Hi! 1st gen ZTE, tryed to install the ROM... ROM Manager, 3.0.1.4, options: Wipe cache and Davik.

It just froze while saying "Welcome to Swedish Spring". It just wouldn't move the little yellow bar, as it stayed in the middle. Just waited 10 minutes, it wouldn't do anything. Process repeated twice.

Any ideas?

p.s. I checked the MD5, it's all ok.

getting serious battery drain on my gen1 OLED SF on the RLS5. strange it only seemed to start after installing launcher pro. think it could be related to the akmd2 process that spare parts shows to be using a lot of CPU. any reason this might become an issue only after installing launcher pro? or ideas in general as to why my battery is getting eaten alive - losing 1% every 5-10 mins while idling.

what coming up as partial wake usage?

I had the dialer stopping the phone from sleeping so i reset it and now it seems to be ok

I've got a TFT Gen1 running SS RLS5 and I noticed poor battery life when using Launcher Pro Plus, not as bad as your experiencing though. I've been tweaking the past week or so but finally 'give it neck' about 10 min ago and have gone with ADW. Battery life is very important to me and prviously I have had over two days on occations. I'll let you know how I get on after the weekend.

that's weird. i'm using launcher pro plu too and i'm getting 3 days with moderate use. i use the 3d drawer and use sms and calendar pro widgets. also my blade is set to 122 min and 672 max. it doesn't crach eitehr and i used no-frills and last i'm using rls5

this is the best thing my blade has ever seen

Thanks a lot, great work!!

I spotted two minor issues:

first, QtADB cannot list the system applications fully; while adb from the SDK works well.

secondly, the system crashed this morning because I pulled out the battery before it fully shut down.

      New in RLS5
      • Kernel now uses gzip:ed initrd to make it easier for other to modifiy
      • Fix for non-responsive touchscreen (on some Blades) by leromarinvit
      • Added AppWidgetPicker
      • Automaticly mounts /cache as tmpfs (ramdisk) if cache partition is less than 20000kb.
      • Updated Maps and No-frills CPU Control to latest versions.
      • Added some more stuff to "Extra settings". Stagefright can now be enabled/disabled but be aware that it is mostly broken so most people should leave everything off. Could be turned on to compare quadrant scores with other builds that have it enabled.
      • Some addons still say RLS4 because they are identical and I have not bothered to rename them.
      • No wipe needed if upgrading from erlier version.
        • Replaced libril-qc-1.so for Gen2 phones with TeliaSonera version. (Comviq version showed Sweden 3G net as "Comviq" and I did not like that.)
        • Replaced ar6000.ko with TeliaSonera version. (Not sure if it makes a difference but it was newer and it works)


          New in RLS4
          • Hardare UI accelleration made default (can be turned off with "Extra Settings"-app).
          • No longer overclocked by default.
          • Uses "ondemand" governor by default again (using smartass governor and overclocking at the same time can make the camera work less optimal)
          • Updated BFQv2 to BFQv2-1
          • Fixed HH.mm -> HH:mm for Dansih, Finnish and Norwegian localizations.
          • Some small tweaks to acpuclock.c (cleaned up overclocking code)
          • Added two lower overclocking frequencies for phones that have stability issues with 652.8MHz.
          • Developed a small app ("Extra Settings") that controls Compcache, USB-Charging and HW UI.
          • Readded swap and compcache support as it can help those with Chinese V880 phones.

            Installation

            Use Clockwork Recovery 3.0.1.4 or similar to install the ROM and addons. Remember to Wipe data/cache when installing the ROM (before or after does not matter). No wipe, no whine...

            If you use the aosp_contacts addon you will need to wipe after installing it as join/split contacts won't work if the contacts where synced with the "old" version. Advanced users will find that not a full wipe is needed and wiping the data for the three Contacts apps will do the trick.

            No TPT install file yet but for those who have allready repartitioned to 128Mb system this ROM fits without restoring the original partition layout.

            Important! Users with officiall 2.2 Blades must use Clockwork that is made for Gen 2 phones like the x880 version - If you are unsure about this, consult Mr Pigfish for advice.

            Tips & tricks

            [*]Use Spare Parts to set animations to "Fast"

            [*]Overclock with No-frills CPU Control.

            [*]Consider an alternative Launcher. Launcher Pro is my personal favourite.

            [*]The aosp_contacts addon replaces Contacts.apk, ContactsProvider.apk and Mms.apk with AOSP versions. You'll loose SmartDialer, get an SMS/MMS app with little less features but you'll get the AOSP Dialer and possibility to integrate your contact list with your Facebook account.

            [*]Don't trust the battery levels after a flash+wipe until you've run the ROM for a few days. Android needs to learn your battery levels.

Can someone change clock format in Finnish language, since now it uses one dot instead of colon in clock. KK "fixed" that for RLS4B.

I observed that when I luch Google Maps when phone probably not properly go sleep and I can wakeup it any button buttom the screen and of course battery is drainng. Who have the same problem?

I have a question.Which Clockwork should i use, my blade used to be a GEN1 but i converted it into GEN2 because my sensors failed with any custom 2.2 ROM and now with RLS5 with softbank kernel everything is working OK except when I go into recovery manager i see Unrecognized clockwork. I had 3.0.2.4 for GEN1 before transition to GEN2.

Okay second time in a week

I keep getting the "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." message pop up, I can't open Messages application or Contacts and probably some others too.

It pops up every few seconds and means I can't receive calls or texts.

I have tried deleting contacts in gmail and resyncing and multiple restarts. Last time I had to reinstall the ROM, at the expense of my SMS which I couldn't back up as the messages can't be accessed. I then had to sit there and install every app via titanium backup.

Any ideas how I might solve this without another reinstall?

I tried installing rls5 again.. (after the first time I got this error aswell) This time though, I first did a full wipe before installing.

Results:

The "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." message hasn't popped up just yet.. But now I have a different issue. It refuses to connect to my wifi at home. I got the correct password and when I connect is says it verifying, and then stops, connection lost and refuses to connect.

I really don't know what's causing it, or why some people have no problems and some are. Maybe I'm installing the rom wrong, but i have no idea. Can anyone help me with this?

reflashed full wipe and battery drain has gone. hardly had any apps on before so most suspicious that launcher pro was causing some type of conflict leading to the issue. will find out if i put it on again and same thing happens, but can't be the only person to have experienced this.

I am also on giffgaff with SSRLS5 but when I went to GEN 2 I had no signal. Wiped everything and reinstalled but exactly the same. I went back to GEN 1 and everything is okay again.

Hello,

you could try AOSP Dialer from the first post. I love the AOSP Dialer and don't have any battery issues with it.

If somebody want the best of both world- Smartdialer (the one which comes with SS RLS5) and Faebook contacts synchronisation, flash RLS5 from RLS4 (which has the facebook addon installed and which has already synced all the contacts into the addressbook) without a full data wipe.

You'll end up with Smartdialer + Facebook contacts in your address book. That's what I've wanted since a loooong time and luckily, I landed up with exactly the same!
