I did fresh install like usual... but this time i change my method.. instead of update it using o2bupdate, i straight away copy/paste (31/1/2011) update & n0body's 3d parch into ext2.tar.gz before untarred it through ubuntu.. everything work flawlessly from yesterday :D the only problem i had, i unable to root my device.. i already copy o2bupdate.sh into my strorage but i believe it may caused due i should install in manually tru ubuntu. recently i saw someone wrote in pages 98, on how to manually install o2bupdate.sh thru unbuntu.. follow the steps but its not work.. btw, I tried to root using suggestion Root Explorer.

Guest emptyara Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 i had also this problem, is there a way to fix this?, i installed from my storage try make ur partition not more than 2gb for both "disk0" and "disk" it solved my problem for that :P
Guest raheeg Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 @raheeg @FactionOne 1) SD card is the way the devs made it - I guess because it's easier to work with while under development - not only can you make changes more easily, but as it's not 100% working just yet, WinMo remains as a fall back. This is only my understanding though. It's complicated to install to My Storage, because that wasn't designed-in; some of the clever folks around here figured it out; sometimes there is no 'easy' way. > agree. SD card is the way to go! :P 2) I can't help you here I'm afraid, I've not tried to sync with any of these methods. I'm fairly sure that in the 100 pages of this thread I've seen quite a few mentions of Windows 7 issues; but I guess you will have seen this too. I don't know if there are any tools that can import comma separated values into android? Maybe that's worth a try - there are a few tools for WinMo which will export contacts as .csv (so you could export from a windows tool to my storage/storage card, and import to android from the same place using an android tool?) > I already tried CSV but android doesn't support importing that. 3) OK, here's another one which has definitely been discussed in the thread. A lot of people reported the phone getting warm early in the beta - mainly before the sleep fixes started coming through. I'm having some problems (heat is NOT one of them) with 31/01 updates, but using 27/01 package my phone doesn't get warm enough for me to notice/worry about it. Check which updates you're running? > After reformatting SD card and installing beta and then Radie's package, this is gone now. Phone is working like a charm. I am a happy man. :D 4) I thought you've got Android installed (because it makes your phone warm)? But yes, settings etc. are saved between sessions - although I will say that the Swype beta I signed-up for doesn't believe my handset is the same device after a reboot; but in terms of your enquiry - settings/wallpapers etc. - they're kept. > Yes this is solved now. 5) I don't mean to sound harsh, but I'm not sure making playlists is a very important issue for the OS development/testing thread while the project is beta; but anyway - I'm not sure how to do it (or even if you can) using the standard Android music player; but I recommend you have a look at Zimly and DoubleTwist on the market or appbrain.com - both these players have good playlist support. > I will. Thanks. Rob.
Guest emptyara Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) i had also this problem, is there a way to fix this?, i installed from my storage U can try this.. Below is the method that i used to installed Android 2.1 into 'My Storage' on our Omnia 2. First step that need to be done is do the right partition. I guess if we done this part wrongly it can caused error (kernel option) due to android cannot find the right path to locate the system files. I used Minitool Partition Wizard Home to do the partition. 1.Partition - My Storage - 2gb FAT - primary type - named it as "disk0" [ii] 2gb EXT3 - primary type - named it as "disk" [iii] 'balance remain' gb FAT - logical type - named it as u like. mine is "WMStorage" Then, u have to make sure that ur SD card is properly delete previous Android installed (if any) first, go to samsung setting in winmo > memory > storage card > format. (don't forget to backup) then, do the partition like below using Minitool Partition Wizard. - SD Card - FAT - primary type - name it as u like :P Through PC Windows, copy Android beta files (beta1024 or beta512) into "My Storage". Files includes: (haret.exe, default.txt, o2beta, zImage, o2beta folder) - THIS WILL WORK..BUT.. IN ORDER FOR ME TO GET ALL THE UPDATES WORKING PROPERLY, I ONLY COPY (haret.exe, default.txt, o2beta folder) from Android beta. for other remain files (zImage, o2bupdate.sh, **ext2.tar.gz) i took from 31/01/2011 @devs website. ** FOR THIS PART I OPEN ARCHIVES USING 7-ZIP, AND DRAG N COPY ITEMS FROM "o2bupdate.tar.gz" (31/01/2011) & "o2update.tar.gz" (nObody 3d) into "ext2.tar.gz" MAKE SURE TO PUT THOSE ITEMS IN THE RIGHT PLACE. 2.Untar into EXT3 or also known as "/disk" through Ubuntu type in this command using Terminal "sudo cp /media/DISK0/ext2.tar.gz /media/disk/" wait till it finish. [ii] then, type in "cd /media/disk/" there will be a line like : "cd /media/disk$" appear. [iii] then, type in "sudo tar xzvf ext2.tar.gz -C /media/disk" wait till it finish untar all the necessary data. ....CLOSE TERMINAL DONE UNTARRED EXT2.TAR.GZ INTO "/disk" now need to manually update another item (o2bupdate.sh) that supposedly located earlier in your "My Storage" ....open terminal then, type this "cd /media/disk" [ii] then, type this "cd bin" [iii]then, type this "rm -f su" [iv] then, type type "ln -s /media/disk/system/xbin/su" ----> (EDITED) DONE WITH UBUNTU :D Finish with that. just some steps away to get ur android working.. after that using PC Windows, change the line in default.txt to: ** Set CMDLINE "rootdelay=2 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 init=/init" ** THIS PART CAN BE VARY, U CAN USE THIS PATH IF ONLY U DID EXACTLY SAME PARTITION LIKE ABOVE. 3.Run Haret for 1st time!! wait until it boot.. ENJOY IT.. Edited February 7, 2011 by emptyara

Guest Rapid81 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) If someone wants to help the developers to make the battery percentage accurate, then type in the phone this code under WinMo: *#9911# and create a table with the %/V. The table needs to be more detailed near 100% and 0% to be more accurate. Thanx! Edited February 6, 2011 by Rapid81

Guest mat9v Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 @emptyara: [iv] then, type type "ln -s /system/xbin/su su" ----> (still working on this part bcoz my android still cant properly root to the device yet) -but many claimed it should work.. Since you are working under ubuntu you have the android filesystem mounted somewhere so giving that command will create the link to a file on ubuntu filesystem. If you tried to link to file on android filesystem you would ln -s /media/disk/system/xbin/su su but that would not work once android is started. The only way (beside using o2bupdate.sh) is to: 1. install some terminal emulator from market 2. type suid 3. type su 4. do your steps: [ii] then, type this "cd bin" [iii]then, type this "rm -f su" [iv] then, type type "ln -s /system/xbin/su su" Now it should work. Please correct me if I'm wrong (to someone more knowledgeable).
