Yes, you can uninstall SetCPU if you want to.

I didn't write the smartass governor but as I understand it, it makes sure to keep the speed low when idle and jumps directly to 480MHz (or higher) when active. The idea is to use minimum power when idle and maximize responsivness when active. As I understand it, the ondemand governor scales slower from low to high.

The default on the blades is to use 245.76MHz as the minimum but I've made 122.88MHz the min by default. You can change that if you want but I've found no ill effects of making it use the lowest speed when idle.

I'm sorry if the above isn't very clear but I'm not an expert in this area.

so i should use smartass governor with 691 or 710 max and 122 min right?and when i want to save batery i change smartass to powershaver with no changes on the numbers right?tnx alot m8 for ur answers and for the brilliant job with the roms.best regards from thessaloniki greece

I updated fine without wipe. Did you change contacts type in your update? ie. did you use the AOSP contacts in rls 2 and forget to put it on on 3 so leaving you with the incompatible ZTE contacts or something?

I have been using dialer one with ss2. Could this be the problem? Reinstall dialer one?

hi.i want to ask u now the ss3 has its own cpu controller should i erase the setcpu?

It's worth noting that Nofrills CPU has a nice feature that actually has a downside and so I ended up going back to SetCPU. Namely, it detects if the phone hasn't powered off properly and if so it refuses to auto-overclock on the next boot. In a way this is a great idea because if your phoen crashes from overclocking then its forced to default speeds next boot. In reality what happens is everytime you do a reboot it resets your CPU to default speeds because a reboot doesn't count as a clean shutdown apparently. :D

Since I do a loot of "adb reboot", "adb reboot recovery" and "adb reboot bootloader" I would like an option to turn this feature off but for most people the ups should outweight the downs. It also helps you detect a freeze + reboot that otherwise would have passed unnoticed. Like if the phone locks up and reboots during the night, in your pocket etc...

The kernel sources for RLS3 is now available on github. Link in first post.

Yes i noticed this.

setcpu is much better and the widget looks cool.

Its always best to not set your clock speeds for boot untill its stable, which is 710 for me.

Also setcpu allows to set different profiles,so hands down setcpu.(which was free over at XDA,not sure if thats still the case)

Hi all

Could someone explain why AHB overclocking & UI acceleration are add-ons & not included in the main ROM?

Is it because some phones may not run stable with them included?

Cheers, Paul

Hi again

Can I ask if once added, do these options require any configuration?

Cheers, Paul

What I do is when I flash a new ROM, i skip the "tutorial" and don't enter my gmail.

I then go to Settings > Privacy, tick the first box then untick the second and untick the first.

Open market, enter your gmail details and presto, it doesn't download all your old apps.

they need to be reflashed

Thank you! I will try that!

AHB is not stable on some phones and it may use more battery (not confirmed).

HW UI likely uses more battery as it means the GPU is powered on a lot more but it's debatable as it also means the CPU is offloaded. I was very close to making this the default in RLS3 and I sometimes regret that I didn't.

Not sure if this something to do with my blade

but the video camera has a flickering effect going on ?

I am using R3

Try setting max CPU clock to 600MHz to see if it goes away. Do you use AHB overclocking?

kallt_kaffe: did you add more locales to R3?

Also in addition to the R2 AOSP dialer I noticed today that when typing a new number in dialer, then press menu button > add contact > New Contact, the + icon that is supposed to be before the "Add new contact" option is the wi-fi icon. I guess there is a general icon bug with the stock AOSP dialer :D

Wierd. Wifi is running fine here. One thing that comes to my mind is that if you've choosed to back up your settings to google then it will restore also your wifi networks. What if you do a full wipe and do not login with Google, does Wifi work then?

No I haven't added any more locales and yes, there is some icon bugs when using the AOSP dialer.

I can not enable Wifi too in RLS3. It was working after the first boot but can't be activated again after the second reboot. The checkbox is just deactivating it self after 2 seconds. Any ideas?

Similar here - I turn on wifi, it says "Obtaining IP address from my wifi network", and after about half a minute - "Turning Off...".

Earlier I had JJ RLS9, installed SS RLS3 with full wipe and with ahb overclocked.

EDIT: deleting or renaming /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf helped. But it's strange, as after renaming the newly created file looks similar (the only difference it's only one AP in it now).

EDIT2: Sorry, made a diff:

It seems you have to make this change to the file and then it should work.

My earlier file was probably restored by Titanium backup.

yes my clock is at 710 max 128 min, smartass

dropped clock to 600,it works no more flickering in video camera

Why does that happen ?

also thanks for all your work K.K,this rom is amazing :D

it is easy to fix the WiFi error if it is disconnecting and not connecting at all

fix by searching the modaco form

deleting or renaming /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

Just changed to this rom from FLB and after a couple of hours working with this I have to say it's damn smooth.

Need to ask though, is it safe to remove NoFrills and HTC_IME? I don't know if using SetCPU would cause some kind of conflict with NoFrills, as for HTC_IME I just don't use it.

Also is there any known way to add Greek to the Gingerbread keyboard? I know this probably is asking a lot but would you consider adding Greek in that keyboard on the next release?

Thanks.

Both are safe to remove in titanium or pre-install or whatever.
