Guest martinsjt Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Hello, Worked for me, converted my ZTE BLADE from GEN 1 to GEN 2. I am using the CM7 N40. Best Regards
Guest magillos Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Is that good idea to run gen1->gen2 convertion from windows installed at usb drive? Can that be dangerous?
Guest Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Worked very easy, thanks a lot! Orange SF OLED Gen1 --> Gen2 alpinestars
Guest ozamodaz Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) I have a problem. Everything was fine, I followed all instructions but now I have interesting issue: If I turn on phone and wait CM Nightly 41 successfully boots. If I turn on + press "down" or tap "boot to recovery" in ROM Manager or long-press power -> Reboot -> Recovery - phone freeze on boot with green Android on screen and "back" lighting red. So, i can`t get to recovery It seems, i found an answer Edited April 18, 2011 by ozamodaz
Guest JayGB1982 Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I have already converted my phone to GEN2 but with 128Mb on system. How do I re-do this partition to 136Mb as recomended?
Guest ozamodaz Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I solved my issue with recovery. Now i have another problem. No connection to provider network. I used "newer gen2 update with a new radio image" from 1st post. It can be a bug of CM and i hope this because if my phone now don`t support GSM-type of my country - it`s a brick
Guest surfatwork Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 gen 2'fied!! great tutorial, many thanks hecatae and css771. cant really understand why people are bricking their phones - think it is a matter of RTFM. running CM7, N41 now

Hello Try this post: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...l-windows-only/ I think you can also re-do the 1 post steps and choose the partition layout you want. Guest Fou-lu Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 gen 2'fied!! great tutorial, many thanks hecatae and css771. cant really understand why people are bricking their phones - think it is a matter of RTFM. running CM7, N41 now before there wasn't any MD5sums to check, they downloaded a corrupt file, so adios san fransisco.
Guest Matthew Ferguson Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 before there wasn't any MD5sums to check, they downloaded a corrupt file, so adios san fransisco. Not really. Please stop over-exaggerating things. If you destroy the bootloader as these users did there's no way for Orange to detect that you voided your warranty, so they're still covered, especially since NO ONE has gone past their 1 year warranty yet.
Guest Fou-lu Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 what exaggeration? flashing that corrupted file doesn't perma brick? adios=brick, simples.

Guest !Amo! Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Ok guys, I am noob and confused. Can you tell me about your experinece? My question is that what are the different files in the step 2. Ok, I understand this is about the memory addressing or something like that, but which one is the recommended? And what is the file after the step 4? (Here's the file http://www.multiupload.com/MZHDCOTG0ZMD5SUM 185C51C3EDF8E4111044A3814ECEB3C7)???? please help me in a short explanation. Thanks!

Thanks! step 2 is just 4 differant ways to partition your phone, you can choose either or. i ended up going with the first one for the simple reason i could not get "hectates " to work. (the start button would not become clickable, it will all come clear) He does state in the tutoriol that the start button will become clickable in about 3 seconds, but i found it took about a minute (maybe just me) hope this helps. once you have done it you wll wonder what all the fuss was about' like i sais download and install the first one "it works"

I don`t know is it bug of CM N41 or Gen2 switching To elaborate what hecatae said, Do you have SS RLS4b downloaded on your SD card? If yes, reboot into recovery, wipe, install SS RLS4 and see if you are able to connect to your network.

Guest ozamodaz Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I solved my issue with connection to provider GSM network. Now everything works fine. When i first time switched to Gen2 with this instructions i used newer update, which found in the bottom of post: p.s: http://www.multiupload.com/CC70PUYCZD < this is a newer gen2 update with a new radio image, currently being tested and only offered in original partition layout With this Gen2 update i had a problem with connection. Phone worked fine, non-zero IMEI, but no connection to provider network. When i tried to search network manually i see only Ukrtelecom provider, which is non-GSM. I repeated all the steps using usual Gen2 update from Post #1 Step 2 and now everything OK. :)
