kernel panic . not syncing: no init found. try passing init

does anybody know what is the problem here? This is the fifth time this week that I am getting this kernel message. What files are corrupt...or missing?

I had to reinstall everything...and this is happening like every 3...4 days.

from what i know the beta2 already comes rooted

if u go to:

settings > about phone

and check the kernel version it says:

root@devel

@Sinistersky

use the same drivers that were first ever released ... FIRST EVER ORIGINAL ones

rename to o2b2.. and put in my storage..

only the original ones work flawless .. at least for me..

btw i installed beta2 as:

1) clean format sd

2)use files from a 512/1024 beta1

3)paste filesys of beta2, rename to ext2...

4)paste 2d drivers after renaming to o2b2

for in detail steps follow the info thread .. it has something for beta2 install also..

The same for me with last Rootexplorer version, but not with an older one. Try an older version.

Again for all the people suffering from Sleep of Death:

Install SetCPU, configure it to not go lower than 133 MHz and put it in conservative mode.

Since I've done this, I haven't even single Sleep of death, neither freeze or spontaneous reboot.

16h since unplugged and I'm on 23%. Used to wake me up today morning and for some music and try of the GPS. Still the most consumption comes from Cell standby.

So I have downloaded setcpu and set the minimum cpu as 133MHz. Now I didn't think I had rooted my phone but wondering if it was done at install.

In the setcpu program the minimum it goes down to is 133MHz which it used to do down to 66MHz off memory. So I assume this means it is working and my phone must be rooted.

I have set run at boot and think this all I need to do.

Sorry I know it looks like all is done correctly buy just want to be 100% sure.

P.S I was going to suggest for the info thread that they put the steps for rooting but it appears it doesn't need to be done on the new install. If this is not the case I will suggest to put it in the other thread.

can i just use these on top of the one i'm using right now without any problems?

yes i think

You can always follow the on screen realtime frequency whether your cpu is going to 66 MHz.

The new beta 2 fresh install seems to be rooted out-of-the-box ... but I can't neither enter in the /data folder.

Anyway this is not an obstacle to use the SetCPU.

Unfortunately, I had one sleep of death when I connected my data cable. I think it's caused by my Linux laptop trying to work in some strange mode because this happens for second time already. No problems to charge the phone with the charger or to connect it to my Windows laptop (with Ubuntu VM included).

I got this problem and solved it changing ext2 partition for ext3.
