here is the update after installed your correction.(ext3 on my storage)

1. magnetic and orientation sensor (compass)work;

2. light sensor seems don't work;

3. system does not rotate, so....

sorry, it is my mistakes. all the sensors are working ....

i did the test in a little bit dark room so that could not feel the light change, when i took it outside, it is great.

and i did not turn on the auto-rotate option in launchpro last night, just turned it on and it works..

greate works! development team.

what's more, i feel the system running more smooth and the battery usage shows different.

Yes, I manually installed beta2_1024, 2d/3d libs onto SD card, 2047MB EXT4 using gparted only.

Phone is on steroid run very fast,

I have got one freeze after 24hrs of usage and was in the middle of WIFI use, the phone got really warm, and hung.

I dont use any special apps such as cpu, taskkiller, no 2g only, just the keepscreen app.

Inbuilt calculator still not working, but I think if I have the apk file I can make it works by reinstall it, this is how I fix all the

apps that dont work just after the fresh install such as the Home Switcher app.

Apart from that it is going great, battery can last up to 48hrs if I control the usage of wi-fi and also using timerific app,

so far no sleep of death with or without charging.

Sum it up, Android is usable as is, I cant imagine how good it would be at release candidate stage and beyond.

Could you please help me to do the same? I'd like to install android in my sdcard. I tried all kind of methods, but I coud not install anyway. If you can tell me where I can download the correct files to install android in my sdcard, I thank you. Please give me a step by step way to install it. I'm just starting with android....

I just installed beta2. Everything works fine except...

There is no ringtone when a call is coming! I tried to set the Phone Ringtone in the setting, it popped up an error saying "The application settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly".

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance!

You can get around this (if I recall from a couple of weeks ago) by using the music player to choose the ringtone.

Battery of my Omnia 2 went down from 97% to 84% last night (7 hours). That's about 2% per hour! Pretty good!

Same here, I stopped using the phone around 11pm and checked it again at 9:30am and the battery fell from 69% to 63%, a great improvement.

However, key layout and CPU frequencies still need some tweaks, as the system STILL needs the power button to wake up.

Oh, and it would be quite nice to have Calculator back...

I think the battery drain because of Cell standby problem is over.

Unfortunately, I had many lock-ups with screen freezing (perhaps an ext4 issue) and I gave up to use it on daily basis (I wanted to wake up today for work, lol).

I have to admit that the rotation support raised a lot the comfort of usage (SMS, browser).

And I tried the browser in landscape with a very heavy page like desktop version of www.engadget.com.

It was running not worse than the portrait mode.

And a lot better than WinMo Opera in landscape.

Another thing is the speed with ext4 partition. Usually when synchronizing or installing something from the Market I couldn't do anything else.

Now with ext4 I can run many tasks at same time and the speed decrease is negligible.

I'm still having some regular Sleep of Death problems. I read something about the HD2 port of android that the Radio ROM was the cause of this behaviour on the HD2. Could it be that this might also happen on the i8000 or is this not possible? What Phone firmware is used to test android? I'm now using the latest Phone firmware I8000XXJJ1.

I would like to know if there is a relationship between a sleep of death and the phone firmware.

thnx

I think so because now the most consumption comes from Android system which is normal as I was using almost at 100% the phone to install software.

If I haven't called I would not have any Cell standby even. Anyway it is still measuring with 50% of Time without signal but it was discussed already as an Android bug.

I only installed call light, and synced contacts, calendar and email with google through wifi. My impressions so far is this is a real beta. I mean it has some flaws but overall makes our omnia usable for everyday use. Battery drain which was most annoying for me, has gotten better, sensors work(light sensor works better than winmo), screen responsive and android overall smoother and faster. Some problems with keys (delay when turning on screen) and wifi cant always connect or turn on, but restart solved it. I think we are very close to a stable release. In my opinion, as long as most features are enabled devs should consider (if its possible) solving these minor bugs. These weekend my omnia will run nothing but android for a full everyday crash test...

how do u install o2b2update.sh manually through ubuntu? i have the same problem as sinistersky, installed on mystorage ext4 and always had to manually extract updates onto the phone using ubuntu (putting o2b2update files on mystorage doesnt work)

edit: nvm i got it to work. anyways to anyone who had the same problem as me:

1) copy out o2b2update.sh to ur home folder in ubuntu

2) open o2b2update.sh and edit the 2nd line to /media/disk/system/lib/hw

3) in terminal type "sh /home/(user)/o2b2update.sh"

unplug ur phone and then it should work.

i tried this but its not working for me.. can anyone pls let me know how to update an sh file? im using mystorage installation :(

have you preformed exactly the steps described? I have and my device works. keep in mind that when modifying the sh file you need to point to the /media/... which reflect how the device partition is mounted in Ubuntu. In my case this was /media/ANDROID.

this is what it says

cd: 2: can't cd to media/disk/system/lib/hw

ln: creating symbolic link `sensors.default.so': File exists

any ideas? thanks for the reply :(

I assume that you have /media/disk/... folder? Have you tried to cd there from the terminal? How about sudo when executing the script?
