Guest slmz Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Well, a little summary of bugs until now and provisory solution: The phone lost calls at 30 seg.....solve it installing call ligth apk. The phone sometimes freezes or reboot alone ..........solve it installing setcpu apk and set 133MHZ min freq. (choose conservative for low drain battery) set on boot. The phone dont sleep......solve it setting 2G only on mobile internet config . This is lost on reboot. You must configure it again in every start. The phone change time when restart.......solve it setting time location London 0 GMT in WinMO Something more? Edited February 16, 2011 by slmz

Guest stu_2k1 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Tryed this on T*Omnia II koreean version. No chance to work. Got Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. after first boot. Mounting SDCARD in Linux and starting Gparted got me to the point that second partition with all android files is gone and formated to FAT32 ( by the phone i think on card insertion) so at the and i have 1st primary partition size 2047 FAT32 with haret.exe, default.txt and zImage and 2 nd primary partition size 2047 FAT32 with a system folder on it created again, i supose by phone. Get me mad. Only working version it wos omlaxy 0.2 with works with a rootfs.img filesystem like on HTC HD2. Any ideeas on how het this particular type of Omnia II to work with Android? I was having the same issue. Had to reflash my phone with the latest rom again and start fresh. All seems ok now,

Any ideeas on how het this particular type of Omnia II to work with Android? maybe you can do the same with your sch-m710 or sch-m715, as they did with i920. just create a new thread in Modaco Omnia II forum to make the i8000 port run on your device. For i920 there is some haret info collecting to see how the devices differ, so save testing is possible. Maybe if i920 is jumpstarted, m710 can follow. Active users who own a device and want to contribute with some skills can speed up a possible adaptation of the i8000 port.
Guest kyda Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) I have created a quick and dirty install and uninstall script, o2binstall.sh I sometimes install an update to test then remove it when it causes some problems. If you install the updates manually then this script is for you, just make sure you are on the mounted partition when you run it. As always use it at your own risk. # Install and uninstall o2b updates # Use it at your own risk # # cd to the mounted partition then execute # /path/o2binstall.sh i|u /path/updatetarfile ["description"] # Where i=install u=uninstall (uninstall option only uninstalls the last update) # "description"=keep a description of the action in the o2binstall.log file # # Limitation: # Uninstall option only uninstalls the last update # Uninstall does not remove empty directories. # Examples: $ pwd /media/disk $ ~/bin/o2binstall.sh i ~/Download/o2bupdateGMAIL.tar.gz "gmail app" $ ~/bin/o2binstall.sh u ~/Download/o2bupdateGMAIL.tar.gz "gmail app" $ cat o2binstall.log Wed Feb 16 11:41:49 EST 2011 i /home/me/Download/o2bupdateGMAIL.tar.gz gmail app Wed Feb 16 11:41:58 EST 2011 u /home/me/Download/o2bupdateGMAIL.tar.gz gmail app o2binstall.zip Edited February 17, 2011 by kyda
Guest cp8 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 kernel panic . not syncing: no init found. try passing init does anybody know what is the problem here? This is the fifth time this week that I am getting this kernel message. What files are corrupt...or missing? I had to reinstall everything...and this is happening like every 3...4 days. I got the same problem. and it seems like always happening after i copied my backup files to my storage card. Maybe i had to try it for serval days without my backup files.

Guest greatwiseone Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I've been testing the 2G only method for reducing battery use, and here are some observations: 1) It seems Android doesn't like to change to 2G only if it was already running 3G. In order to reduce the "time without a signal" using 2G only, I have to turn on 2G only, then use airplane mode to turn off all connections, and then disable airplane mode to turn the radio back on. At this point, I was able to get the "time without a signal" down to 0%. Battery life is slightly improved, although cell standby is still taking up lots of battery life. 2) When I had the radio off, I had sleep of death problems discussed in this thread (which I don't normally have). I wonder if people who have sleep of death problems have better battery life (or vice versa). I wonder if the radio is contributing to the O2 not sleeping properly and hence using up much more battery life.
Guest bobhero Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I had a strange experience, I booted up beta2 and before it finished vertical green lines took over the screen and my phone started buzzing as if the electronics were going to fry. I pulled out the battery and thankfully no damage, and I was able to boot into beta2 again without issue. Strange!

Guest mosci Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) kernel panic . not syncing: no init found. try passing init just what it says no init found - this means the 'init' was not found this means the settings in the default.txt are wrong or the filesystem has been currupted. in the android-rootfs is a file called 'init' in the default.txt stands something like: Set CMDLINE "rootdelay=2 root=/dev/mmcblk1p2 init=/init" so this line means: wait two seconds before going to the rooft-fs the rootfs is on mmc-blockdevice 1 partition 2 and then use the file 'init' for further instructions and now the circle closes ... on mmc-blockdevice 1 (usualy the storagecard) on partition 2 was no file called 'init' found. thus wrong partition .... or broken filesystem - (most of the time the problem isn't the filesystem) you simply have to set the right partiton on the right blockdevice, Edited February 16, 2011 by mosci
Guest alexovy Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) I can't turn on 2g Only in my network settings, is there a free app you guys know I can use for it? you need to turn off 3G data first (turn APN OFF) and then turn "use only 2G" ON. Now...to turn APN OFF you can install extended controls from market, and there you have one button that says "APN OFF". Good luck! Edited February 16, 2011 by alexovy

Guest Rufik Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 no init found - this means the 'init' was not found this means the settings in the default.txt are wrong or the filesystem has been currupted. I had a lot of problems with filesystem corruption using ext2. I use ext3 and all the problems gone.
