After deleted android from my storage,now i just want to install android on SD card.

but it keeps showing that

Mounting: cannot mounting /dev/block/ mmcblk0p5 on /sdcard failed:no such device or address

PLS help!

First, if it is on your SD, you have to change the default.txt and startup.txt (if you have) from mmcblk0 to mmcblk1.

My Storage is 0, SD is 1.

Then you have to look in some partition softwares, like gparted, what is your exact name of the partition. Probably, in your case is the second partition on SD.

Partition 1 is p1, partition 2 is p2.

So you have to use mmcblk1p2. Change this in the default.txt file and see if it is working.

New install of beta2 on an ext4 My Storage >> stu2k drivers >> manual copy of update 3/03>> deletion of the apps that don't work >> tweaks by kgp700 (with changed freqs)

So far now my experience:

-- blazing smooth and snappy system

-- Quadrant at the level of ext2 ~270

-- no SoD and even more the phone exits from sleep with smooth transition

-- I have a Cell Standby of 2% --> is it resolved the issue ?!

-- magnetometer OK; rotation OK; proximity not working

The bad was that I had two locks up that leaded to soft reset.

That is for two hours of testing.

I also confirm (ext4 on My Storage):

- a lot smoother;

- no SOD (yet :();

- cell standby less then 5%;

- 2 or 3 crashes (battery removed) at the beginning when all the applications started to download updates and sync, etc, etc.

hehe...because I have installed it like 6 time already, I have copied all the files in one folder and then I just unpack everything to the ext4 partition and zImage, haret and default.txt to root of My Storage....and VOILA!

It takes like 10 min.

works well for me. SetCPU got messed up some how(shows wrong cpu speeds)

but android works fine without it.

Still high battery drain on i8000L with HSPA (approx 10% per hour in sleep)

You want to change the name of the partition, or what do you mean? How was the original situation?

So you have no SOD even without SetCPU?

Would be very nice to solve this problem. It is a pain in the *** :(

For me, the biggest issues of all is the battery life..

Some people said they have solved the battery issue but after trying all possible solutions from everyone that claimed to have fix'd it, my problem still goes on :(

In terms of battery life..

- Using SetCPU: conservative (maybe a few minutes gain..)

- Using SetCPU: powersave (probably get around +3 hours of battery life but its impossible for daily use, 66mhz is way too slow..)

- Using SetCPU: ondemand (phone sleep of death 100% of time so it's also impossible to use)

- Dialing *#*#4636#*#* and changing the phone to GSM only (no difference)

- Using only 2G network (no difference)

- Changing CPU settings to Auto on WMobile and installing Android from scratch (no difference)

I forgot what else I've tryied lol :)

Doesn't matter what config I use on SetCPU.. I can't get more than 8 hours, even without touching the phone, the battery drains very quickly..

The best result I had (8 hours) was using "SetCPU powersave mode" (wich downclocks the cpu to 66mhz) but it's impossible to use the phone at that speed :(

And trust me, its really frustating trying to stop your alarm with only 66mhz when you wake up in the morning, so you might end up waking up your whole family in the proccess.. lol

Any more ideas guys?

Ok, guys I got a new problem.

I just did a fresh Beta2 install with gruven's cpu 1.3 patch with jit and stu_21k's 2d/3d lib drivers

At quadrant I got a total of 319 but with 3d at 35 -,-"

I/O at 1491 which is ridicilous!

I installed previous 2d/3d libs too in hope it would work but no cheer yet =(

Anyone know the problem??

When using quadrant it gives me the following Warning

Warning

This device uses a software OpenGL ES renderer. The application may not work correctly

I just installed beta2. Everything works fine except...

There is no ringtone when a call is coming! I tried to set the Phone Ringtone in the setting, it popped up an error saying "The application settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly".

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance!

@kgp700 this error happend when compiling new .ko

try this in make menuconfig you need to uncheck "general" -> "automatically append version ...." if you don't update the *.ko

and update them with the o2b2update.tar.gz and 02b2update.sh

or start from scratch and ext3

thank you very much

but where is "general" -> "automatically append version ...." menu?

maybe it's related /kernel/.config

# CONFIG_MODVERSIONS is not set

# CONFIG_MODULE_SRCVERSION_ALL is not set

CONFIG_LOCALVERSION=""

CONFIG_LOCALVERSION_AUTO=y

this options?

Been toying with the new beta and I noticed a few things:

- performance tends to decrease when the screen is in landscape mode

- as for landscape mode, the transition effect is missing

Is this related to the current GPU driver?

- calculator not working (now that's strange, it always did work flawlessly)

- where is the "auto brightness" setting? Haret responds nicely to the light sensor, but Android itself does not?

I will be able to report on battery drain tomorrow morning.

On Windows Mobile the performance always decrease when I use landscape mode so maybe:

1. The GPU is not good enough and can't handle things in landscape..

2. The drivers are faulty (wich is very likely since we are talking about samsung here..)

3. A combination of both problems, bad GPU+faulty drivers..

And don't forget we are running a beta version of android, so probably things will never be very optimized for our omnia's

So you should be very happy that it is at least working :)

I don't know about any transition effect/animation when changing to landscape mode so I can't say anything about that..

Sometimes my calculator doesn't work either, like now, I just tryied and it's not working lol :(

The option to set brightness to "auto" is not implemented on this beta yet, altough you can notice that when you place your phone near a lamp, it does increase the brightness automaticaly, and also decreases brightness when you move far away from it..

About this, I'll just quote what phj said a few posts ago:

"The Android part of the light sensor not implemented yet ( the lux data you can reach from /sys/class/lightsensor/switch_cmd/get_lux) , but inside the lightsensor module implemented the auto backlight feature ( and set it on in init.rc ), so in strong light there is a brighter display as in winmo(...)"

:(
