Guest richardkemp Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 My Ext2 partition isnt recognised by CM7....cant Apps to Ext2 be included in CM7 as it is in Froyo and eclair...? Yes it cold be, if someone wrote and submitted a working patch. The CM team decided not to maintain this function due to increased available storage space of devices 'these days'. They view it as necessary only on older devices, and therefore not worth the effort. s2e is a good workaround, anyhow.

Anyway thats a let down not supporting Ext2....thats almost a standard in roms these days...
Guest admanirv Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 When i run top for akmd2 it is already running at 0% when screen is off. This is on nightly 8. I did the "fix" anyway and rechecked but it's pretty much identical usage. Mine is the same to be honest, i did the fix and noticed about a 31% drain with the phone standing by for around 2.5 - 3 hours.

Ext2 was highly unreliable with me in 2.1, no problems with ext3 though.

Same here (nightly 6), but after putting in the "echo "2147483647" > /data/delay" fix, my Dalvik Garbage Collector stopped 'taking out the trash' every 6 seconds or so. Not been running with the fix for long, but over the last couple of hours or so, the longest gap between concurrent sleep state garbage collections in my logcat is an unbelievable 10 minutes (instead of every 6 seconds as shown in the log here): 03-01 21:39:27.568 D/dalvikvm( 6831): GC_EXPLICIT freed 4K, 56% free 2765K/6215K, external 0K/0K, paused 62ms 03-01 21:49:21.778 D/dalvikvm( 6460): GC_CONCURRENT freed 376K, 56% free 2999K/6791K, external 20K/512K, paused 5ms+5ms WOW! Also notice the the process ID's relating to the garbage collection (6831 and 6460) are different too, where as previously the garbage collector constantly ran against the com.android.systemui process Acid test comes tonight. Full night off of charger starting at 100% charge

Guest jesuita Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Hello. Being following the growth of CM7 on the blade and finally and am pretty happy with it so far, great mod  Here's the things that I've noticed so far n N8: - Launcher Pro restarts 2/3 times a day and some widgets crash (im my case SiMi Clock, PowerAMP and 3G Watchdog) I think it is related to the widgets trying to access the internet.. still haven't tried with another launcher - Today was trying to make a call on the car with the auricular but couldn't listen or make myself listened through it. Following that tried to list to music and it worked, so theres is something missing there.. dunno if it has been reported yet. Apart from that only have the already reported bugs regarding 3G connecting after disconnecting WI-FI and the screen staying black after a call (doesn't happen on all calls) Also have a doubt: any way to remove the shutter sound on the camera? Cheers, Jesuita
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Acid test comes tonight. Full night off of charger starting at 100% charge  Same here, lets see how this baby does. Although i'm desperately looking forward to Nightly 10, NIghtly 8's laggy, as i didn't wipe, I guess, and thus i want Nightly 10 as an excuse to do so.
Guest MDCFan Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 When I type "SU" into terminal all I get is "access denied" What am I doing wrong? Cheers, Peter Type it in lowercase (it needs to be su, not SU). Also check if you haven't accidently blocked terminal emulator in Superuser application.
Guest dmxpowa Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 have anyone raised an issue ticket for the wifi-3g f*ckup? since nightly 6 when u turn off wifi, 3g kicks in doesnt matter if it was enabled or not, i have to enable then disable it every friggin time to stop 3g.
Guest IronDoc Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Thanx, so in future no more Ext partitions recommended? Seeing as App2sd works in Froyo and above I suppose not... I dunno why you think it's such a big deal that they stopped 'supporting' it. Simple2ext does everything that the previous apps2ext did and now is a bit easier to change.

Fixed. It's a CM7-wide issue, and it's was all fixed up yesterday I believe. Nightly 10 is gonna be a big'un

Guest ThrashMan Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 A bit of googling led to this: apparently the number 2147483647 is from the donut version of the file and On the original page, a few posts down, there's an explanation So the number 2147483647 is the largest possible value that can be assigned to delay, effectively turning off akmd and its related functions. But compass still works for me on Maps after performing those steps. Now 250 is apparently high enough and sufficient according to the second link. Why that is, I have no idea. I have no idea what the "delay" is suposed to do. My testing shows the ONLY effect I have experienced is that akmd2 stops when the phone is asleep. As soon as the phone is woken up akmd2 wakes up too and all its functions work as expected.
Guest Matthew Ferguson Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 at my side i see that with launcher pro everything works great, but with the "stock" launcher i get hicups why you cannot accept that each zte is diferent? (take for example the OC at some you get 694 at other you can go to 800) By "stock" do you mean ADW? as I don't.
Guest dmxpowa Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Fixed. It's a CM7-wide issue, and it's was all fixed up yesterday I believe. Nightly 10 is gonna be a big'un do you happen to have a link to CM7 commit changes?
Guest shakerist Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 OMG THIS ROM IS AMAZING i was wondering should i bother to change roms im quite lazy  Im glad i did this is amazing and for the battery fix in terminal emulator do you type su first because otherwise it says operation failed, i did when typing su it didnt say anything i assumed it did it? and how do i get rid of the power control or how do i add to the power control when u pull down that top slider thingy i want to add data connection on and off .. anyway cant wait for nightly 10 :) thanks victor and other who helped develop this amazing rom
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) do you happen to have a link to CM7 commit changes? It's in the first post. I think I put it about halfway down. thanks victor and other who helped develop this amazing rom Ooh, No way do I take credit for this rom. Thank Tom G, HCDR Jacob and the CyanogenMod team Edited March 1, 2011 by Victor von Zeppelin

Guest Scoopading Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Interesting you're now asking ME to post videos documenting my issue, and proving that, when a few posts ago you said this would be a waste of time. I'm not asking you to post anything. You're the one who feels you have an issue. If you want to spend time documenting it, go ahead. Just because I'm not interested in spending time doing that doesn't mean you can't do it yourself if you feel there's some value to be added to a discussion and you seek feedback from others - That's what I meant when I said "I'd even encourage you to do so." That doesn't actually mean I'm asking you to post anything! Also, when I say the discussion is "at an end", I merely meant the discussion between myself and you. And it is - this is my last response to you on this matter  Also, it's pretty petty to call in the moderatorsApparently you failed to notice. The moderator already called himself in about two posts below the one where you accused me of being a "liar", and before I made those remarks (post #1387 on this thread). It's obvious you wish this particular discussion would come to an end, as you've realised there is an issue with the launcher and your insistence to deny it previously now is very embarrassing.I don't mind if you continue to discuss your 2D performance problems with others and I maintain I don't notice 2D issues personally. If I've realized there's an "issue" somewhere, it's well beyond the phone. But I wish you the best of luck in fixing your 2D problem. :)
Guest css771 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) Victor, probably you should remove the first akmd2 "fix" and leave just the second one on the first page because the owner change to compass on akmd_set.txt is something the author of the original article advised to change back to root in his article http://www.drakaz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3773#p3773 EDIT: Or you can just remove the chown compass:compass /data/misc/akmd_set.txt line and keep both methods if the first line works for some people.. Anyways now off to bed and lemme check if standby levels are improved. Edited March 1, 2011 by css771

Did you only type su and echo 2147483647 > /data/delay in the terminal emulator or did you type the other stuff too? Thanx, so in future no more Ext partitions recommended? Seeing as App2sd works in Froyo and above I suppose not... Again, read the first two posts and the answer I posted yesterday to you. Apps2SD is broken with some apps in CM7, that's why if you have to format an ext3 primary partition to the card too and install s2e and set it to install apps on ext3. Hello. Being following the growth of CM7 on the blade and finally and am pretty happy with it so far, great mod :) Here's the things that I've noticed so far n N8: - Launcher Pro restarts 2/3 times a day and some widgets crash (im my case SiMi Clock, PowerAMP and 3G Watchdog) I think it is related to the widgets trying to access the internet.. still haven't tried with another launcher - Today was trying to make a call on the car with the auricular but couldn't listen or make myself listened through it. Did you move the apps/widgets to SD? Move them back to the phone. To remove the shutter sound search the forum, there was a pretty easy fix for this, can't remember which file had to be removed. @People who have no success with the fix and the battery still drains fast, what fix did you apply the 250 or the 2147483647 one? The short version (only one line excepting su) or the long one? Did you restart after the fix? @People who were successful, please state what you applied, the long or the short version and the 250 or the 2147483647 one? Edited March 1, 2011 by Rotmann
Guest Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) any way to remove the shutter sound on the camera? to remove camera sound i used root explorer, mount as r/w,then go to system/media/audio/ui And you will see camera_click.ogg delete done  Edited March 1, 2011 by Guest
Guest peterdalrymple Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Type it in lowercase (it needs to be su, not SU). Also check if you haven't accidently blocked terminal emulator in Superuser application. Typically I got it to work first try after posting my question. Superuser just wouldn't pop up the first few times I tried it. Cheers for the reply though.
