the sd card by a fair bit so it does appear a little odd.

Go to Project home page and report this update if u think that this can fix problem with dropping out of calls after 30s! :D

I need more testing but so far I have not had a drop out.

How long is a long time?

I had just reinstalled on SD card using the o2bfilesys, the 3g update and my 2d/3d package, it's been running for approx 6 hrs with no sleep issue. I will leave it to go to sleep without charging and see if I have the same issue.

I used beta2 for 3 days, it's pefect for me...glad to meet your good job of DEV...Let's me say Thanks for all.

Normally, I have to "Power off" phone to prevent problem "Death sleeping" happen.

I hard to say, I found hard problem when I boot android again and also reset HW, then I still found below sentence.

" Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. "

I know, has someone found this and ask already in this thread but sorry I cannot find for the answer.

How to solve this problem to better than new installation ?

Help me please, I really need to use it.

Sorry for my english and thank you in advance.

I found my sd card installations ended up doing this after some time. I changed to my storage install and have never had this error again apart from when I had the wrong partition value in the default.txt

You could try using ubuntu and its fsck command to check the file system of the ext2 partition.

It cannot be colved by android configuration. It's in kernel. If there will be time, it will be changed.

If you have not tried the original o2b2filesys package

then try a fresh install with that, follow by the 2011-02-10 bugfix

follow by the 2d/3d update.

Other things that I did, with my SD card

From WINMO

Mount SD card as storage

Still running WINMO, connect phone to Ubuntu machine, run

sudo -s (do this once then you dont have to worry about sudo for each following command)

gparted

Delete all partitions on SD card, /dev/sdd

Then create two partitions as follow

1st primary partition size 2047 FAT32

2nd primary partition size 2047 EXT2

then (fdisk -l to list all available partitions)

mount /dev/sdd1 /media/disk1

mount /dev/sdd2 /media/disk2

Extract haret.exe. default.txt, zImage, and o2bete (for completeness) from the o2b2filesys on to disk1

Extract on to disk2 the rest of the packages in the order outlined earlier.

Then

sync;sync;sync

umount /media/disk*

that were all I did, it works everytime now, root et all.

I can confirm the call drop-out issue is still there.

Try another calculator applications from market such as realcalculator. :D

Anyone know how to set android to use data connection only when needed?

I dunno, only use apndroid. When I want to use data connection only just turn on it.

My phone runs great all goes well, there are only a few applications that cause system instability, and battery lifetime is still fast.

Waiting for the camera implementation in the next development.. GREAT works Dev. :D

Is anyone with the i8000 from Bell Canada getting reasonable battery life, or are all of ours not going to sleep properly??
