Guest DreamingInsomnia Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Greetings to all of you and great thanks to the dev team. I have installed Android on my Chinese stock i8000 and after booting it always ends up in a freeze, after about 1min. I tried patching with 2/3D drivers, updating the zImage, or total re-install but still making no difference. What am I supposed to do now? Regards.

I have exactly same problem, though my i8000 is European model. The reason seems to be the Unicom SIM card for me, if I take it out the Android works really good. Haven't tried with China Mobile or other SIM. I think its related that the original source is from a Chinese Android as the software automatically configures a Unicom wallpaper and settings on first install.
Guest emptyara Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 sorry I don't know .. try fresh install .. could work .. noob question here.. ok I always want a fresh start for my android if anything happen to me (freeze, frequent error popup).. for me I boot from My storage.. so my confusion here, should I replace SIMILAR file contents in 1st page (beta1024). I mean for zImage. should I replace with new one before I compress it to Ubuntu >> /disk (EXT2). this is what i did for mine.. 1- haret (never change) 2- default (change it to "mmcblk0p5" line just before lunch haret for 1st time) 3- zImage (replace it with new update [1.89kb size]) -planning to change it with new zImage 4- o2beta (never change) 5- ext2.tar (never change from 1st post [same in ver. Beta1024]) - IS THIS CORRECT OR I NEED TO COMBINE WITH CONTENT IN UPDATES?? 5- o2update.tar (I take from post #889) - MY OTHER CONFUSION, WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I WANT TO PUT ANY OTHER UPDATE? COPY AND PASTE CONTENT USING 7ZIP LIKE WHAT I DID? my result for android is quiet strange. bcoz my 1st boot is pretty good even boot through SD.. but now everything not just like before after boot it in My Storage. maybe some1 can share with me the BEST way to get FRESH START..
Guest nonione Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 started new update for the second time and vibrations not working this time, wlan is still working phones not heating up as it was before, however batterys still going away pretty fast.

Guest AnYhOw Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Do you have wifi enabled? Em...sometime only. Mostly hangs when i am installing Apps, as the loading bar stops loading and it freeze there.
Guest Pete B Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) Em...sometime only. Mostly hangs when i am installing Apps, as the loading bar stops loading and it freeze there. I have also had hanging problems and reboots since the latest update. Everything was fine before except for the odd problem of not coming out of sleep. But now Android is not usable. I started running from my storage, then re installed onto storage card after removing the partition on my storage. Then went back to my storage but still problems..... Sorta getting over reinstalling now.... I have done every update in the same order I had previously. I also tried putting old zimage file back on but that hasn't helped. I haven't removed the files that the o2bupdate.tar.gz copied over that came with the latest download and not sure if I can just remove the files or whether they over wrote existing files. Guest silviaccio1 Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) Some of the developer or of the code.google page maintainer (not a newbie like me) can put somewhere an installation file containing all the updates (last zimage, working 2d/3d drivers, last beta version) please? Something like a Beta V2? Edited January 28, 2011 by silviaccio1

Guest Pete B Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) So you are also unable to solve this problem too? No I can't solve this problem either. I am not an expert but I have successfully installed Android up to the last update onto my storage card. But kept getting kernel errors so moved to my storage install which seemed to get rid of the corruption that was happenning. Only had the rare problem of not coming out of sleep. But this new update ended the good run I have had. So then tried the normal storage card install but no luck, then back to my storage and no luck... So I now I think I may sit back and forget Android until there is a fix for my problem or another update. Got sick on reinstalling like 3 or 4 times today with no apparent reason what I am doing wrong. It appears to only have problems after the installation of the last update. Totally the same problem. I guess we just have to wait for newer updates, or beta.
Guest vidavi Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 The last update seems to be the most stable for me. I managed to connect via wifi to my work wep based secured network for the first time, managed to sync my contacts, managed to start android market(slow), sleep problem seems to be ok, so as clock. I have only one thing that bothers me. I cant connect my omnia via usb in windows xp. The probem seems to me that the device is not at all recognised in winxp. Its my first time to say that me phone is usable. I have only to test phone calls and battery.
