Guest Rapid81 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I'm confused What should I download????? The o2bupdate.tar.gz file in the post what I replied to. But if you cannot found it, then here: http://www.modaco.com/content-page/322429/...amp;pid=1581809
Guest Pete B Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 - Well I reinstalled the original Beta files of Android on my storage - Booted Android and all went well for the original beta file install - Closed Android down straight away - Copied the new zImage file over to the root of my Storage - Copied Rapids all in one installer with Launcherpro into the root of my storage But for some reason none of the update doesn't install the files nor does it delete the o2budate.tar.gz file. I have checked the system folder and they have not been copied. Any ideas? I have always just put the o2bupdate.tar.gz files in the root of my storage and the files have been copied over on first boot of Android with the o2bupdate.tar.gz file being deleted afterwards. I knwo the files can be copied in manually but that doesn't fix the underlying problem of why the installs aren't happening on boot. Sorry to bump the above post of mine but I'm hoping someone experienced can suggest a way for me to diagnose this or even better a solution. I have tried rebooting many times and have also tried some of the other updates in case it was a corrupt file and checked the file extension was till *.gz. I am placing the updates in the root of my storage as I always have done prior to the re installation. My last option I suppose is to manually uncompress all the files and copy them into Android if it lets me do that in the file explorer. Or I will copy the updated files using ubuntu to get access to the ext2 partition. But that doesn't fix the source of the problem.

If before, then redownload the beta, because in the first one had a glitch and because of that, the droid could not installed the updates. Edited January 31, 2011 by Rapid81

If before, then redownload the beta, because in the first one had a glitch and because of that, the droid could not installed the updates. I feel like an idiot now. Originally I downloaded the first one soon after release and installed it. Then mustn't have done any updates because the next version came out before the updates so didn't realise of the bug. I thought I only changed the zImage file on the second install but have now found Version 1 and Version 2 on my computer. Thankyou so much. Yet again Rapid has come to the rescue...... although I'm slightly kicking myself because it was only like 2 weeks ago when I did all this LOL. I'll report back but think I may moving forward again with Android rather than backwards.

Guest Rapid81 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 ah. ok. can you help me with the installation on sd card? i have 8gb class 6. i have linux using vmware as well I used the KDE Partition Manager's Live CD to create the ext3 partition. I shrinked the FAT16 partition with 512MB, then created the ext3 what I placed after the FAT16. Direct Linkt to the Live CD After that, I used the Sabayon to untar the ext2.tar.gz file (I could not untar it under the KDE. Maybe the tar is missing from it.) to the partition I created. It's not a hard job. But you need to know, there's some problem with the SDHC card's driver in the beta right now and because of this, you can face with corrupted partition (just the ext2-3, not the FAT). When you use ext3 (it use journals) then the chance of corruption is smaller, but it's there. That's why I'm using my iGO's 2GB simple SD card now instead of my Kingston 4GB SDHC Class4.

Guest Bankaiii Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 /!\ Thanks lot of to Developpers /!\ Take your time to make perfect release. ;) Best regards,
Guest surenz Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) From my experience the EXT3 partitions are slower than EXT2 in the benchmarks (i.e. Quadrant) but I think it will be less destructible by some random lockups and restarts (and they happen quite frequently). In my everyday use I don't see difference in the speed when installed on My storage. I have one question: Does someone test GPS functionality? I tried but GPS test programs see no satellites. Thanks Edited January 31, 2011 by surenz

Thanks Tested yesterday with Navigon, GPS Test and Google Maps: fast, reliable, perhaps better than WinMo ;) Simply remember to flash JJ1 or another efficient revision as the phone baseband and, via WinMo, do a full cycling of the chip (i.e. switch to airplane mode and back), also download XTRA GPS data and make sure you leave for a 10 minutes or so the phone on locking in in order to hve the data and cache readjust to your current position. Also keep in mind that some locations might impair reception.
Guest djsolidsnake86 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 how download xtra in android?
Guest cicciosprint Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 how download xtra in android? GPS enabled programs have the pertinent options, or you might use GPS Status (search the Market). Also, once Froyo is ported, a relevant option will be present in the Sensors menu (Settings)
Guest djsolidsnake86 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 ok, i tested it without xtra and is very quick to find satellites!

Guest n4m3less Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 curiosity: what are the problems and difficulties of porting in Froyo?
Guest ricvec Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Can someone summarize which are the main files to install? I start the list: 1. download and copy the files from http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php (2011-01-17) 2. download and overwrite the files from http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php (2011-01-19) 3. download and overwrite the files from http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php (2011-01-27) 4. ONLY if you want to start Android from the boot: copy in the root folder the files from http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php (2011-01-30) I don't know how to install files of Rapid81 and in which order to add his modified files. Thank you very much Riccardo

Don´t really know...try another install, and if that doesn´t work, format your SD card (it´s a little tricky but possible, there are some posts in the forum about it) greetings, yet another austrian ;)
Guest myo2wantandroid Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) I now download the 512 mb beta. I have formatted the sd card with the settings at the omnia. .. greets yeah austria xD EDIT: same thing witz 512 mb version Edited January 31, 2011 by myo2wantandroid
Guest LOLOH2 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 dont know anyone mentioned this before; you can use Market place to search for GPS and then download and install the GPS togger switch and turn off the GPS function, this will reduce the battery drainage as well as the heat
