Android on Omnia II - i8000 (18.04.2011)

Have you guys checked these files after replacing them with Root Explorer?i've checked! it turned out the files from I9000 Rom are merely saved as backup files by Root Explorer because they are older than the original files .in case of Tayutama_Edition_v1.0.2_I9000, many of them are dated 2008. so i guess Android doesn't rely on these files from Froyo to function! also i have not noticed any substantial improvement in system performance. maybe i'm wrong

wow..that tayutama is really fast..faster than samdroidmod..what happening here..I thought galaxy s have different hardware than us..but when I try to apply..its amazing smooth..

thanks ASIDER..I would never know untill u try it first..by the way I'm using 3 partition in mystorage..one for /data one for /system and another partition for rootfs..so I just create 1 ext4 partition in my sdcard for /system directory and map that partition in init.rc..voila..I can test any build without changing my current stable in mystorage...

Hello , ASIDER, would you please check the replaced folders and see if the froyo files are directly under each replaced folder ? i hope i'm the only one who have not managed to replace these system files. but i think if you use Root Explorer to move files and there are two files with the same name, it compare the 2 versions and will automatically save the older version as a backup in case something goes awry.

U will copy your new system when your 2.1 runing you will copy with root explorer

only dont copy applications

I think you shouldn't delete all your own /system

but keep it and then replace it with the new one

do this is meaning to keep the files which the Ult 1.4 may not have.

but I doubt it because RE is running in android, how can it replace ALL the system files without shutting down the system???

and in my opinion, some critical files may not have been changed to the new one.

so when we can use Ubuntu to transfer files (/system without /system/apps) and make it run as usual,

then it is exactly working.

but as xibianliang said,the copy seems to be uncorrectly,and the results is that the folders from 9000 rom is just in our 8000 system's same folders,not just take the place of them

That's why it's very ugly and You have to replace it (not delete old files) on running system. It will replace some binaries/libraries/framwework, but will also leave default 2d/3d libraries and other stuff.

ASIDER please create new thread with it, because now this thread will be more trash than earlier.

hi brother, i found there is no 2.3 features at all but just some infos updated in "About" page. someone has already indicated that RE would not overwrite the folder but just create another folder under that folder which with the same name. and i confirmed that it is true....

I think this thread is dedicated to the devs and their release. There is a lot of people who can wait a little more to run froyo from the devs. This is a new alternative method and for those interested a new thread is a must.
