Android on Omnia II - i8000 (18.04.2011)

Hey friend! You haven't install ubunto on PC. You must install a virtual ubunto through VMplayer. Open VMplayer and Choose "create a new virtual machine" click "installer disc image" and browse for folder were you save ubunto image (.iso) that you downloaded. Then install it normally, when you open VMplayer again, ubunto will be there in left side of window home, click that and play it.

Well my install on my storage ext2 partition has come up with an error while running in Android about "acore stopped working" again. I only just reinstalled Android and set it up how I had it before so a little annoyed right now.

I posted this last time I had the error pop up in Android but only one person said they have seen this error.

Anyone else experiencing it?

Unfortunately it means when i open some programs they close soon after. Things like the dialer which is sort of important. It doesn't appear to be program specific.

I got it after installing 3D drivers that weren't from post 8.

You are not alone! xD I have the same problem, and I tried with a lot of drivers from here and Samdroid and I can't solve it!

Ok I have manage to install ubuntu tru vm player, when i connect the phone with windows i see 2g storage and there is where i put my files from android, is that right.

Then when i connect it tru ubuntu i see DISK 0 and DISK and the rest off the storage card.

But then i go to the terminal and then i got stuck, i don't know what to do.

I hope i get there with you help.

Well just copy and past one by one this comands:

sudo cp /media/DISK0/o2b2filesys.tar.gz /media/disk/

cd /media/disk/

sudo tar xzvf o2b2filesys.tar.gz -C /media/disk

cd

sudo cp /media/DISK0/o2bupdate.tar.gz /media/disk/

cd /media/disk/

sudo tar xzvf o2bupdate.tar.gz -C /media/disk

OBS: change "disk" by "DISK" or how you named it and others stuffs.

Attention DEV-TEAM

Regarding the sleep to death problem that a lot of people are having,

I think that there is a subtle cause of this problem.

After a fresh reboot, and by using a taskmanager you will see that

there is only about 45MB RAM left, and when you start opening more

apps, then the omnia II will run out of RAM and crashes.

Now to DEV-TEAM

Can you please configure so that minimal apps are loaded on start up.

Apps like settings, email, clock etc,each of these takes up about

15MB of RAM. We don't need all these apps started at startup.

I am pretty sure that this is one of the causes of crashes

and sleep to deaths.

Does anyone else notice some programs starting by themselves?

I installed TaskKiller e closed all the running programs. But after a while (with the phone down) when I open the taskiller again, some programs are running again, like messaging, contacts, clock, calendar, settings.

Is it normal?

I think that this may be the cause for the overheating in the back of my phone.

Another thing, I can't set the "work only in 2g" mode. I select the option and go back to the main menu, but the 3G sign is still there.

I have this problem where i want to install beta2 on the SD Card...and it says error/ invalid (number) / there is no space left... What should i do?

I tried manualy making the partition, i tried forating it, i tried using beta1...nothing works, i always get that strange error there is no device left, shirnk partition 1 to 6507568kb or whatever

so, I reinstall it with nOObody suggestion 3d lib. it works again.. btw, I installed it in my storage.. anybody else had this problem with above 3d lib?

actually I did....I lose 2 days to get Android run again on My storage!!! Ill decide to give a chance to this drivers and did a fresh install, but after IPC... WM just boot again! So I did a fresh install again, but 2 days of troubles, fails etc. So I made ext3 partition (last time was ext2) and now works with Noobody drivers...again. I dont know whats the problem with that drivers but no chance to work android with that drivers (tried about 6-7 times with different combinations of partitions!). So I did a fresh install with older drivers and Im enjoying again! :D

But I have Android on My storage, so it means that I need to install them through ubuntu? like o2b2updates.tar.gz (to untar them)?

OK,here is what I did:

1.Install VMWare Player

2.Download UBUNTU 32 bit version from here http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download

3.Install Ubuntu

4.Download & install MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition

5.Take your phone ,go to Samsung Settings USB settings and set USB Connection to My Storage

6.Back up your My Storage to Storage Card (or you will loose all data there)

7.Connect the phone to the PC-> it will connect like mass storage device

8.Open MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition,select the Storage device Samsung and delete the partition->then click create and create 1020 Mb(in my case of 2 GB Internal Storage) FAT 32 partition(give it a name like disk0 without space),there will be left about 1 GB unallocated storage->select right button,click create partition format EXT2 (or EXT3) with a name like disk and select APPLY!->your My Storage will be formatted!!!you will see only 1 GB Storage device in My Computer in Windows.

(EDIT: You can format in the UBUNTU also with Disk Utility ,but first use Unmount storage.)

9.Copy the entire beta1024 folder content on the root of the storage device in Windows! ,not the folder,the content with Android files: ext2.targz default.txt zImage o2beta folder Haret.exe and o2bupdate.tar.gz

10.Disconnect phone & launch VMWare Player and run UBUNTU.

11.connect the phone, it will be recognized like android storage device.

12.In the Ubuntu go to Applications-Accessories run Terminal,--> write down this:

sudo cp /media/disk0/ext2.tar.gz /media/disk/ and wait untill finishes

after that write:

cd /media/disk/ there will be a line like : cd /media/disk$

you must write down this after this line:

sudo tar xzvf ext2.tar.gz -C /media/disk

(edit: you can also extract all you o2bupdate.tar.gz to system with above methods)

And you go,all the content of ext2.tar.gz will be extracted to disk (in this case Android partition) -> at the end of extraction unplug the phone from PC

13.Turn of the VMWare Plater & Ubuntu, plug the USB with the phone to PC again and edit the line:

Set CMDLINE "rootdelay=2 root=/dev/mmcblk1p2 init=/init" to this:

Set CMDLINE "rootdelay=2 root=/dev/mmcblk0p5 init=/init"[/b and save it (EDIT: if you get kernel panic you can try mmcblk0p6 ,or mmcblk0p2 if you have a ext3 partition)

14.Unplug phone -> and run Haret exe from the root of My Storage not from inside o2beta folder

And you are ready to test :D

I've found a new bug.

After ipc transfer, the load screen appeared, so far good, but the console (or what) was flashing through the gui. It happend once so far... oh and sometimes it can't load the onedram (if I remember correctly).
