Guest Wonsanim Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Here is a link to a bunch of custom animations for the samsung captivate. Just to get some ideas. I think some of these are pretty creative. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822955 Very Nice :P
Guest superutp Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Some very good ones coming in here. Would definately be interested in a one kicking dell logo about.... They will have to be landscape at min due to framebuffer layout. Portrait ones will look weird +1...Totally...
Guest degriz Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Going to have a lash at one over the weekend provided my house move goes ok. Going to import the dell logo into lightwave and smash it about with some motion blur and depth of field. Would.still love to know how to add sound.
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 /system/media/audio/ui bootsound.mp3 i think
Guest synaptic.flaws Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Liked the intro from extrememonkey's boot anim, have repacked it with just the cheeky droid popping up here and there :P Also worth noting that anyone making these boot animations should use OptiPNG to optimize their PNGs prior to zipping them. This usually yields quite a significant size improvement over the original unoptimized pngs. any one tried this yet?
Guest fards Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 any one tried this yet? just sits on a black screen for me that one..
Guest extrememonkey Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 just sits on a black screen for me that one.. The zip file is probably compressed.....
Guest extrememonkey Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 /system/media/audio/ui bootsound.mp3 i think Not working for me unfortunately :P

Guest Cue_32 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 sorry new version uploaded - same mistake again used compression first time Nicksoph, use 7zip (if you aren't already using that). It works best IMO.
Guest nicksoph Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 sorry to waste your time gents - not able to test this end Just uploaded a new version
Guest extrememonkey Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 sorry to waste your time gents - not able to test this end Just uploaded a new version Any chance you could upload a preview to save people downloading, installing, and then testing just so they can see it???
Guest nicksoph Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Nicksoph, use 7zip (if you aren't already using that). It works best IMO. thanks Cue I think have it installed - does it use the same arguments as standard zip?

Guest RichB93 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 just sits on a black screen for me that one.. Apologies, I only tested it on the boot animation tester app. :/

Guest degriz Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Good work. Definitely feeling the "Mashing up the Dell Logo" thing. A m8 has some wicked Kung Fu samples, badly want to fu the Dell logo! :P
Guest chrisrotolo Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 dropping a bootsound.mp3 in /system/media/audio/ui creates a bootsound.ogg as well, but nothing plays after reboot. anyone figure out how to replace the Dell startup splash logo??
Guest fards Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 here it goes still rough draft but tell me what you think, add or subtract. Not struck on the caps or the motorola style text at the start. Hows about using the ubuntu font steve has used in 146? Other than that looks great
Guest fards Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 you can just unzip it and browse or is there a way i can post and have it animated? I think it's the current one I tested that's scaled to portrait but sits in landscape, so squished white box on black background.
