dont know anyone mentioned this before; you can use Market place to search for GPS and then download and install the GPS togger switch and turn off the GPS function, this will reduce the battery drainage as well as the heat

In Android desktop theres a native widget "powermanager" that has GPS on/off function, just press screen, holding a moment and select it in popup menu

I am working on the installer to add "install to my storage" option. Also a step by step install guide (including updates, rooting etc.) on the way.

Does that mean that you are creating installer for android....like we use Octan`s Downloader for flash ROM in WM? And we can install Android in my Storage, without ubuntu...? Or something else? ;)

when the gps is in function appear a icon, so if the icon doesn't appear without using gps programs and software i think that the gps is off

When you were downloaded the Beta? After or before 18/01/2011 12:45? If before, then redownload the beta, because in the first one had a glitch and because of that, the droid could not installed the updates.

I cant update anymore and I downloaded beta again and install everything again and again and no chance, Im becoming crazy help please... ;)

Edit: Ok I can do now, my mistake was no rename the update file "o2bupdate.tar_with_LauncherPro&HomeSwitcher" to "o2bupdate.tar".

I now download the 512 mb beta.

I have formatted the sd card with the settings at the omnia. ..

greets

yeah austria xD

EDIT: same thing witz 512 mb version

Strange :-/

But it's normal that it is veeeeery slow at the first boot, and often something popups saying "blabla is not responding".

Simply tap on wait then if possible and... wait (even if you dont see any response immediately).

It may take up to ten minutes until everything is up and running, next time you start it, it should be already quite a bit faster.

If this doesnt work, you'll have to start from 0.

Make a clean install, start it up the first time (be patient!), then apply the updates (not before the first full start)...

I'm 99% sure it does'nt have anything to do with your phone or cellular-network.

Use EASEUS Partition Manager or equivalent to delete the EXT2 partition and restore the FAT one to maximum size, then format and try reinstalling.

If still no result, buy a faster microSD, Kingston will do the trick.

As for GPS, I think battery saving is achieved by turning off the GPS chip subsystem altogether. I hope Almar and the rest of the dev team will soon fix that and add to the website proper USB drivers, that would be a great step towards daily usage of Android. Yes, I can't wait for it to be updated with camera and sensors ;)

I've been reading this forum for a long time and there are many problems installing android but heres how i installed android:

1. Connect your microSD card to the card reader and connect it to the computer(you can use any MicroSD card,if it is more than 1 gb you can partition it using EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition)

2. After it is connected start EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition and formart the MicroSD to Ext2 (4Kb).(It may ask to reboot the computer)

3. After it formats download any one of the files provided on http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php file section.(you can download either 512 partition image or 1GB partition image)

4. Extract the files and put it in My Storage. (Attention: Copy only "o2Beta" folder and default.txt, ext2.tar, haret.exe, log.txt, and zImage to the root of my Storage)

5. Open "o2Beta" Folder and run haret.exe

6. Wait for it to load and until it say something like reboot, the device will auto reboot so just leave it there.

7. It will boot up Windows Mobile again.

8. Then go to My Storage and click on haret.exe

9. This time it will boot again and after awhile you will see Android logo on the bootscreen.

10. After the Android 2.1 was booted, hold on the "Lock" button for 3-4 sec and

turn off the device. (It will boot up Windows Mobile again, or sometimes you will have to do it manually to turn on the device)

10. Now download the latest kernel and the necessary modifications in the filesystem ( without the 2D/3D things ) you can find here (download the O2droid.zip from http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php) extract it to the root of my storage and overwrite the previous files. There is also a new update for people that want to have rooted phone and use apps that need root (download the suupdate.zip from below). Just unpack it to the root of the My Storage and start haret.

11. Then run the haret.exe from My Storage (not inside o2Beta folder).

12. This time it will bootup faster than the first time.

Download links:

For EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition:http://majorgeeks.com/EASEUS_Partition_Master_Home_Edition_d5967.html

Download 2d/3d drivers and install here:

To install 2d/3d drivers download o2bupdate.tar.gz and place in "My Storage\o2bupdate.tar.gz" , this should stop the phone from freezing every 5 minutes:

you should have 5 files not 4

the 5 files are default.txt,haret.exe,ext2.tar.gz,zImage and o2beta folder, the log.txt is extra.

Wait for Tom3q GPU drivers or buy a native Android device...

Data working? Now that's great! That leaves just the sensors, camera, bluetooth and power management left before daily use is achieved! I wonder if that includes HDSPA aswell or just UMTS?
